How to pass PL/SQL ref cursor to Access DB

We have a package in Oracle with a stored procedure in it. This procedure has a ref cursor that returns a value from table in Oracle.
How can we pass this ref cursor to our tables in Access?

The same way you pass any other parameter to Access. I don't know enough enough about Access to answer the specific question, but you'll find oodles of samples for working with ref cursors and ODBC/ASP/OCI/MFC over at Tom Kyte's place.

A cursor is not a result set. A cursor is not a result set. Worth repeating several times as this is a common misconception
A cursor is essentially a program. Executable code that was compiled from a SQL source code program.
A SELECT cursor is "read" program. Each fetch instruction runs this program (from its current "paused state"), and outputs data.
An INSERT cursor is a "write" program. You pass data to it (process called binding, via bind variables). You then execute the program. It writes the data it received (can be bulk data via a bulk bind) to table.
Now your question is: How do I write the output of a cursor program back to the database?
The answer is that a "write" cursor program is needed. Your code needs to execute (fetch output from) the ref (read/select) cursor. Then bind that data to the "write" cursor and execute it.
In other words, you have a read cursor and a write cursor, and you need to pass data from one to the other.
HOWEVER.. This is slow. This does not scale. This is also known as slow-by-slow row by row processing.
The correct approach is to create a single program. One that reads the data, and then writes the data. No to send data via a detour through your code between the read part and write part.
The cursor to create is an INSERT..SELECT cursor. This can do fast direct path inserts. This can be executed in parallel - i.e. the database executing several copies of this read-and-write program at the same time.

How to accumlate resultsets in ref cursor

I have 3 cursor which query on different tables and return the same columns. I need to accumulate the result set of 3 cursors into a single ref cursor. Is this possible. If so how.

It's possible, but it's not recommended. Do you have any control of the situation (can you just write 1 query)?
If you have absolutely no option, you can user record types (you will need a SQL type created), BULK COLLECT the contents of cursor1, cursor2 and cursor3 into that, and then return a REF CURSOR that is

How to get an UPDATABLE REF CURSOR from the STORED PROCEDURE

I saved the recordset into a XML file and there's no

It is not possible through ADO/OLEDB.
Try ODP.NET currently in Beta, it is possible to update DataSet created with refcursors. You need to specify your custom SQL or SP to send update/insert/delete.
As I remember there is a sample with ODP.NET Beta 1 just doing this.

Ref Cursor - How to append records into ref cursor?

Is it possible to append ref cursor?
Iam having a procedure which accepts 1 string as input
parameter. That string will have list of ID delimited by comma.
I want to extract & match every ID with some tables.
My problem is for first ID i would get 10 records
and for 2nd ID i 'l get other 20 records. But while returning
i need to send the same(10 + 20 records) as ref cursor(OUT parameter).
But in below given code i could send only last 20 records. first
10 records are not append/updated into ref cursor.
How to append 2nd 20 records with 1st 10 records? so that i can
send all the 30 records.

I have build forms6 block base ona stored procedures with ref
cursor.
But....it's impossible to pass variables from block.item to
in-out parameter of ref cursor..to make a where clause for
example!!
I've tried all..but nothing happens..
Can someone help me?

i was afraid about that..
But ..i ask to myself(retoric question..) it's possible the
development oracle team build a "black box" like a stored
procedure with ref o table of records who permit to select
million of records in few second( i selected 5 million of records
in 2 seconds..) and cannot permit to passing variables to these
cursor.. every end users production forms must be working in
this way..I don't understand..

This is my complete requirement...
For every sample in table all_f if it exists in table t1
then the output should be the concatenated value of type
for the corresponding sample. Let me know if I need to do anything else..There are million types for every sample.
The output should be
'AB35652626-G8' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 0 0
since only this id exists in c3 (table t1).
This is just a sample...I have huge number of rows to be concatenated for multiple id's.
So that is the reason why I don't want to do any processing in the loop except concatenation.

How to execute a SQL Query in Ms-Access

I've a query which fetches the data from the tables based on daily transactions.
I mean, the data gets updated daily basis.
Now, i want to send the user a Ms-access work sheet with the query written, so that when ever the query is executed, it would fetch the records (with latest updates).
I found some documents in google to, how to write sql query in ms-access.
How ever, i'm unable to find the connection setup.
how do i connect to oracle database using ms-access??

Install and configure Oracle client
Configure ODBC DSN using correct TNS name configured in first step
Link the table from Msaccess, make sure you linked the table not import it.

How to retrieve data from a REF CURSOR using OCI 8.0?

I found an example in Oracle docs (shown below) that discusses how to bind a REF CURSOR for later data retrieval, but it does not explain actually how to do the later data retrieval.

The OCI provides the ability to bind and define PL/SQL REF CURSORs and nested tables. An application can use a statement handle to bind and define these types of variables. As an example, consider this PL/SQL block:

How to put a collection into a Ref Cursor?

I am trying to create a procedure (inside a package) which fills a collection and I need to fill a ref cursor (out parameter) with this collection. I can fill the collection but I how can I fill the ref cursor? I am receiving the message "PL/SQL: ORA-00902: invalid datatype" (Highlighted below as comments)
I have a limitation: I am not allowed to create any kind of objects at the database schema level, so I have to create them inside the package. I'm writting it with SQL Tools 1.4, I'm also not allowed to do this in SQL+.

SQL>I recommend though that you test this thoroughly. There were bugs with this approach when it was newly introduced that prevented you from dropping the package.

Need Help: Using Ref Cursor in ProC to call a function within a Package

I'm calling a function within a package that is returning a REF CURSOR.
As per the Oracle Pro*C Programmer's Guide, I did the following:
1) declared my cursor with a: EXEC SQL BEGIN DECLARE SECTION and declared the cursor as: SQL_CURSOR my_cursor;
2) I allocated the cursor as: EXEC SQL ALLOCATE :my_cursor;
3) Via a EXEC SQL.....END-EXEC begin block
I called the package function and assign the return value to my cursor
e.g. my_cursor := package.function(:host1, :host2);
Now, the only difference between my code and the example given in the Pro*C Programmer's Guide is that the example calls a PROCEDURE within a package that passes back the REF CURSOR as an OUT host variable.
Whereas, since I am calling a function, the function ASSIGNS the return REF CURSOR in the return value.
If I say my_cursor := package.function(:host1, :host2); I get a message stating, "PLS-00201: identifier MY_CURSOR" must be declared"
If I say :my_cursor := package.function(:host1, :host2); I get a message stating, "ORA-01480: trailing null missing from STR bind value"
I just want to call a package function and assign the return value to a REF CURSOR variable. There must be a way of doing this. I can do this easily in standard PL/SQL. How can this be done in Pro*C ???

Folks, I figured it out. For those who may face this problem in the future you may want to take note for future reference.
Oracle does not allow you to assign the return value of a REF CURSOR from a FUNCTION ( not Procedure - - there is a difference) directly to a host variable. This is the case even if that host variable is declared a CURSOR variable.
The trick is as follows: Declare the REF CURSOR within the PL/SQL BEGIN Block, using the TYPE statement, that will contain the call to the package function. On the call, you then assign the return REF CURSOR value that the function is returning to your REF CURSOR variable declared in the DECLARE section of the EXEC SQL .... END-EXEC PL/SQL Block.
THEN, assign the REF CURSOR variable that was populated from the function call to your HOST cursor varaible. Then fetch this HOST Cursor variable into your Host record structure variable. Then you can deference individual fields as need be within your C or C++ code.

I have a PL/SQL ref cursor, I would like to pass the output from REF CURSOR to a ORACLE table
The output is Comma separated values of VARCHAR2 datatype
Pls suggest how to pass this output to a ORACLE table dynamically?

I have a procedure which gets called from a screen ( on .Net) if use pushes a particular button.
The procedure takes 15 minutes to complete.
My requirement is to intimate the front end(.Net) as soon as the procedures gets called successfully without waiting for its completion as it is going to take 15 mins.
The reason being, the front end will popup a message saying that " The process is going to take long time, A mail will be sent to u after its completion" once it has been intimated that the procedure has been called successfully.
Could you please suggest can i return a cursor to front end without even manipulating the data.
i hope my question is understandable.

It seems to me that your problem is not an Oracle one, but a user interface one.
I'm assuming the slowness of the procedure is due to how long it's taking to query the data, and if you can't speed that up then, to have the procedure return a ref cursor, the connection between the front end and the procedure must be maintained (the process on Oracle must belong to a session, and the front end needs to be connected to that session).
So, you can't have Oracle go off and start a seperate process and then pass back the ref cursor when it's finished, because even though you can spawn off seperate processes such as using DBMS_JOB or DBMS_SCHEDULER, they will run in their own 'session' and the calling code won't keep a hold on any of those sessions... they're effectively stand-alone and seperate.
What you'll have to do is likely get your .net application to spawn off a child process to the main app, that presents the message saying it'll take some time, does the call to Oracle and waits for Oracle to return the resultant ref cursor, which it can then pass back to the main application etc. Due to .net allowing for multi-tasking, that is where the split processing should take place.
