How to remove null values from list?

I had created a list in forms 6i and I am getting list values at run time using add_list_item function. The problem is I am getting null value at end of the list. In the property pallet I kept required yes and set the initial value but it is not removing null value. Can any one help me. Thank you.......

1. Have you set a default value?
2. Is this default value still in your list?
3. What happens if you default the list's value to a value you know exists after you have populated it?

It can be removed by adding the following code in the When-new-Form-Instance.
Set_item_property('List name', required, property_true);
:block_name.list_name := <put your default value here>; (If you didn't oput the default value, then you will get some problem and the cursor may not navigate away from the list).

Hi Naeem,
You can try using Workflows for automatically replacing NULLs with any specific value.
What you can do is: Create a workflow and set trigger action as Record Import, Record Create and Record Update. So, that whenever any change will occur in the repository; that workflow will trigger.
Now create an assignment expression for replacing NULLs with any specific value and use that assignment expression in your workflow by using Assign Step in workflow.
For exiting records, you will have to replace NULLs manually using the process given by Preethi else you can export those records in an Excel spreadsheet which have NULLs and then replace all NULLs with any string value and then reimport those records in your MDM repository.

How to post null values from h:inputText?

Hello,
I have a form made of h:inputText fields that map to an entity class as the backing bean. Whenever I post the form from a web page, all the fields that I did not fill out and that are mapped to String fields in the entity class are set to "" (empty string) instead of null.
However, I would like to post null values to my entity, because that would indicate that the user did not fill out the field. In other contexts (outside of the web app) it is possible to set the fields to empty strings, but from the web app it should always be null. How can I get JSF to do this correctly?
Also, when reading entitys with null values from the database, these are converted to empty h:inputText fields, so this direction works as expected.

Hi,
Most likely, nobody needed it, but if anybody in future will need the solution for related problem - here's solution:
data: lv_nullchar type xstring value '0'.
shift lv_xstring right deleting trailing lv_nullchar in byte mode.
shift lv_xstring left deleting leading lv_nullchar in byte mode.
This hack deleting null chars in lv_xstring at end file and at begining of file. Works perfect for me, where i also worked with files.

How to remove default value from table definition?

Following problem :
I need to remove default value from table.
Example
CREATE TABLE MY_TABLE(
NAME VARCHAR2(50) DEFAULT 'NAME',
AGE NUMBER DEFAULT 0
Now even when I use MODIFY like
ALTER TABLE MY_TABLE MODIFY (NAME VARCHAR2(10) );
The default is still there:
SELECT DATA_DEFAULT FROM USER_TAB_COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'MY_TABLE';

If a column has a default value, then you can use the DEFAULT clause to change the default to NULL, but you cannot remove the default value completely. That is, if a column has ever had a default value assigned to it, then the DATA_DEFAULT column of the USER_TAB_COLUMNS data dictionary view will always display either a default value or NULL

How to access a value from "List of Values" by giving a name?

I have a "List Of Values" defined in my BI Report. It comprises list of label-value pairs.
I have defined a parameter :p_Value for the above "List Of Values" defnition. this parameter is used in datasource sql defnition to filter the query results. I configured a template which has a table that shows all the parameters used for filtering query results. If I give <?$p_Value?> in the template then the parameter value is rendered on it. But I want the "name" of the parameter and not the value. Can anybody tell me how to access name of the parameter which refers to one of value in "List of Value" defnition?

Can you get the value from the DB in the report sql ?
You have the code, inside the report query, if you can get the decoded value form that
option2:
create another paramater, LOV and query, and make it as hidden, and use the first :param_1_value in the lov query in the second param and decode the value.
Now , you can refer the :PARAM_2_value in template which will have decoded value.

What do you mean by REMOVE?
All values for that column are null or not? if not, then can those value removable?
NULL means no value, how can you remove non-existing value?
Update the null column to default value is one way.
the other is to drop the column and add it again together with your not -null constraint.
But I definitely wouldn`t recommend this approach in your case since some of your records have values for that column.

use the following attribute in the <xsql:query> element (see the xsql help!):

</xsql:query>
Indicates whether to signal that a column's value is NULL by including the NULL="Y" attribute on the element for the column. By default, columns with NULL values are omitted from the output. Valid values are 'yes' and 'no'.(Default value is 'no')

Removing null values from a chart

I have a chart embedded in a Crystal report. (v.11.5). The data set essentially is a value per date, but because of the way the stored procedure is written, I have null values returned. Is there anyway to have the chart ignore null values?

Even if the SP returns null values, in your record selection criteria couldnt you just say NOT ISNULL() and thus eliminate null values?
