How to put smiley in text area?

Well, I am developing chat application, and I want to know
how to put smilies in some sort of text area, either movie clips or
bitmaps? I know that you can use <img> tag, but picture is
never in line with the text, it always looks wrong.
Sorry if that's been answered before, but I couldn't find
it.

I too am trying to accomplish this, although for a different
purpose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Forgot how to format HTML in Text Area

Hello all,
I totally forgot something. How do you format HTML when rendering in Text area
Suppose I pass in a string that a text area grabs for display.
xxx.getAdditionalComments(existingComments + "\n" + "<B>" + date + "<\B> " + name);The text are will always display the <B> instead of displaying the date in bold.
I remember putting escape characters eons ago but I forgot how that worked. Anyone know how to render this with date being bolded?

If you mean the textarea HTML tag for text entry fields, you don't. If you forgot anything it's that you can't do things like that.

How to capture data of text area

Hello Experts,
I have added a text area to a home page using the tag as below
<textarea id="recipient_list" rows="5" cols="40" name="recipients"></textarea>
I expect this text area to be populated at runtime. I want to use the data entered in this text area in one of the methods. But I do not know how to capture the data.
Could you please help me by telling me the way that will make this data available for use in a method of implementation class?

In general, you need to connect your text area with a context. So, you need to create a value context node with an attribute which will store the entered text. Then, you need to link you text area with this attribute.

There is no Page 0 in my application
2. You can add your custom stuff to your page templates.

How to validate characters in text area

Hello gurus!
I have a doubt in how to allow a user to only write numbres or lettrs in a text area. I'm looking in the VC options for some time and cannot find a clue. Any ideas?

If you are getting this 32K error for this field then you would get it for regular expression too. You may have to remove few unused field from your model in order to successfully deploy this. You can delete the fields that not used and try deploying again.
OR
You can try deploying using the FLEX 2 Compiler.

How to put some free text in a page

Hi gurus,
I have to put some free text(Help guidelines) in the page. But the problem is if I put them in a label or textview , the gap between Input field's labels and inputfield is getting incresed by the size of freetext. My free text will be around 3,4 line long.
I know i can break the label into separate part,but as requirement they should be continus, and fields needs to be alligned without extra spaces.
Is there any way to over come this?

How to put image behind text on new pages?

Hey I usually drag photos into my pages doc and then write text over them by selecting "place object in background" or whatever it was. I do that to make flyers and tourbooks. On the new pages it is not clear to me how to do this.

Due the rewrite of Pages v5, about 100 features and functionality are missing from the prior release of Pages, the original that now resides in your /Applications/iWork '09 folder. My recommendation is to use the older, but more functional Pages ’09 v4.3.
If you want text to flow over a background image in Pages v5, do the following:
Under the Format panel Arrange tab, set Text Wrap to None.
Drop your image in your document and position it where you want. Even opaquely over existing text.
Menu > Arrange > Section Masters
Select Move Object to Section Master
Make Master Objects Selectable
Immediately, your image is now in the background with yellow grips, and any existing text is above it. At any time, you can move or resize that image behind the text.
Still suggest you retreat to the older Pages though.

How to put boxes around text

I have a section of text that i want to put a box around as an outline
I managed to do this using the inspector - text - more - border and rules.
everything looks great in the authoring tool in both orientations.
However, When I preview the book on the ipad the boxes are perfect in landscape but the showv outlines for each line of text that ends with a carriage return.
Is this a bug with the software...

1. It's helpful to give a full and complete description of your problem when first posting in order to get a complete answer and avoid follow up posts.
2. There's no need post the same answer twice.
My answer: The stroke/line around a text box is all or nothing. If you want to eliminate the line between adjacent text boxes you'll have to draw a white line over the offending line to cover it up. Once this is done, select both text boxes and the line (using shift-click or command-click) open the Arrange menu and choose Group (or press Option-Command-G). This will keep the white line in place if the text boxes move.

i put my JTextArea on top of a JScrollPane.
i want to set the JScrollPane scroll to the end of the JTextArea everytime i do textArea.append(someString);
is there an easy way of doing this? or i have to program the logic?

This question has probably been asked a hundred times. The default behaviour is for the textare to scroll automatically if the following conditions are met:
a) the caret is at the end of the document
b) the append is done from the event thread
If you want more adice then try searching the forum. Using keywords "jtextarea scrolling" would be a good place to start.

You need to modify the input parameters in the Spreadsheet Sheet String to Array. For the delimeter, you need to specify a space. By default, the function uses a tab as a delimiter.
