Opening hyperlinks in the same browser window
Hey Gang!
How does one create a hyperlink such that it opens in the
same browser window and doesn't keep opening a new window each
time?
Cheers!
GregoryDo you meant that you want to "open the hyperlinks of your flash file in the same browser window"
You flash file will be put on the internet and I think you have to configure your brower to achieve this goal.
We all know that IE can be configured to open the hyperlinks in the same window.
Thus if you want your flash file achieve this feature you need to write a code to control your brower.
This code can be a simple JS code. You can just google this to find out the answer.
good luck

Discoverer Viewer Open Link in New Browser Window
We have created cubes with links to details (using Manage Links).
When selecting the link from Discoverer Plus OLAP, a new browser window opens.
When selecting the link from Discoverer Viewer, it opens within the same browser window.
How can we force Discoverer Viewer to open a link in a new browser window?
We tried adding the TARGET="_blank" to the link but that only gets added to the last parameter (or passed as a parameter).
Unlike Discoverer Plus parameter, there is no _popup option. This article by Ted Padova will give you the JavaScript code that will accomplish this: http://acrobatusers.com/blogs/tedpadova/opening-pdfs-new-browser-windows

Open portlet in new browser window
Anyone know of a way to open a portlet, or a page containing a portlet, from a link into a new browser window? This is different than showDetailsPage, which opens in the same browser window.
Thanks.I tried to do this through Item Attributes for the portlet (clicking the little pencil), where there is a radio button for "Display Options."
One choice is: "Link That Displays Item in New Browser Window."
(I do have something in for the "Display Name" which seems to be required to get a link.)
However, this doesn't seem to work. No link shows.
(It works fine for
I have tested this with a Discoverer portlet, and also with a more generic portlet (the "Developer News" portlet in the 9iAS Community portlet provider).
Is this broken / a bug? -
Hello,
Would be grateful if anyone can help me.
website: www.Paris-Pet.com
Currently, a flash video plays on the index page. The following action is placed in the last frame of the video in Flash:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"));
This is working as intended with one exception: Instead of directing to the home page from the index page when the video is completed, it opens up the home page in a second browser window, leaving the empty browser window of the flash movie. This is not the seamless design I was hoping for, and I've also been told on some computers, blocking pop up windows is preventing them from smoothly transitioning to the rest of the web site.
I would like the redirect to open the home page in the same browser window as the movie in the index page played.
Please help. Print designer in over her head.
JMBrilliant, Jon. Thank you so much. For those of you who stumble on this, I did have a tiny bit of trouble when I edited the actionscript; the video didn't play as expected. After trial and error, this is the code that worked both in playing the video and opening up in the same browser window:
navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.paris-pet.com/home.html"),"_self");
The difference seems to be this: ") before the comma prior to "_self");
Again, Jon -- thanks!

Open PDF in same browser when the preference is set to open in new window.
The corporate policy for all applications is to open the PDF document in new browser/reader but our application needs the reader to open in the same browser even the preference "Display PDF in Browser" is unchecked.... The setPreference from javascript (html) doesn't seemed to work... How do i make this work?
Also, I need the links the browser to open in new browser once the PDF is loaded... do I need to reset the preference once it is loaded for the links to open in new browser?
thanks,
- RayThere is no way to override that from your application. And if the Links in the PDF have an explicit "open in new window" setting, that is respected over the preference.

Is it possible for multiple/different hyperlinks to open up in the SAME browser window?
I am able to put hyperlinks to various web pages in a PDF document. When I click on the first one, it opens up in a new browser window. The problem is that I want each subsequent link to reuse that same browser window. This seems to work when I open up the PDF document from my desktop, but if the document is first loaded into a web page, each link opens up a *new* browser window.
Hi Pat,
Thanks for the quick response.
I used Adobe Acrobat Professional 8 to create the document. I added a link and then in the "Actions" property for the link, I specified
"Run a javascript": app.launchURL("http://www.cnnfn.com", true) .
I had to use the app.launchURL method because the "Open a Web Link" action causes a warning message to appear when the PDF is contained in web page. You have to first click "Open in a new window" before the url is opened up in a new browser window. The behavior that we want is that each time you click on a hyperlink on the PDF, you are automatically taken to a specific browser window (without warning and reusing the window that has already been opened).

Want CSH to open in same browser window
I am implementing a Help system for a Java app.
The developers did a test and things seem to launch ok, except that each time they hit F1 in a window the topic opens in a new browser window.
Can I set something in my project os that they open in the same window ? I am currently generating WebHelp output.
ThanksPretty sure the cause will be down to something on the developer's side. There is nothing you can do to affect that behaviour.

using FF 35 on MacBook Pro
Thank you for your response -- It seems the "classic theme restorer" add-on is the problem. With that enabled I cannot move tabs. With it disabled I can. I've used that add-on for years without issue on Mac and PC. The PC is still fine, just the Mac is problematic since the FF update about a week ago.
So I guess that's the answer unless anyone knows of some other trick or setting to change so FF is able to have tabs below the address bar AND be able to move tabs left to right within the same browser window! -
I know that the settings for Muse are supposed to have links open in new windows but that is not happening. I've unlinked and linked them again several times. Actually all of the outside links open in the same Muse window. Help please!! I'm ready to connect the domain but can't bring myself to doing that until I get this fixed.
Thanks

Opening Hyperlinks in New Browser Window?
Hi All,
Does anyone know how to have keynote open a hyperlink in a new browser window? I have exported my keynote presentation to a quicktime moive and posted it on the web.
However, when someone clicks on one of the hyperlinks it opens the new website in the same browser window. When they click the Back button to go back to my Keynote quicktime movie it starts the presentation/movie over.
Any help you may have to offer would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!Hi All,

Open PDF-Output in browser window with full height
Hi,
I must open some BIP-Reports as PDF in a browser window via URL. The problem ist, that the height of the PDF-Output is fixed, as the PDF is shown in an iframe with fixed height.
The height can be set in the BIP preferences, but only to a fixed value (not to something like "100%"). If the height is smaller than the users browser window, then there is unused space below the pdf output. If the height is greater than the users browser window, there are two scrollbars to the right: One for the html-Page and one for the PDF.
I tried the following options:
1. http://<bip-server:port>/xmlpserver/public/<report-name>.xdo?_xmode=4&_xf=pdf
-> Output is PDF, only the PDF is shown (_xmode=4), opens in same browser window but height is limited.
2. http://<bip-server:port>/xmlpserver/public/<report-name>.xdo?_xmode=4&_xf=pdf&_xpt=1
-> PDF is not opend in browser window, but can be downloaded or opened in a separate PDF-Viewers window.
I would like to just open the PDF in the browser window in full height. How can I achive this?Hello Yesh,
you can open PDFs as a guest user (without authentification):
1. Allow Guest Access (Admin -> Security Configuration -> Check "Allow Guest Access" and select a folder name).
2. Copy your Report into this guest folder
3. You can open the Report as PDF with a link like this:
http://(bip-server-name):9704/xmlpserver/(guest-folder-name)/(report-name)/(report-name).xdo?_xpt=0&_xf=pdf&_xmode=4(&report-parameters)
Just replace the strings in brackets. You find a great description of the URL parameters in Tim Dexters Blog
http://blogs.oracle.com/xmlpublisher/2006/07/accessing_xmlp_enterprise_repo.html
I didn't find an option to set the height of the PDF-Output for the guest user in the BIP-UI. Maybe I missed something. But you can manually edit the configuration file. It is located on your BIP server direcory in the subdirectory xmlp/XMLP/Users. Select the guest users subdirectory and edit the configuration file "user~.profile".
In this XML config file there is an entry "viewerHeight". In the Value-Tag you can enter the PDF output windows height in pixel (but unfortunaly not in % - this was the question of my original posting).
Hope that helps...

Can I have links open in a new browser window?
Is it possible to have links to pages outside of my website to open in a new browser window?
I've created a podcast for my students to listen to.
I've also created a kind of fill-in-the-blank activity to go along with that podcast, but that activity requires a different window.
I want my students to listen to the podcast and do the fill-in at the same time.
So, I'd like for the students to open the link to the fill-in and then click on the podcast on the original page.
Advice?changing podcast links is a bit difficult - but here is a general link of how to open windows in a new window:

Open links in new browser window
We are using Oracle WCI 10.3/Collaboration 10.3 and have a Community Links Portlet (collab portlet) setup. The links open up in the same browser window and to get back to the portal, the user has to hit the back button on the browser. So,
1) Is there a portal/collaboration configuration that enables links to open up in a new browser window?
2) Is there a way to hide the address bar when the link opens up in a new window? (the reason for this question is, we may have a link to some applications where we don't want the user going in directly. So, by hiding the address bar, they can't copy the URL and access directly without going in through the portal).
If there is any better way to do question 2 above, would appreciate the feedback.
Thanks.I was able to figure this out:
1) In the My Account section, under display preferences, there is an option to "open documents in same window" or "new window". By changing this, links in the Community Links portlet open up in a new browser window.
2) With a simple javascript example that I found on the internet, I was able to customize the popup browser window with no address bar or menu buttons.
