How to read an itl file from iTunes

Ebooks are stored in an itl file in iTunes, not in an xml file, as with the music data.
How can I read, extract information from an itl file?
And why doesn't the iTunes developers use xml-xsl?

Hi,
Further to my earlier post, I would have thought that you would have been able to extract information about store books like you do for the store songs.
Extract from http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1660
"This file contains some (but not all) of the same information stored in the iTunes Library file. The purpose of the iTunes Library.xml file is to make your music and playlists available to other applications on your computer. In Mac OS X other iLife applications (like iPhoto, iDVD, and iMovie) use this file to make it easier for you to add music from your iTunes library to your projects."
If the info is not on the xml file, I cannot offer any other suggestions.

  • How do I import audio files from itunes to my project?

    I know this could be very easy, I've imported music files from disc to projects before, but they keep going off line. So I want to find out an easier/better process to import music files from itunes into my FCP projects.
    G5: 1G,   Mac OS X (10.4)

    #5 Imported music from CD or iTunes
    Shane's Stock Answer #5:
    To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
    File > preferences > importing > import using - AIFF encoder > Setting - Custom
    Sample Rate - 48.000 kHz
    Sample size - 16 bit
    Channels - Stereo
    If you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well.
    If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I'm afraid I can't help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

  • How to read an audio file from the disk and play it?

    Do you know who to read an audio file from the hard disk and play it. It's for an application and not an applet. I tried with the Applet.newAudioClip(URL url) thing, but I keep getting a MalformedURLException.
    And is there a way to get the path of the file you are using? Currently I'm doing this:
    File file = new file("randomname");
    string = file.getAbsolutePath();
    file.delete();
    I'm sure there's a better way. And this is not for an applet, just a normal app.

    Below is a class that should be of use to you.
    package com.sound;
    import java.io.File;
    import javax.sound.sampled.AudioFormat;
    import javax.sound.sampled.AudioInputStream;
    import javax.sound.sampled.AudioSystem;
    import javax.sound.sampled.Clip;
    import javax.sound.sampled.DataLine;
    public class SoundPlayer implements Runnable {
         String filename;
         public SoundPlayer(String filename){
              this.filename = filename;
              Thread t = new Thread(this);
              t.start();
         }//SoundPlayer constructor
         public void run(){
              playSound();
         }//run method
         public boolean playSound(){
              try {
                   File file = new File(filename);
                   AudioInputStream stream = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(file);
                   AudioFormat     format = stream.getFormat();
                   DataLine.Info info = new DataLine.Info(Clip.class, format);
                   Clip clip = (Clip)AudioSystem.getLine(info);
                   clip.open(stream);
                   clip.start();
                   while (clip.isRunning()) {
                       Thread.sleep(100);
                   clip.close();
              catch (Exception e) {
                  System.err.println("Error in run in SoundPlayer");
                   return false;

  • Does anyone know how to remove books/ePub files from iTunes

    Hi.
    I need help.
    I read a lot of book from my iPad.
    I have no problem gelting my books from iTunes to iPad. Problem is, now there is lot lot of books in iTunes, and tis difficult to figure out which i havnet read. So how do i remove them from iTunes. Hope there is a way.

    Hello Zentha,
    You can definitely delete the books from iTunes!  It is the same as deleting anything else from iTunes:
    Delete an item from your library
    Click the item to select it, and press the Delete key.
    Click Delete Item.
    Do one of the following:
    Remove the item only from your iTunes library: Click Keep File.
    Delete the item from your computer: Click Move to Recycle Bin. The item is removed the next time you empty the Recycle Bin.
    You can find the full article here:

  • How to read a XML file from BLOB column and insert in a table - PL/SQL Only

    Hi,
    To make data load more simple to end user instead placing file on the server and use SQL-LOADER, I came up with new idea that using oracle ebusiness suite attachment functionality. that loads a XML file from local PC to a database column(table is fnd_attachments, default data type is BLOB over here).
    I tried with DBMS_LOB and didnt get around.
    Please can anyone tell me how to read the BLOB column using PL/SQL and store the data in a oracle table. Here's the sample XML file and table structure FYI.

  • I can burn CDs from Windows Media Player, but not from itunes.  I always get Error 2131.  How do I transfer music files from itunes to Window Media Player Library?...or convince itunes to burn a CD?

    Cannot burn CD from itunes.

    The thing is, they are in the unprotected format? (
    They are protected WMA from when you RIP'd them with WMP. iTunes will not read them.
    Go to WMP Tools -> Rip Music.
    Under Rip settings, it is set to *Windows Media Audio* and most likely *Copy protect music* is ticked. This is how it is protected.
    You will need to reRIP them all from CD.

    You can't do that, at least not with an unsigned applet.
    Sign your applet and it should work just like normal file access.

  • How to read a text file from other machine???

    I have a text file located in local machine. I use th e code below to retrieve data from that particular text file.
    String realPath     = (String)getServletContext().getRealPath("");
    BufferedReader holsFile = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(realPath + "/webpages/holidays.txt"));My question is , how could I retrieve the records from the tsxt file if the file is located in another machine or webserver?
    Thanks for advanced.

    It's ok to be new.
    The answer is yes. (But I'll let you look in the javadoc to see which package it's in).
    Also it may be worth understanding that there is no such thing as a "function" in java, operations are termed "methods". To go further, you should realise that URL is a class not a "function" or method. The parentheses mean you're calling the constructor.
