     base()
          JFrame frame = new JFrame("Base class Message Dialog Box");
          JPanel panel = new JPanel();
          JButton buttonchildone = new JButton("Child class one");
          buttonchildone.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
               public actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                    childone ch1=new childone();
               return ch1;
          JButton buttonchildtwo = new JButton("Child class two");
          buttonchildtwo.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
               public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
                    childtwo ch2=new childtwo();
                    return ch2;
          panel.add(buttonchildone);

here my aim is to achieve dynamic polymorphism by button click's ,where based on the button click i can send back an object of childone or childtwo classes

You probably need to rethink your design. Where are these child classes going? What is using or consuming them? I agree with the message above about a button instantiating a parent field variable to one child or the other depending on which button is pressed.

  • Newbie question on how to return java objects from java stored procedures

    Hi,
    As you may guess, i'm new to this.
    I have a stored procedure that does some calculations and creates a list of java objects as the result of the query.
    How would I return the list from the database to the client application?
    Would I have to create an Oracle type that maps to the java object?
    Please help.
    Jag

    Hi Jag,
    Your question is very vague (to me). Perhaps you could post what you have done so far? Have you tried looking through the Sample Code page of the Technet Web site, or tried searching the Ask tom Web site, or MetaLink?
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • How to store java objects in the database

    Hi,
    I am trying to store HttpSession state across Application Servers. Basically I am trying to build a sort of application cluster server on my own. I thought the best way to do this was to periodically store the HttpSession object from an application server in a database.
    I created a table in Oracle 8i with a blob column. I use a PreparedStatement.setObject() method to store the HttpSession object in the database. My problem is, I don't know how to get the object back from the database.
    Since ResultSet.getBlob returns the Blob locator, I need to read the BinaryInputStream to get all my data back. This tells me that getBlob basically works only for things like files, and cannot be used for Java objects.
    Is there any way around this? Your input would be much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Somaiah.

    Thanks for the quick reply vramakanth.
    Do I have to use a type map if I do this? Also does such a type map exist for the HttpSession class?
    Thanks,
    Somaiah.

  • Return NamingEnumeration object from the webservice method.

    I am developing a webservice for creating a connection with LDAP and get user first name from LDAP. For this I developed the following webservice in netbeans 6.0 by using Glass Fish V2 server.
    package san.exam;
    import javax.jws.WebMethod;
    import javax.jws.WebParam;
    import javax.jws.WebService;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import javax.naming.directory.*;
    import java.util.*;
    @WebService()
    public class LDAP {
    @WebMethod
    public NamingEnumeration getUser(@WebParam(name = "firstName") String firstName) throws Exception {
    // TODO implement operation
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
         env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactory");
         env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ldap://chdsez89674d:389/");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION,"simple");
         env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL,"cn=root"); // specify the username
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS,"vicky123");
         // Create the initial context
         DirContext ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);
         Attributes matchAttrs = new BasicAttributes(true); // ignore attribute name case
         matchAttrs.put(new BasicAttribute("uid", firstName));
    NamingEnumeration answer = ctx.search("ou=white pages,dc=ibm",matchAttrs);
         ctx.close();
    return answer;
    We are not able deploy this webservice. I dont know what the problem is. But we are able to make web service where we returned int or string or float and able to use this webservice by making webservice client.
    I think in this case we are trying to return NamingEnumeration object so the problem has come. Has anyone solve this problem or tell me how to return the NamingEnumeration object in the webservice?
    Any pointer regarding this problem is helpful for me.

    If you want to transfer an object through RMI it should be Serializable. Add 'implements Serializable' to your class. That's it
    import java.io.Serializable;
    class TransferObject implements Serializable {
    }

  • How to create authorisation object for save button please help in abap

    how to create authorisation object for save button please help in abap

    Hi
    In general different users will be given different authorizations based on their role in the orgn.
    We create ROLES and assign the Authorization and TCODES for that role, so only that user can have access to those T Codes.
    USe SUIM and SU21 T codes for this.
    Much of the data in an R/3 system has to be protected so that unauthorized users cannot access it. Therefore the appropriate authorization is required before a user can carry out certain actions in the system. When you log on to the R/3 system, the system checks in the user master record to see which transactions you are authorized to use. An authorization check is implemented for every sensitive transaction.
    If you wish to protect a transaction that you have programmed yourself, then you must implement an authorization check.
    This means you have to allocate an authorization object in the definition of the transaction.
    For example:
    program an AUTHORITY-CHECK.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT <authorization object>
    ID <authority field 1> FIELD <field value 1>.
    ID <authority field 2> FIELD <field value 2>.
    ID <authority-field n> FIELD <field value n>.
    The OBJECT parameter specifies the authorization object.
    The ID parameter specifies an authorization field (in the authorization object).
    The FIELD parameter specifies a value for the authorization field.
    The authorization object and its fields have to be suitable for the transaction. In most cases you will be able to use the existing authorization objects to protect your data. But new developments may require that you define new authorization objects and fields.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/52/67167f439b11d1896f0000e8322d00/content.htm
    To ensure that a user has the appropriate authorizations when he or she performs an action, users are subject to authorization checks.
    Authorization : An authorization enables you to perform a particular activity in the SAP System, based on a set of authorization object field values.
    You program the authorization check using the ABAP statement AUTHORITY-CHECK.
    AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'S_TRVL_BKS'
    ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '02'
    ID 'CUSTTYPE' FIELD 'B'.
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    MESSAGE E...
    ENDIF.
    'S_TRVL_BKS' is a auth. object
    ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '02' in place 2 you can put 1,2, 3 for change create or display.
    The AUTHORITY-CHECK checks whether a user has the appropriate authorization to execute a particular activity.
    This Authorization concept is somewhat linked with BASIS people.
    As a developer you may not have access to access to SU21 Transaction where you have to define, authorizations, Objects and for nthat object you assign fields and values. Another Tcode is PFCG where you can assign these authrization objects and TCodes for a  profile and that profile in turn attached to a particular user.
    Take the help of the basis Guy and create and use.

    You could also look at something like Apache Digester, which will parse your XML and populate Java objects with the data. A slightly steeper learning curve than the lower-level APIs such as JDOM, but that's outweighed by the lesser development effortdon't think that would work for the original problem, which seemed to indicate that the xml had an unknown structure.

  • How to create an object within the same class???

    hi im just a newbie
    i v been always creating an object from the main class..
    but how to create an object inside the same class??
    i got main and students class
    the main got an array
    Students[] stu = new Students[]
    and i got
    stu[i] = new Students(id,name);
    i++;
    but i wanna do these things inside the Students class..
    i tried ..but i got errors.....
    how to do this
    .

    javaexpert, :)
    I really have no idea what you are trying to do since you say you've always been creating an object from the main class, yet you always want to create an object inside the same class.
    I'll assume that you have an object in the main class that you are trying to access from the Students class.
    If you are trying to access objects that are contained within the main class FROM the Students class, then know that there are two ways of doing so, one being static, and the other dynamic (look up definitions if unclear):
    1.) make the objects in the main class both static and public and access the the objects using a convention similiar to: Main.object; It's important to note that Main is the name of your main class, and object is a static object. There are better ways of doing this by using gettter/setter methods, but I'll omit that tutorial.
    2.) Create a new instance of the main class and access the objects using a similiar fashion: Main myInstance = new Main(); myInstance.myObject;
    You should really use getter and setter methods but I'll omit the code. In terms of which approach is better, step one is by far.
    I don't mean to be condecending, but you should really brush up on your programming skills before posting to this forum. This is a fundamenetal concept that you will encounter time and time again.

  • How to pass the java object into the spring controller

    Hi Friends
    When I hit the url at the first time my call goes to the spring controller and sets the userDetails objects in the modelAndView.addObject("userDetails", userDetails.getUserDetails()) and returns the userDetails.html page. if I click any link in the same page i want to pass same (userDetails) object thru javascript or jquery and calls the another(controller) method and returns the same (userDetails.html) page.
    It means how can i pass the java object thru javascript or jquery and calls the controller. if i get the same object in my controller i can avoid calling the db again. please help me out to resolve this issue. i am tired of fixing this issue.
    Regards
    Sherin Pooja

    If you want to avoid calling the database again then cache the data.
    However before you do that make sure that calling the database, in the context of YOUR system, is going to be an actual problem.
    For example there is absolutely no point in caching a  User object when only one user an hour is actually using the system.

  • How to return a object from a method in a java program to a C++ call (JNI )

    Sir,
    I am new to java and i have been assigned a task to be done using JNI.
    My question is,
    How can i return an object from a method in a java program to a call for the same method in a C++program using JNI.
    Any help or suggesstions in this regard would be very useful.
    Thanking you,
    Anjan Kumar

    Hello
    I would like to suggest that JNI should be your last choice and not your first choice. JNI is hard to get right. Since the JNI code is executing in the same address space as the JVM, any problems (on either side) will take down the entire process. It dilutes the Write Once Run Anywhere (WORA) value proposition because you need to provide the JNI component for all hardware/OS platforms. If you can keep your legacy code(or whatever you feel you need to do in JNI) in a separate address space and communicate via some inter-process channel, you end up with a system that is more flexible, portable, and scalable.
    Having said all that, head over to the Java Native Interface: Programmer's Guide and Specification web page:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jni/
    Scroll down to the Download the example code in this book in ZIP or tar.gz formats. links and download the example source. Study and run the example sources. The jniexamples/chap5/MyNewString demo creates a java.lang.String object in native code and returns it to the Java Language program.
