How to re-fire an event?

How can I re-fire an event?
1. I have a ddlist, that when a list item is selected, it makes a subform containing some checkboxes become visible.
2. If I then select another list item, from the ddlist, it will make yet another subform appear, with more checkboxes....
This works fine.
The problem happens, when I reselect the first list item again in the ddlist.
This should behave like part 1. (shown above)
But the subform that appears is the one from part. 2
It's like I need to re-fire the change event of the ddlist?
Anyone know how I can fix this?
I can't post the form publicly, but could email it, if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,
When using the change event with dropdowns, you can't use the .rawValue as this has not been set at the point of selection. Instead you would need to use xfa.event.newText.
I would recommend moving the script to the exit event, as this will work reliably with the .rawValue.
You can script to fire an event (execEvent), but that it not your problem here.
Good luck,
Niall

  • How to set fire action event for particular rows in a table

    HI All,
    I have a requirement in which I want to set fire action event for particular rows in a table based on some condition.
    The table has columns like fullname,employee id etc.
    So i want to set fire action event for particulars rows only which will saisfy some condition.

    Atanu,
    Your approach(setting fire action for few rows) seems not possible. Better to go ahead with workaround.
    Do you want this functionality in processRequest(while page loading) or processFromRequest(on some event) method ? Give more explanation regd. your requirement ?
    In either case loop through the rows and when your condition is met write the action to be performed in controller.

  • How can I fire an event case on the value change of an indicator, or a network variable?

    Hi!  I have an event structure setup to look for a value change of an indicator on the front panel.  The indicator is updated by the value of a boolean network-published shared variable through a seperate parallel loop that is polling all of the network-published shared variables.  The event, however, does not fire when the indicator changes value.  I have switched the indicator to a control and tested it with user interaction and that works just fine.
    I want to use the event structure space for my code exectution because it seems logical that that is where it would go, and it will help keep my block diagram tity.  The code is also something I would like executed with the front pannel temperarily disabled.  I would rather not have the code in my network-variable polling loop because again the tity issue.   I would also rather not use a notification VI wired to an independent loop for this particular code.
    Is there a way to have an event structure fire an event with the value change of an indicator, or a network variable directly?
    Thanks for your input.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I went about things a little differently, but got them to work so..... .  It really was not my desire to have a boolean indicator on the front panel.  As previously stated, my ultimate goal was to have an event fire on the change of a network variable, which I had to poll for anyway but that is tucked away in a section where I am handling all my network variables.  I ended up using that Create User Event, Register User Event, and Generate User Event SubVIs to handle the task.
    I've read the help for all of those SubVI's and it is not entirely clear to me if the event fires every time the "Generate User Event" receives some inputs, or if it only fires when the value changes.  I could do a test to find out.  It wouldn't be too difficult to add a shift register or a feedback node and place the Generate User Event in a case structure so that it is only fired when the input changes state.

  • Fire another event from with an event

    How best to fire an event (say a boolean value change) from within another different event (say a second boolean value change) ? I've tried having the second event assign a value to the first boolean's Value Signaling property. This does fire the first event, but its code does not seem to be executed until the end of the second event. Both events have the event's Time property wired to front panel indicators to show when they fire. The first event also has a GetTickCount wired to a front panel indicator. The second event has a sequence structure which first changes the first boolean's Value Signaling property, then Waits 1000 msec, then performs GetTickCount. I would expect the two event's GetTickCount values to be differen
    t by 1000 msec but instead they are the same. The Time value of the first event is 1000 msec less however. Why does the first event's GetTickCount not get executed until after the delay in the event which fired it ? The same behavior occurs if CreateUserEvent and GenerateUserEvent are used in a similar manner.

    The time given by the event structure is the time the event actually was generated.
    So when you generate a user event and then wait a second until you allow that user event to actually be handled the time of the user event is not one second after. You do not change the time the event fired, you just delay when it is handled.
    The same goes for the event fired using the value property.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the response. I mean to say, if I create the components dynamically then how can I fire events for those components.
    In otherwords,
    If I create the Button dynamically with particular ID being set to that component, then how can I call button action event when the button is clicked??
    Hope you understand
    What is the role of MethodBinding mechanism here??

    Why don't you just use a mouse listener and check (by getting the x,y coordinates of the click) whether the guy has clicked on the picture?
    That would be an easy way to see if some one has clicked on something.

  • 11g: Contextual Events - How do I fire them on currency change?

    Hi!
    After posting a question here: 11g: Bounded task flows, need help and advice!
    I read the article at http://technology.amis.nl/blog/3365/adf-11g-how-events-in-one-region-cause-other-regions-to-refresh because I need to refresh region B when the user selects in region A.
    Now, the comments in that article suggest that Contextual Events are the built-in mechanism for that use case. So I tried that first. The online help suggests that this is what I need.
    I read the online help and created an event and defined a producer and consumer in the event map in the parent page's page def. Now the help shows how to fire the event when a methodAction binding is executed. But I need to fire the event when the user selects a row in region A's table.
    1. How do I do that? Where do I put the event? The help says it's possible, but does not show how. Add a selection listener to the backing bean and call the event-enabled methodAction binding from there? Or is there a better way?
    2. I get the impression, that - when I use the event to call the consumer's binding ExecuteWithParams method - just the query of the consumer's VO is executed. That's great. But how do I reset the flow to the initial action? Just refreshing the VO is not enough. I need to reset the flow to the initial action (showing a view).
    I read http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/fnimphius/taskflow_in_popup/taskflow_in_popup.html and now I am completely confused. Use input parameters or use events? If I use events, how do I reset (refresh) the task flows?
    Thanks,
    Sascha

    Sascha,
    are region A and B share the same transaction ? If yes and the content in region B is a dependency of the VO used in A then you don't need contextual events at all. So if i assume that region A contains a list of departments and region B the employee table (where DepartmentsVO is the parent of EmployeeVO) then you can do as follows
    - navigate to the region definition of region B in the pageDef file
    - use the right mouse context menu to add parameters, and then a parameter (e.g. changeIndicator)
    - wire the changeIndicator parameter to the DepartmentsVOIter current row key str (its a method exposed directly on the iterator)
    - set the region binding refresh to ifNeeded
    - set a partial trigger on the regionB to point to the departmentTable so the region is refreshed whenever the table row currency changes
    The parameter that you added just does nothing except that it indicates to the region binding that the region must refresh. You point it to the row row key of the department iterator because it provides the changed value.
    If VO in regionB is not dependent on the DepartmentVO, then you need to create a parameter on the bounded taskflow, which takes the value of changeIndicator to write it to pageFlowScope.currRowKey. Then create a set currentRowWithKey method as a default activity and wire it up to pageFlowScope.currRowKey

  • How to fire another event handler for postprocess stage

    Hi All,
    I have 3 custom event handlers for postprocess stage, for modify action on user object. The problem is tah only one event handler is executed - I use EntityManager API to modify user object. How to fire another event handlers? Do I have use UserManager API?
    best
    mp

    As Bikash stated, used a single event handler. You can put if statements in there to identity the operation, as well as if statements if the parameter is found i the list of attributes being modified. This way you will only perform the action when necessary.

  • JDev 10.1.3 ADF: How to fire an event when clicking a Radio Button

    I have a <af:table> component with the following code for my radio button
    <af:tableSelectOne text="Select and"
    binding="#{backing_viewFees.tableSelectOne1}"
    id="tableSelectOne1"

    When I click the radio button it does not fire up my event in my backing bean?

    Thank you for the suggestion...it does work and fires the event, but it is still not selecting the current record when I try to perform an Update or Delete.
    I had to modify your code a bit in order for it work in JDev 10...used the JUCtrlValueBindingRef instead of the FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding.
    Here is what my af:table tag looks like:
    <af:table value="#{bindings.FeesView1.collectionModel}"
    var="row" rows="#{bindings.Fees001View1.rangeSize}"
    first="#{bindings.FeesView1.rangeStart}"
    emptyText="#{bindings.FeesView1.viewable ? \'No rows yet.\' : \'Access Denied.\'}"

    binding="#{backing_viewFees.table1}" id="table1">

    selectionListener="#{bindings.FeesView1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
    Here is my code in the backing bean:
    public void tableSelectOne1_attributeChangeListener(SelectionEvent selectionEvent) {
    JUCtrlValueBindingRef binding = (JUCtrlValueBindingRef)this.getTable1().getSelectedRowData();
    if (binding != null) {

  • How to Fire an Event whenever clicking to Tab A, B, C on the JTabbedPane

    I have created a screen by using JTabbedPane having A,B,C Tabs on it. I need to fire one event whenever I will be clicking on Tab B or C or vice-versa. So that I can display some values from database automatically whenever I will choose Tab B or C.

    What's wrong with the events that are already fired when that happens? Add a ChangeListener to the JTabbedPane and it will receive a ChangeEvent every time a different tab is selected.

  • How to fire an event  with a non-AWT/Swing class?

    Hi, Everybody,
    I have an object that parse an XML file. When I meet an element with the value "true", I would like to fire an event, for instance a KeyEvent, just like a special key is pressed.
    Could you provide me an example?
    Thanks.
    Youbin

    use the firepropertychange methods as you do in beans.
    iam giving an eg.
    class abc
        MyListener lis;
        addMyListener(MyListener lis)
            this.lis = lis;
        abc()
            lis.fireEvent(new MyEvent("Class Instantiated"));
    class MyEvent extends EventObject
        String e;
        MyEvent(Object src)
            super(src);
        MyEvent(String e)
            this.e = e;
    interface MyListener
        public void fireMyEvent(MyEvent e);
    }You can use this methedology.Any class implementing MyListener will the be notified of the event and your class abc can now generate events wherever it wants just like i fired an event during initialization.
    you can also use observable/observer to achieve the same.

  • How to Exchange Data and Events between LabVIEW Executables

    I am having some trouble determining how to design multiple programs that can exchange data or events between each other when compiled into separate executables. I will layout the design scenario:
    I have two VIs, one called Status and the other Graph.  The Status VI displays the serial number and status of each DUT being tested (>50 devices).  The Status VI has one timed loop along with a while loop that contains an event structure.  If the user clicks on the DUT Status Cluster the event structure needs to pass the serial number to the Graph VI.  The Graph VI when called fetches the records for the DUT based on the Serial Number and time frame.  This VI is a producer/consumer so the user can change the time frame of the records to display onto the front panel graph.
    I have a couple reasons the VIs need to be separated into independent applications. One being the underlying database fetches tends to slow the threads down between the two VIs; the other is that they may be distributed into separate systems (don't consider this in the design criteria).
    I have been researching the available methods to pass the serial number to the Graph VI.  My initial idea was to us a command line argument, but this does not allow the Status VI to pass another Serial Number to the Graph once it has started (I do not want to allow the user to execute multiple Graph applications because the database query can load down the server).
    Is there a program method that I can implement between the two VIs that will allow me to compile them as two executables, and allow the Status program the repeatedly send an updated serial number event to the Graphs program.
    I have reviewed many methods; Pipes (oglib_pipe), Action Engine, and Shared Variable.  I am not sure which method will give me the ability to use a Event driven structure to inform the Graphs program when to update the serial number.  Any suggestions and tutorials or examples would be greatly appreciated.

    I have used the Action Engine (aka: functional global) approach for many years and it works well. Something to think about is that if you make the event's datatype a variant the only code that will need to know the actual structure of the event will be the function that needs to respond to it. Hence, a single event can service multiple functions.
    Simply create a cluster containing an enum typedef that is a list of the functions that the event will service, and a variant that will be the function event data. From anywhere in the code you can fire the event (via the functional global) by selecting the function from the enum and converting function specific data to a variant. On the receiving end the event handler uses the enum to determine the function that is to get the data and sends the variant to it. The event handler doesn't know or care what the actual event data is so you could in theory add new functions without modifying the event handler.

  • Possible to highlight a row in text area which in turn would fire an event?

    I'm making a GUI of which the main portion consists of a large text area. The text area would list problems that our company is experiencing - each row would represent a problem. Each row would give a problem ID and a description of the problem. I want to make it so that when the user clicks on a row (a problem), another dialog box would open which would present possible solutions to the user regarding the problem at hand. How would I write code to highlight a row which in turn would fire an event opening up another box?
    I thought about going about this another way - have a drop down (jcombobox) integrated into each row which the user can choose from but I'm not sure if you can insert a drop down into a text area (and neatly into a row at that!) so I think the former way may be preferable.
    Thanks in advance.

    If a java application is required (as opposed to a web-based solution using HTML's linking capabilities) the best approach might be a JList implementation. It could go something like this...
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    public class ListFrame extends JFrame
       public ListFrame()
          super("JList example frame");
          getContentPane().add(getListPanel(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
          setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
          pack();
          setVisible(true);
       private Component getListPanel()
          JPanel panel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout());
          final JList list = new JList(new Object[]
             "List option 1...",
             "List option 2...",
             "List option 3..."
          // This will make sure only one item can be checked at a time.
          list.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
          // Handle the selection here.
          list.addListSelectionListener(new ListSelectionListener()
             public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e)
                // No need to go on if this was a deselection.
                if (e.getValueIsAdjusting() || list.isSelectionEmpty())
                   return;
                // This is where you would have to convert the value that's selected into whatever
                // it is you want to display to the user.  This example just puts the text of the
                // selected item into a messagebox.
                Object selectedItem = list.getSelectedValue();
                JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(ListFrame.this, selectedItem);
          list.setVisibleRowCount(5);
          // The scrollpane will control the scrolling of the list (so you can have as many options
          // as you want).  Standard JScrollPane functionalities can be used to control various
          // visual aspects of the list.
          JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane(list);
          scroll.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
          panel.add(scroll, BorderLayout.CENTER);
          return panel;
       public static void main(String[] args)
          new ListFrame();
    }I know this is quite after-the-fact, but I hope it helps (if you hadn't already solved the problem :) )

    Hi,
    I have 2 main DCs bound. Now from DC2 I have to read the Context of DC1 (which is bounded to another application).
    To bind your context from DC1 to DC2
    Copy the context that you want to expose from the component controller to interface controller of DC1.
    Once this is done you will be able to see the context in DC2.
    Based on your requirement you can set the Input type property of the context node.
