How to recompile menus in the database?

Hi,
If add any function (SSWA jsp) to menu, it is asking recompile your menus in the database.
Please let me know how to recompile menus in the database?
Thanks,
Prasad Raju.

When you add a function to a menu and save your work, it would submit "Compile Security" concurrent program to recompile your menus in the database. To verify, go to (Requests > View).

    How do I tell if the database engine is installed?

    I'm quite surprised that with all the answers you have been given, nobody has noticed the obvious. In actual fact everyone is sorta right. The answer to your question of whether you have the db engine installed is ...yes an no ;)
    You do not have the traditional engine installed, but you do have sqlexpress localdb.

    Hi,

  • How much documents are therein the database maxdb???

    Hi,
    My boss wants to know how many documents are in the database......how can I know???
    Thanks in advance!!
    Nerea.

    Hello Nerea,
    first of all it would be good to know which application you are using.
    Are you talking about a content server?
    We could tell you how many rows are in which table - but I'm not sure if that corresponds to your documents.
    It might be best to check with the application, how and where they store these docments.

  • How does one find out the database name , service name in a database

    hi,
    how do u find out the database name , service name , SID in a database.
    Please reply.
    Thanks ,
    Regards,
    RC

    This particular information is available in the view V_$PARAMETER owned by SYS. But you can also login with Server Manager as user INTERNAL and run:
    SHOW PARAMETERS
    The entries pertaining to the naming of the database are:
    1. db_name
    2. db_domain
    3. db_name
    4. instance_name
    5. service_names
    GLOBAL_NAME is a static (not changing) Data Dictionary view which has just 1 attribute (column) called GLOBAL_NAME.
    When you run:
    select GLOBAL_NAME from GLOBAL_NAME;
    You are returned the full global name of the database, i.e. the db_name and the db_domain joined together by dot (.) For e.g. if your db_name = mgmt and db_domain = tech.co.in, then your global_name will be MGMT.TECH.CO.IN.
    Ciao.

    Hi,
    One approach is:
    check lt_mytable is initial.
    This will be true if there are no lines.
    Another:
    describe table lt_mytable lines lv_count
    if lv_count = 0.
    "Empty

  • HOW DO I KNOW IF THE DATABASE SERVER IS RUNNING?

    Hi guys,
    How do i write a java code to determine if my database server(s) (eg : Oracle or mySQL or postGRESQL, msSQL etc) are (is) running.
    I want to know how to code in java to determine if a certain database server is running when i start the java application .
    Thanks for your help

    Acquire a connection. If it doesn't throw a SQLException, then you can be certain that the database is up and running.

  • [Deployment] How NOT to hard code the Database SID, Username, and Password

    Hi, I'm new in J2EE so be easy on me. :)
    How can I parameterize the database SID, username, and password in my J2EE application? So that anyone can change the SID, username, and password without the need to modify my code? I use Oracle 10g, ADF BC, JSF and JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.
    My friend said that I can use XML for this. But he didn't go to detail for doing this. Is it true? Is there any [or better alternative]?
    Any help or pointer to a simple tutorial would be fine.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi -- this is quite easy to do with J2EE.
    In your application code, you declare "logical" references to resources (such as datasources, security roles, etc.) and use those in your application code so all it depends on is the logical name
    On the server where the application is deployed, "physical" resources are created that point to the actual resource -- in the case of a database, this would be the JDBC URL, username, password.
    At deployment time of the application, you then use the facilities of deployment tool to "map" the logical references in the application, to the physical references that exist on the server. So you connect the dots between your application needing something and the server providing the something. That way all the "details" are abstracted out of the your application code.
    I don't know how this works in ADF, BC4J, etc. but I presume that since they are based on standard/J2EE, it must be available somehow.
    I wrote something about this a while back using direct JDBC as an example:

  • Does recompiling procedure improve the database performance???????

    One of my friends working on mssql told me that recreating of procedures could improve the database performance. If you have created the procedure and recreated it after insertion of huge volume of data.
    Is it true. If so how?

    I think so too but he said that in his microsoft certified course told that it could improve the performance.
    He told me that the select statements prevously used uses the old statistic but after recreating it uses the new statistic.

  • How to work offline without the database connection

    The first thing that make me do not like this tool is it is not possible to work offline or at least that I find out easily.
    Why should I need the database connection to write PL/SQL, SQL or whatever.

    Thanks Duncan,
    I want exactly what I said. To have the ability to modify the PL/SQLor SQL code, of course stored in the local file system or some kind of version control system.
    This happens because I was at home and could not create stupid file to just put main methods and SQL's I want while not having the connection.
    I do not want to use 3 different tools to do simple things. I am expecting from this tool to do all things for me that are meaningful as I am in Oracle more then 10 years and know exactly how robust Oracle tools are usually covering more then simple things.
    Offline work is more then simple requirement.
    Source control is more then simple requirement as sql developer is extracted from JDeveloper.
    It is so obvious that it is not possible to modify PL/SQL code inside the database without having the connection :)
    What are you doing when the database is not available or you need to work from home and no VPN or so, in the plane (never did that but there are people that will do), ...?
    Both TOAD and if you want SQL*Plus can do it without connection of course.
    sqlplus /nolog will do it :)
    Oracle SQL*Developer is the same but you need first to create manually some SQL or other file somewhere and then open it.
    While we are here SQL*Developer is not source control aware and that is not good.

If it doesnt not hav the row, i would then insert a new row into it, or else, i would only update the attribute. I have encountered a null pointer error and i've been trying to resolve it but i cant solve it. Here's my code..
    "i" is the attribute i wan to check if it exist in the database.
    "id" is the attribute i wan to check, from my JSP

    String sql11 = "SELECT i from database WHERE i ='" + i+ "'";
    System.out.println(sql11);
    try {
    db = new Database();
    rs = db.readRequest(sql11);
    if (rs != null && rs.next()) {
    U u= new U();
    u.setU(rs.getString("i"));
    m = u.getU(); ==> this is the line tat's givin my null pointer
    System.out.println(m);
    db.close();
    } catch (SQLException se) {
    se.printStackTrace();
    throw (new UserException("Unable to retrieve from Database!"));
    } catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();

    if (m.equals(id)){
    //performs the updating of database
    else if (m_userID.equals("nil")){
    // performs the inserting of new row in the database

    And what does getU() do?
