How to pre-compile a JSP
Hi all,
I struckup with a doubt as fallows
How to pre-compile a JSP to Servlet(.class file) bfore the first request ,so that the first response takes same time as later responses.
Thanx Ram for ur response,
I know Tomcat is assembled with Jasper compiler. My actual doubt is I want to precompile the Jsp bfore the first request. Actually the compilation occurs at the time of first request.U said it is server specific ,can u plz s let me know the pre-compile option for WEBLOGIC Server.

Does anyone know how to pre-compile JSP so as to get faster browsing response?
I know little about JSPs but from what I can remember, JSPs are compiled first time when they are being asked to be executed .Unless changes are made to those programs they would not be compiled, as a result of that, it would run faster. Correct me if I am wrong though

How to pre-compile JSF pages?
Hi,
I am new to JSF and would appriciate if any one can help me find out how to pre-compile JSF pages?
Thanks in advance
satsdnThe same way you pre-compile JSP pages: Set it up in your faces-config.xml file.
Here's how I do it:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>AcctID</servlet-name>
<display-name>AcctID</display-name>
<jsp-file>/AcctID.jsp</jsp-file>
<load-on-startup>-1</load-on-startup>
</servlet>Put one of these tags for each JSP you want to pre-compile. The -1 load-on-startup value is important.

HI,I am using weblogic5.1 and I am unable to pre compile the jsp file. I used java weblgoic.jsc command to compile the files, but I am unable to complie some of the jsp files. Can you suggest me a better way to pre comile files and directories. Thanks,Prakash Appani
If you can compile some, but not others, then it is more than likely that
you have problems
with your JSP's. You may want to use the regular javac to compile them.
# WEBLOGIC JSP PROPERTIES
# Sets up automatic page compilation for JSP. Adjust init args for
# directory locations and uncomment to use.
weblogic.httpd.register.*.jsp=\
weblogic.servlet.JSPServlet
weblogic.httpd.initArgs.*.jsp=\
pageCheckSeconds=1,\
compileCommand=c:/jdk1.2.2/bin/javac.exe,\
workingDir=C:/weblogic/myserver/classfiles,\

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me, how to pre-compile jsp and deploy it in Tomcat and Websphere and also how stop the app server recompiling the JSP at runtime. Searched the net for but was not really that successful.Read the documentation that come along the application server. For Tomcat it's for example this: [http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/jasper-howto.html].

Pre-compile JSPs before deploying
Hi All,
what is the best way to pre-compile my JSPs and then bundle them together into
a .war file, then deploying it ???
I have like 100 jsps that i wanted to precompile and wanted to package them together
into a abc.war file, which i can further deploy to my WLS6.1 server ?
I have another instance of WLS8.1 that i wanted to do the same thing ?
can somebody please advise me something and how to do this ?
This is on Production environment.
-steveSteve, you're correct, the output jsp .classes are insterted into the war
file if compilation is successful.

Hi Raja,
Thanks for your reply. does this ant task wlappc compiles the .war fileand then
repackage into the same .war file ?
am i correct ?
please advise .....thx, steve

Coming to deployment you can either write ant task to deploy using
console.
Example
of ant task for deploying from a windows dev machine into remoteproduction
box.
Admin server need to be running for deploy to be successful.

I'm trying to pre-compile my JSPs before uploading my war to the app server.
I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.2 to compile my jsps into a .war file. However, when I deploy to the app server, with main_mode (When a JSP Changes) set to Do Nothing, it can't find my compiled JSPs.
The directory where the JSPs are compiled to in the war with Jdeveloper is a .jsps package under WEB-INF/classes.
Should they go elsewhere?Welp....after some playing around, I found that if the jsps are compiled directly under WEB-INF/classes, it works great
However, I have no idea how to change JDeveloper to tell it not to put the JSPs in the .jsp package. Any ideas? -

What is the Advantage and Disadvantage of Pre-Compiled JSP
Hi All,
What is the advantage and disadvantage of using pre-compiled JSPPro:
By pre-compiling your JSPs you don't need a java compiler on the server - just a jre.
The result? No java compiler on the server means a potential security hole patched - people can't just write and deploy jsp's willy nilly on the server.
You KNOW that all your JSPs compile before you visit them - because you have compiled them all :-). It won't fail because of a stupid spelling miskate that prevents compilation. That doesn't mean they will run without error of course...
Con:
Compiling the JSPs ties them to a particular server - unless you take the runtime along with them. -

Is it with WLS 4.5.1 possible to automatically pre-compile all JSP pages without having to do it manually for each one of them from the command line?
thank´s a lot for the information. i guess i try out some script some day. in
case it works just fine i send it over to BEA.

Salam
How can i Compile & run JSP program?
SlamYou don't directly.
A JSP page runs on a java enabled webserver (eg Tomcat)
You need one of those to run JSP pages.
When you ask for a jsp page from the server, (eg http://localhost:8080/mySite/myjsp.jsp) the webserver translates and compiles it into a servlet and then runs it for you.

WAR - how to continue compiling even when compile fails for some jsp's
i am trying to pre-compile all my jsp's and find out all the compilation
errors in all the jsp's..
i am defining a war app and i am making the weblogic server to precompile
the jsp's.. i control this from web.xml
the problem is
weblogic starts compiling the jsp's and when it hits the first error it
bails out.. i doesn't precompile the rest of the jsp's..
how do i make weblogic server to continue compiling the rest of the jsp's??
anyone??
You sure can run a Windows Form and while it is visible, run code in the Powershell script, and communicate the information from the 'main' script to the form.
To do this you need create a separate Powershell runspace and dependent on situation either use shared memory and timer in the form or delegates to directly call form elements
Please check my article at codeproject for extensive journey of using all core Windows Forms, WPF, Selenium with Powershell for tasks which often require various option prompts.
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/799161/Dealing-with-Powershell-Inputs-via-Basic-Windows-F
You find there over 40 common Windows form patterns ( prompts, grids, check/radio boxes, progress bars of many forms, tree views, item lists, passwords, tool tips, system tray widgets, browser controls, examples of using p/invoke, hosting custom controls,
dealing with selenium webdriver, dealing with selenium-unfriendly file upload dialogs etc. ) all covered there - working code for every example is provided, and the code is hosted on github.
Routine daily devops tasks of executing Powershell scripts in a complex environment suddenly become a less challenging task. Web scraping becomes more fun
