You need to install a web server (preferably Apache) and PHP
on your
local computer. For Windows, Apache is available from
http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi.
Use Apache HTTP Server 2.2.6. The
main page has a download link for Win32 Source. Don't use
that, but
click the Other Files link immediately below it, and follow
the links
for binaries and win32. The file you want is called
apache_2.2.6-win32-x86-no_ssl.msi.
Once you have downloaded it, just double-click, and install
like any
other program. When you come to a screen asking for server
information,
enter "localhost" (without the quotes) in both the Network
Domain and
Server Name fields. Otherwise, the default values are all
fine.
There are instructions for using the PHP Windows installer on
my site at
http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/php_installer.php.
Apache and PHP are preinstalled on Mac OS X Leopard, but are
not enabled
by default. To enable Apache, go to System Preferences >
Internet &
Sharing > Sharing, and select Personal Web Sharing.
Instructions for
enabling PHP on Leopard can be found on my site at
http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/php_leopard.php.
That's a brief outline. You can find much more detailed
information in
my books, the details of which can also be found on my site.

  • How execute a php script on external server

    Hi!
    Here's my problem: I want to execute a php script on a server by calling a simple url. Here an example of a possible url: http://servername/dir/scriptname.php?var1=a&var2=2.
    The return value is a html code.
    I use CVI 2012 AND 3.5!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    CVI doesn't have a http interface library (that I know of).  However, I've used the telnet library to send commands as if it is a web browser, by doing something like this:
    Fmt(tlsend, "%s<%s%s%s%s%s%s", "GET ", "http://servername/dir/", "http://servername/dir/scriptname.php?var1=a&var2=2", " HTTP/1.1\nHost: ", "servername", "\r\n");
    tlsession = InetTelnetOpen("servername", 80, 0);
    InetTelnetWrite(tlsession, tlsend, "\r\n", -1, &tlbyteswritten, 2000);
    InetTelnetRead (tlsession, tlread, 25000, &tlbytesread, 2000);
    Scan(tlread, "%s>.....", ....);
    The other option would possibly be to use InetLaunchDefaultWebBrowser () and pass along the URL of your script and use some ActiveX trickery to get the information back from Internet Explorer, but I'm not sure how well that would work, plus you'd run into problems if the end user installs another web browser.
    Oh, and CVI 3.5  ?

    Hi forms Gurus,
    I'm looking for sample code witch allow to print report on local/network printer from Forms builder.
    Plz help! it's very important.
    TYAG.

    Armand,
    for Forms and Reports 9i, the only chance is to configure the printer as a network printer that is accessible to the Reports Server. In this case pass the printer's network name as desname and destype=printer as the Reports destination (e.g. desname=\network\printername destype=printer).
    Alterantively, there exist an unsupported utility orarrp that you can get from the otn.oracle.com/products/forms web page.

  • How do i go beyond the local network?

    hey, i'm making a mini chatserver thing, and i've gotten it to work on the local network, but i was wondering if i could extend it to beyond the local network. is it possible to do this with j2se?

    Hey, i looked online at stuff, and i saw that because
    computers that i use use a private ip, i need to mess
    with some NAT and subnet mask thing to get it to
    work. can someone point me on someway i can do the
    whole private to public ip thing with the NAT stuff?
    (maybe i have it backwards).I already told you, you MUST have a public IP.
    What you read above is referring when YOU control the routers and network. Then your network cloud HAS a public IP. So you can set up forwarding so that it works.
    Do you control the network at your school? Does your school even have a public IP?
    Do you have a public IP at home on the router that connects to your broadband ISP?

    I've done by this method, but sometimes my usb card is not ready, then the boot sequence failed on the network connection.

    I think I should change to use this method.

    I'm afraid it should replaced by systemd method because I want when network connecting will trigger other systemd scripts enable.

  • How to contact Internet from my local network?

    I'm able to get onto the Internet by piggybacking on a nearby open LAN.( I am not a new user, but I'm not a computer scientist.)
    This is a desperation act because I can no longer connect to the Internet via Earthlink, my ISP. I have checked every aspect, physical connections to switching from my G5 to my iBook and back again to configure my Airport Extreme base station. I have even switched AEs. I have changed my own network stats. I have replaced the phone wire. I have changed routers. I have even changed modems, but I was unable to program it, thanks to missing instructions mostly meant for Windows users anyway.
    I am using a Broadmax DSL modem from Earthlink, and have spent close to two hours on the phone with 3 techies. They really tried to help.
    When I mentioned my phone line was from Verizon I heard ununderstandable muttering. The paranoid thought came to me: Was Verizon sabotaging Earthlink to get its customers to switch? How's that for paranoia? I even called Verizon to switch to them, but they are total incompetents -- the techies are good, if you get a good one, but the rest of the outfit haven't yet figured out what to do with two tin cans and a length of string.
    The Earthlink techies and I finally agreed it might be a bad modem and another is on the way to me.
    I am not confident.
    My first and original modem, the Broadmax, could always be fixed by going through the unplugging it for a few seconds or hours, and then I'd have no problems for many months, until I went away and unplugged it. Getting back on the Internet was a nightmare.
    The phone line, DSL, is OK. I can make voice calls over it, but the DSL just isn't there.
    Having tracked all, and I mean ALL, the usual suspects, I am on the point of hiring an Apple guy to come in and help me. But I would appreciate any advice from someone knowledgeable about this situation.

  • How to connect my macbook with local network

    hi,
    i would like to connect my macbook with the localnetwork. please guide me how to do it

  • How to screen share outside the local network

    I'd like to screen share and be able to make changes to a family iMac that resides in another country. Is this possible with any Apple software or must I go somewhere else for this kind of functionality?

    TeamViewer should get the job done for you just fine. I'm currently using it across my iMac, MacBook, and iPad. Because it has to relay the connection over the internet it can be a little sluggish at times. Hope it helps.

  • PDF files pushed by PHP scripts cannot be previewed in the browser (only "Save as" dialog is displayed). How can I fix this?

    Running Firefox 27.0 on Linux Mint Petra (16).
    Direct download links to PDF files (URLs that end in .pdf) preview or open (or whatever I set in the App preferences dialog) no problem. However, any PDF file that is pushed by a php script can only be downloaded (no matter what I set in the App preferences dialog).
    I have several PCs running the same software (Linux Mint Petra with FF 27). All of them exibit the same problem.
    I've tried all solutions to similar problems listed here. None of them worked.

    You need to install server software to process the php code and send the file as text/html to Firefox.
    <pre><nowiki><?php header('Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8'); ?>
    </nowiki></pre>

  • How to set up with cacheing DNS for local network?

    Our new Lion Server has a static IP Address pointed to over the internet by our registrar's zone file. Planning the Lion Server installation process with the intent of hosting Web, Mail and Open Directory services to a small number of users who are nearly all located off-site. I do also want Lion Server to be a caching DNS Server and DHCP authority on the local network to replace what dnsmasq does on our current Linux server.
    I am looking forward to offloading some of the lower level Linux administration tasks and putting myself in the hands of the Lion Server Setup Assistant and Server App :-) but at the same time don't understand some of  its assumptions and fear having to spend a lot of time experimenting and re-installing.
    So, specifically, I want the Server App to know that my Lion Server has a "Host Name for the Internet" but that the DNS it sets up will not be the DNS for my zone - I will be managing that through my registrar's interfaces.
    Second problem is my fnot understanding what name space devices on the local network will / should use. e.g.  The Linux server will be available for backups etc  on the local intranet (and optionally have a static ip address on the Internet) but MacBooks, PCs, iPads and iPhones will be served ip addresses by the Lion Server's DHCP. So will / should these dynamic devices have their machine names fully qualified by our domain name with RFC 1918 style ip addresses or something like .local?  How do I tell this to Lion's Server App / Setup Assistant? How easy is it to update these initial settings later?

    You do indeed need to have a master zone on lion server.  There's no way to get around that since Open Directory depends on Kerberos and Kerberos depends on the DNS.  LS scripts may see that the rDNS record exists, but I highly doubt that it'll auto configure everything for you... and given the number of possible variables, I bet that even if it worked something would need additional tweaking.
    Sounds like an interesting lab excersize.  You should try it on a test server!
    Again... you just need to folow the set up procedure that Lion Server presents you with.
    It won't be smart enough to see your external records and use them to configure a key distribution center for your OD.
    As far as your caching needs...  Could you set up your DHCP server to set the DNS server setting to show your internal server as the first hit, and your external as the second?  That way when the client requests a resolution it'll not get a hit on your local server but will from the external?
    The question then is how long will it wait for a response from the first server?  Or will the first server respond with "I don't know" sending the client immediately to the second.
    The server set up that I have works similarly.  I have an internal master DNS that is replicated to a secondary.  The first DNS has an A record (community.server.com) that points to the INTERNAL ip address of the secondary server that's also running the web service.  The first server is running DHCP.  It tells the clients to use the first and second servers as it's DNS lookup.
    Now...  Externally, my registrar hosts an A record for community.server.com that points to the external IP address of my router which then forwards the request to the proper port on the internal network.
    This way, the local clients internally look up and get a response locally when they go for community.server.com.  Externally, clients that look up community.server.com get the external connection to the router in my school.
    Yikes...  I fear that this is as clear as mud!

  • Flex application works locally, fails when online (connecting to PHP script to insert row into DB)

    Hi everyone,
    I've got a Flex application that works wonderfully when I test it on my machine locally. It uploads files and send variables to a PHP script (that inserts them into a DB) with no errors when I run it locally. As soon as I put it online, the upload continues to work but something between my Flex application and the PHP script fails because no data is committed to the DB. I know the PHP script works fine - not only does it work when I run the Flex application locally but when I go directly to the PHP file online, a new empty line is added to the DB.
    I initially thought that this was a cross domain issue so I added the following to the root of my hosted account:
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all"/>
    <allow-access-from domain="*.MYURL"/>
    <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*.MYURL" headers="*" secure="false"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>
    I based this off of what I found online which seems to have done nothing for me. I'd also be happy to provide an error message but I don't get one when I debug.
    Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Use a network monitor to see if the Flex app is truly requesting the right URL.

    I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

    first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
    that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
    i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
    then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.
