How to read StarOffice Spreadsheet using Oracle Form?

Hi all
I want to read StarOffice spreadsheet with few columns in Oracle forms.
I have done this with Microsoft Excel but not with StarOffice.
Does anyone have idea regards how to do this?

We've done this using the OpenOffice 2.4 / LibreOffice UNO interface. There are a bunch of JAR files which are distributed together with OpenOffice: unoloader.jar, juh.jar, jurt.jar, ridl.ar, unoil.jar (in the %OPENOFFICE_HOME%/program/classes directory). You can find the documentation here (technically it's easier than OLE because OpenOffice provides a Java implementation of UNO. However, the documentation is far from being as good as Microsoft's Office API docs):

I m facing an issue while opening a connection to the generated spreadsheet. It says "{"External table is not in the expected format."}".

Do i need to change anything to this string ? I tried using a dataset and calling dataSet.ReadXml(excelFileName); But the dataset doesnt contain my table. Any inputs on how to read an xml spreadsheet ?

How to select local printer using oracle forms 10g

Dear All
We have developed ERP solution in oracle 10g forms & reports. and deployed on web using oracle apllication server 10g. I need help when we are giving print from oracle forms directly it goes to server default printer. instead we want
to select local printer installed on client terminal.

How use oracle forms with oracle database in a local computer network(client -server homogenious network)

Hello experts,
                     I am new in Oracle forms.I am using oracle forms 11g with weblogic server 10.3.5 and oracle database 11g at windows 7 platform.
I want to call my oracle forms(main login form) from different computers(windows7) connected in a local network.My oracle database is installed in a server computer.I am not talking about oracle forms hosting in internet.I want to deploy oracle forms in a local computer network connected via LAN cable or wi-fi.

In most cases you can copy the same entry found in the tnsnames.ora file used by the database. In the database home, the file can be found in \network\admin. Open the file and you should find something like this:
yourAlias =
(DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.0.100)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVICE_NAME = orcl)
So in the above, you would need to set the alias (this can be anything you like), the IP address or hostname of the machine where the database is running, the port number used by the db listener, and the service name used by the db. Most of this will already be set for you if you are copying from the database tnsnames.ora. So you should be able to just copy and paste. More information about the tnsnames.ora file can be found in the db documentation:

i tried it...but i am getting mapping error no receiver determination fond because there are so many excel files.
my data is available on sharedString.xml but also it is in not same order.
i have no clue how to handle this part form the blog.

The only thing that's left is to create an XSD file from the XML file we received in order to be able to use it in the mapping and as our Service Interface and we can proceed with mapping. As you can see from the sheet.xml files all the data is placed with column name and row number so it's not that difficult to map it to an table type format using the Message Mapping only (no java, abap mapping required)."

Does it exist a manual for learning to use Oracle Forms?

What I'm looking for is a manual or tutorial for using Oracle Forms.
Looking at Oracle Documentation link http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/10g-forms-091309.html I haven't found an user or developer guide.

Problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.

I have encountered a problem about using Oracle Form 6i to connect Oracle Database 10g express.
As I would like to
I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to create a connection.
According to "tnsnames.ora", the paramater of connection is as follows;

Unfortunately, when I use Oracle Net8 Easy Config to test the connection, an error message is prompted as follows:
Connecting....
The test did not succeed.
ORA-03106: fatal two-task communication protocol error
There may be an error in the fields entered
or the server may not be ready for a connection.
You can check the server and retry, or continue.
After I google it, I still have no idea how to solve the problem. I would like to ask, could anyone mind providing some hints or solution to address the issues.

I don't believe the Net8 Easy Config (NEC) will create a compatible entry in the tnsnames.ora. I have Forms 6i running successfully against a 10g Express database, but I did not use the NEC - I created the entry myself. Here is the entry I use:

      (HOST=<<servername or IP address>>)

Do you have a requirement to use MS-Outlook from the Client or simple send email to a list of recipients? If the requirement is simply to send email to a list of recipients, I suggest you use UTL_SMTP from the database to send your email rather than OLE to Outlook on the Users computer. Search OTN or the forums for 'MAILDEMO' and you will find many examples on how to send email from the database.

How to run batch file from oracle forms 9i

when i press the button, nothing uploads in my database. (when i simply run the batch file it works).

How to access environment variables from Oracle Forms

Hi,
Any idea how to use the Environment variables from Oracle Forms.
My basic problem is that from Oracle form I am calling Batch file which calls excel file with a macro.
So i want to check whether the macro was successful or not.
So in my batch file i will set %errorlevel% which I should be able to read from Oracle Forms.
I am able to read the registry from oracle forms, so is there anyway to read environment variable as well?

How can I code this in Oracle Forms?

I have a master-detail form. In the detail block, I have several records. Here is my name table.

1 old Mike
2 Current John

I would like to create a button trigger which shall perform the following:
1) insert a record into database with a copy of current value. In the above case it will insert create a record for John as name_type = 'OLD'. So we have total of 5 records. Commit the transaction.
2) Scroll through my detail records (5) and go to one specific record and erase the values from it. In the above case, it should find John's record with name_type = 'Current' and erase John from it.
How can I accomplish this in Oracle forms using a button-pressed trigger?

Simple, using current values you can create new id , 'old' and name so oracle will create record, now refresh block, next using next_record in loop you can find record,erase one and refresh block.

How to Save a File in Oracle Forms 6 ?

Dear All,
I am using Oracle Forms 6. I need to save a file in .lst format.
I am using,
flnm:=get_file_name('E:\',file_filter=>'Text Files(*.lst|*.lst|');
I f I use this, It prompts me to save the file. I want to save it automatically without asking me to enter the file name. We can get file name too from the above syntax

But i dont want the system to prompt me to save manually. It must be saved in the proper location as mentioned.

I have no idea what "Oracle Hetrogenius Services" is, so I can't help you with that, sorry.
SQL Developer might also assist you. SQL Developer can connect to SQL Server as well as Oracle and has some tools for migration. See the documentation for details:
