Is there a way in Pages to do this?

Perfect task for my good old friend :

  • How to add a hyperlink in the text caption?

    Hi,
    I am using Captivate 5. Anybody knows how to insert a hyperlink in a text caption? For example, the texts in the text caption are "See Adobe Captivate Forum for details." How to create a hyperlink for "Adobe Captivate Forum" which leads to the forum website?
    Thanks,
    Helen

    There is no tru hyperlink object in Captivate as such.
    You can use a button or a click box to provide users with an interactive object that when clicked will call a URL or document.
    However, this doesn't really give you a mouse rollover effect the way users are accustomed to seeing in normal web hyperlinks.
    If you really want to add a piece of on screen hyperlinked text (with rollover effect) to a Captivate project, the closest you'll come to it is this widget: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/hyperlink

  • How to paste a hyperlink

    I am still a newbie to my Mac and I can not seem to figure out how to paste a hyperlink where someone else can just click on the link I send them and not have to cut and paste the link.
    Thanks

    Hi Ali B,
    Thanks for your reply, I did mean the link (URL) in Discussions and a Link within a Thread - Which is why I was confused. I also do not read code. I'm not so sure that Herknav meant this - I think he was asking about for mail and etc.
    Hi Herknav, If you were asking for your mail or ichat then - Highlight the http:// address on your top tool bar - then choose Edit > Copy - then go to whatever you're typing to and click the cursor (flashing vertical line) to the spot you want the link to appear - then at your top tool bar again choose Edit > Paste and your link should paste to the location you had put your flashing cursor....It will not look like it's active - however once you send it you can check in your send folder and see it's highlighted as a link that can be clicked.
    Hi Brian Eater,
    I already use the copy-paste for mail and ichat - I was trying to understand George Orville's informed help - and assumed it was for threads and discussions. Thanks for your reply.

  • How to Improve Design for HTML, Plain Text and Multiple Recipients?

    Hello there,
    JavaMail programming is so fun! I first start off mixing the JavaMail code inside a servlet and then refactored it to two separate classes.
    Mailer is the independent class which uses JNDI to look up config parameters, sends e-mails, and then closes the connection with the protocol.
    public class Mailer {
         private Session mailSession;
         protected void sendMsg(String email, String subject, String body)
         throws MessagingException, NamingException {
              Properties props = new Properties();
              InitialContext ictx = new InitialContext(props);
              Session mailSession = (Session) ictx.lookup("java:/Mail");
              String username = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.user");
              String password = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.password");
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
              message.setSubject(subject);
              message.setRecipients(javax.mail.Message.RecipientType.TO,
                        javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.parse(email, false));
              message.setText(body);
              message.saveChanges();
              Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtps");
              try {
                   transport.connect(username, password);
                   transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).warn("Message sent");
              finally {
                   transport.close();
    }MailController is just a simple Java servlet where a Mailer object is instantiated and a String is passed inside the Mailer.sendMsg() method.
    public class MailController extends HttpServlet {
         /** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String HTML = "text/html";
         myapp/** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String PLAIN = "text/plain";
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              doPost(request, response);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType(PLAIN);
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String mailToken = TokenUtil.getEncryptedKey();
              String body = "Hello there, " + "\n\n"
                        + "Wanna play a game of golf?" + "\n\n"
                     + "Please confirm: https://localhost:8443/myapp/confirm?token="
                     + mailToken + "\n\n" + "-Golf USA";
              Mailer mailer = new Mailer();
              try {
                   mailer.sendMsg("[email protected]", "Golf Invitation!", body);
                   out.println("Message Sent");
              catch (MessagingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch (NamingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }Have some design issues...
    If you can notice, I manually place the body of the e-mail (as a String) from inside the client (in this case, a Java Servlet). Also, I manually have to switch the content type inside the doPost().
    Question(s):
    (1) How can the Mailer class be set up, so it can send both HTML and plain text messages?
    (2) How can the Mailer class be structured to send e-mail to multiple recipients or one user?
    (3) Would both of these features / actions require writing two overloaded methods for sendMsg()?
    Would appreciate it if someone could help me...
    Happy programming,
    Michael

    Okay, I came up with this single method:
    Mailer.java:
    public class Mailer
         private Session mailSession;
         protected void sendMessage(String email, String recipient, String subject,
                   String plainText, String htmlText)
            throws MessagingException, NamingException
              Properties props = new Properties();
              InitialContext ictx = new InitialContext(props);
              Session mailSession = (Session) ictx.lookup("java:/Mail");
              String username = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.user");
              String password = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.password");
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
              InternetAddress from = new InternetAddress(email);
              InternetAddress to = new InternetAddress(recipient);
              message.setSubject(subject);
              message.setFrom(from);
              message.addRecipient(Message.RecipientType.TO, to);
              Multipart multipart = new MimeMultipart();
              BodyPart messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
              messageBodyPart.setText(plainText);
              multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
              messageBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
              messageBodyPart.setContent(htmlText, "text/html");
              multipart.addBodyPart(messageBodyPart);
              message.setContent(multipart);
              Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtps");
              try {
                   transport.connect(username, password);
                   transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).info("Message sent");
              catch (Throwable t) {
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).error("Unable to Send Message");
                   t.printStackTrace();
              finally {
                   transport.close();
    }Created a MailController class to instantiate and run the Mailer class.
    public class MailController extends HttpServlet {
         // doPost() method()
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType(PLAIN);
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String mailToken = TokenUtil.getEncryptedKey();
              String plainText = "Hello there, " + "\n\n"
                        + "I wanna invite you to a game of golf!" + "\n\n"
         + "Please confirm: https://localhost:8443/myapp/confirm?token="
                        + mailToken + "\n\n" + "-Golf USA";
              String htmlText = "<H1>Golfer Challenge!</H1>";
              Mailer mailer = new Mailer();
              try {
                   String from = "[email protected]";
                   String recipient = "[email protected]";
                   String subject = "Golf Challenge";
                   mailer.sendMessage(from, recipient, subject, plainText, htmlText);
                   Logger.getLogger(
                               this.getClass()).info("Message Sent to: " + recipient
                                                              + " from: " + email);
                   out.println("Message Sent to: " +
                                             recipient + "\n" + " from: " + email);
              catch (MessagingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch (NamingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }Question(s):
    (1) How come the Multipart Alternative only supports HTML for the second part? Can I specify it to send HTML first and plainText second?
    (2) How would I send in multiple recipients? Would I have to pass in an array reference (surrounded by a for loop) inside sendMessage() as follows:
    mailer.sendMessage(from, myArray, subject, plainText, htmlText);
    Thank you for all of your help!

  • How do you a file to plain text?

    I Have a resume that i want to change to plain text, it's driving me crazy, someone help.

    Or if you have Acrobat, save a PDF from AI and open in Acrobat and from File>Export choose Word document or RTF.

  • How do I set up a plain, text only document?

    I've been using TextEdit for all my word processing for the past several years. Now, I'd like to use iWork 09
    but for the life of me can't figure out how to do a PLAIN old text document. The margin markers won' move outside
    of the  1" pre-set border the blank page opens in default.  Text boxes show up even though I've selected "blank page".
    I just want to write a personal journal. I want to start at the upper right of the page and write until I'm done.
    Flowing from one page to the next automatically with approx. 1/2" side margins and maybe 1/2- 1" top and bottom.
    Everything's so complicated now in comparison to the old Apple Works programs--from a number of  years ago.
    I understand for those who use it for other things such a letters,  newsletters,  pamphlets, flyers, any number of
    business functions this is probably all very helpful and efficient, but for plain old unformatted text so far it's
    been a pain in the ___!
    Why isn't a blank page BLANK?  When I open TextEdit  a new text page is blank with nothing preset.
    No text boxes to monkey with or try to get rid of. I can set margins anywhere I want-- no hassle.
    I can write until I want to stop. I don't need to figure out how to get it go on to a second page.
    I suppose I could just keep using TexEdit but I've had this program for a couple yrs. and up until today have
    only used "Numbers".  It would be nice to be able to use the word processing as well.  I expected Numbers
    to be a bit confusing to learn how to use it again for spread sheets but so far no problems there.
    Word processing, especially simple word processing, on the other hand, I expected to be a snap and it
    has me very frustrated!  Go figure!
    Would someone please explain to me how to get a plain, blank, no text boxed, no pre-set margin, open-ended
    for  1 > infinity number of pages, completely unformatted word processing page(s) opened and ready to use?
    Also, can I  or  how can I make it a custom/user defined  "template" (?), or standard default set-up, so I don't
    have to mess with anything everytime I want this type of page?
    Thank you.

    Simple, keep using TextEdit.
    Pages is not a text editor which is what you are asking for. It is a Word Processor/DTP/Spreadsheet/Graphing application.
    Don't undersatnd why you are rushing to put all your eggs into one proprietry, single platform, unique format that Apple will ultimately abandon.
    If you want more than you are getting from TextEdit, try iText Express (free).

  • HELP!! How do I create hyperlink in a text field?

    Hi!
    I've been going through the message boards and I am not finding my answer.  I have created a form utilizing LiveCycle.  I have made the form so that it can be fillable via Reader Extended PDF.  I need to be able to put a link in a text field that the next user can just click on it, and it will take them to a document in SharePoint for review.  I've tried changing the text field to rich text in LiveCycle, but the steps to add the link in the PDF is too lengthly and not friendly.  Once I finally get it to put the link in, the end user cannot just click on it.  They have to take additional steps.  Someone on the boards mentioned something about putting a button next to the field that will convert the text of the link in the previous text field to a link, but I cannot find those instructions or understandable instructions.  The management wants it to be where you just click on the link.  How do I do this?  I am not a techie, so I need instructions in layman's terms.
    PLEASE HELP!
    Thank you!
    Maribeth

    I'm in the same boat as you, inasmuchas I taught myself LC. I've tried to replicate your issue. I'm trying to understand where the issue actually lies.
    First, I created a new document to test. I dragged the text field onto the document and stretched it to accomodate what I was going to type and entered: http://www.google.com/something
    This works as intended.
    Next I tried a link similar to yours in our own intranet: http://intranet/WebPages/support.aspx
    That also worked.
    Now, for what you're actually working with: a SharePoint document.
    I tried to paste a link to a document that I created on our Sharepoint site. The link failed! I noticed that the end of the link was truncated (something like 7 characters). So, I tried a shorter link. That worked!
    What else is happening when they click the link? Are they simply being asked to "check out" the document? Are you getting an error message like "an error has occured while opening the page"?

  • Text Edit Question:  How Do I Create/Save PLAIN TEXT??

    I've been using Macs now for over a year, and this is still an annoying quibble that I haven't sorted out. I don't know if this is the right place to raise this question or not, but there don't seem to be any other places for it, so it goes here.
    How do create and save a simple, plain text, no code, no embellishments, file using this "TextEdit" program?
    I'm familiar with Notepad in Windows. Used it for a million things for years and years. All it would do is "plain" (i.e. ascii) text. No frills whatsoever.
    No I guess TextEdit is the Mac equivalent of Notepad? But it wants to do both "plain text" and "Rich Text Format," and apparently I haven't learned how to keep them separate.
    I created a new file. I told it to make the file "plain text." Then I typed some stuff, saved and closed the file.
    But when I reopened the file, I found all this crap in the header:
    {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\cocoartf949\cocoasubrtf330
    {\fonttbl\f0\fswiss\fcharset0 Helvetica;\f1\fnil\fcharset0 LucidaGrande;}
    {\colortbl;\red255\green255\blue255;\red41\green81\blue169;}
    \margl1440\margr1440\vieww9000\viewh8400\viewkind0
    \deftab720
    \pard\pardeftab720\ql\qnatural
    \f0\fs24 \cf0 \
    And all these slashes and other code-type crap that makes the actual text I typed unreadable.
    So, somebody, please, tell me: how do I create a simple plain text file like I used to be able to do with Notepad, and not have to worry about it being all garbled when I go to re-open it.
    Should be easy, but it's not.
    --PS

    If I format fonts, even in a "plain text" document, am I going to wind up with code again when I reopen it?
    Not unless you save it as rich text.
    Why is a "plain text" document even offering me bold and italics or any other kind of formatting?
    Why would someone wanting to write plain text use bold or italics options? On the other hand, I'm sure many people would like to print and compose formatted text now and then even when they prefer to keep TextEdit in plain text mode for most of their work.
    I miss notepad. All it did was plain text. No options to confuse things. Where is the Mac equivalent of THAT??
    Try TextWrangler

  • Word 2010 - I can only paste as plain text. Paste with source formatting is mising.

    I am using Word 2010 (version 14.0.7143.5000).
    I started writing a document with different formatting/styles.  If I copy formatted text from this document and try to do a paste special, I only have the option to paste as un-formatted plain text.  My different paste options are gone.  This
    used to work.
    I have performed Windows Update patches recently.  I do not have Skype or any Skype plug-ins installed that I am aware of.  I tried running Word in safe mode and without any web browsers open.
    Any ideas?

    I eventually figured out the problem.  The problem was not in Word or a setting within Word.  The problem was that I had other programs open that were modifying the data in the clipboard, specifically Windows Remote Desktop and Tight VNC viewer.
     They were converting the data in the clipboard to plain text without my knowledge.  So once I closed VNC and change Remote Desktop not to share the clipboard between machines, the data in the clipboard kept its formatting and the different Paste
    options in Word returned.  Hopefully this information will help others with this problem.

  • Cannot create a hyperlink in a text caption

    The Captivate 7 User Guide says:
    "Select the phrase or word you want to hyperlink. You can hyperlink text in text captions or drawing objects.
    2. Click in the Format accordion of the Property Inspector and specify one of the options in the Link To list. For the description of the
    options"
    In the Format accordion, there is no "Link To list."
    There is a set of images beside Insert, one of which represents "Insert Hyperlink." However, when you have text selected in a text caption, that icon is disabled--grayed out and unclickable. It is also disabled when you single click the text-caption object and then open the Property Inspector. The "Insert Hyperlink" icon is only enabled when you open the Property Inspector for the text caption by double-clicking the text-caption object, with no text selected--however, when you then click the "Insert Hyperlink" icon, it tells you that you must select text. Catch-22.
    Does anyone know how to create a hyperlink on some text?
    Also: Does that first sentence quoted from the Captivate 7 UG mean that you can in theory create a hyperlink with a drawing object? I can't see how.
    Thank you,
    Jeff

    Yes, Lieve, I can see how entering a Shape into the equation would get me the possibility of a hyperlink. I'm not sure I know how to use the Success action you are describing, though. Do you mean that upon successfully clicking the TEB, Show the Shape (which is set as a button, and on sucessfully clicking the button the URL is opened?) If I am right, using this approach would always require the learner to open the url, whether they got the TEB correct or not.
    The workaround that I came up with was to place a click box on top of my failure caption location, and set it to open the url I wanted them to copy and paste into the TEB. (Caption reads: "Please click here to open the URL and then copy and paste it into the field above." In this case, only a failure to enter the correct information would yield the requirement to click through to the correct URL.
    Thanks to both Lieve and Rod!

    Hi guys,
    I want to know how to remove all hyperlinks in a text at once. I know how to remove one link at a time. But it's time consuming if you paste a text with a lot of hyperlinks.

  • Save results of javascript operation to a plain text file

    Hi,
    How do you save to a file using Acrobat javascript? Not a PDF file - I know how to do that - but to a plain text file.
    I have javascript that searches through a PDF document and generates some output. I can send the output to a Report (in PDF format, obviously) or to the console, but I can't see how to send it to a plain text file, which is what I need.
    Any assistance gratefully appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tim.

    Ah, great, yes that seems to do what I want.
    However, I get an error ...
    My code is as follows:
    function CreateOutput()
         // assembles text and puts it into the variable: output
         // e.g.:
         output = "Hello, world";
    var output = "";
    CreateOutput();
    this.createDataObject("testfile.txt", output);
    Unfortunately I get this error and I don't understand it!
    InvalidGetError: Get not possible, invalid or unknown.
    Doc.pageNum:6:Batch undefined:Exec
    Obviously I'm doing somethign wrong ... but what?
    Thanks very much,
    Tim.

  • "Send link" inserts plain text into an email instead of a hyperlink. How do I correct this?

    I got a new computer and installed Firefox. Previously, when is sent a link to a website, the URL automatically pasted as a hyperlink. Now it shows up as plain text requiring the recipient of my email to cut and paste the URL into his browser.
    How do I fix this?

    There is usually a toolbar button in the editor to turn a text link into a clickable hyperlink (look for a chain like button).<br />
    You can select the text and click that button to turn the link into a clickable hyperlink.<br />
    If you can't find the button then hover them all to check the tooltip of each.<br />
