Where do I get the Excell API from? Because, when I wrote the following import statement:
import jxl.;*
eclipse IDE is throwing error. Is it a separate API? If it is a separate API, then how do I integrate it with Java?
A step-by-step procedure would be a great help.

How to read an excel file which contains multiple tabs using File adapter

Hi BPEL gurus,
I have a requirement where i need to read an EXCEL file, which has three tabs inside the file. All the three tabs has data in it. I have seen few examples where file adapter reads an excel file with data present inside a single tab but not with multiple tabs.
If anyone has worked on this scenario, please provide your suggestions/inputs/links etc.

For reading excel file follow the steps :
1. Use a File upload UI element and bind it with xstring.
2. Now your excel will be uploaded and stored in Xstring.
3. Convert Xstring to String data using FM 'HR_KR_XSTRING_TO_STRING'.
4. Now split the string at new line so as to make an internal table .
Ex . SPLIT l_string AT cl_abap_char_utilities=>newline INTO TABLE it_table.
here it_table is type table of string.
5.now loop at the internal table and separate the content of this table separated by tab.
Ex. SPLIT wa_table AT cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab INTO TABLE it_new.
it_new type string_table.

How to read .cvs(excel file) in mail attachment

Hi,
I'm using java mail to read the attachment in mail. The attachment are excel file which is in .csv format.
I'm able to save the attachment to my hard drive which is in .dat format. i tried to use MimeUtility.decodeText() to decode it back to .csv format but it doesn't work.
Anyone have any suggestion on how to decode it back to the previous format?

How to read an excel file with unknown fields

I am trying to import data from an Excel file through java.. [Netbeans as the IDE] I got this sample running code online [http://rgagnon.com/javadetails/java-0362.html] which was very helpful.. but i want to read from an excel file even if i dont know the fields in it.. Is this possible somehow?

Edit: If you insist on using the bridge, then take a look at the DatabaseMetaData class, or do a select * and look at the ResultSetMetaData class, although you are much better off not trying to use a Spreadsheet as a database, it isn't one, after all.

I checked the specifications of this Function Arbitrary Waveform Generator and I found that it is GPIB complaint. Instruments with GPIB protocol can be controlled using GPIB commands, but each instrument could have different GPIB commands. Despite this, most providers have "standard" commands among its products.
I checked some documentation and found a help file that describes the GPIB commands used by this device, so the options are:
1. Wait for someone to develop an Instrument Driver for this instrument.
2. Check if you find any other Function Arbitrary Waveform Generator of the same brand that uses the same commands and for which there is already an instrument driver.
3. Create your own instrument driver.

How to open a excel file in WLS 8.1 server.

Dear Sir,
I have created a excel file in WLS 8.1 Application server.
Now I used method as redirectURL(req,resp,Population.xls) to open that file but it failed to open it.
If I give the full path as 'D://USER_OBJETS/APPLICATION/Population.xls'
but it tried to open from client PC not from the server.
so the problem, I managed to create file in server but unable to open it.
Kindly advise how to resolve this problem.

If you would like to create a package/procedure in order to solve this problem consider using the UTL_FILE in built package, here are a few steps to get you going:
1. Get your DBA to create directory object in oracle using the following command:
create directory TEST_DIR as ‘directory_path’;
Note: This directory is on the server.
2. Grant read,write on directory directory_object_name to username;
You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.
3. Logon as the user as mentioned above.
Sample code read plain text file code, you can modify this code to suit your need (i.e. read a csv file)
