How to set  a Visual "Mac" to JFrame

Hi all,
How can I set a LookAndFeel of Mac to a JFrame? (Using the JDK 5 and Windows).
since already thanks.

How was my response rude, besides pointing out the technical impossibility of using native Mac LAF on Windows box and vice versa? And how was it unhelpful if it pointed out the exact reason why it's not possible?

Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Users & Groups.
Also you may want to consider FileVault as it provides a lot more protection for the data on your MacBook Air than just having a password. There is more information at OS X: About FileVault 2 - Apple Support

  • How to set a location of a JFrame using mouseListener?

    Hi,
I was wondering how i could set the location of a JFrame using the mouseListener? I know when i want to show a JPopMenu i can do:
    pop.setLocation(e.getX(), e.getY());
    pop.setInvoker(null);
By using .setInvoker(); I can show the jpopup on the position that i clicked my mouse but this method is not available to the JFrame.
Should i do this with the Dimension screenSize = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize(); instead? I was wondering if there is an easier way to do this. If not i can code a workaround but thats not my first choice.
    Thanks

Why do you need setInvoker() for a JFrame? What's wrong with just setLocation()?The problem is that i want to show my frame where i clicked my mouse but when i get the x,y from the mouselistener getX/Ymethods the frame doesn't show up on the location where i clicked with the mouse, instead it shows the frame in the location x,y NOT relative to the mouse.I see. Well if you're using Java 6, you can use the getXOnScreen() and the getYOnScreen() methods from MouseEvent.
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/awt/event/MouseEvent.html#getXOnScreen()
Otherwise you'll need to add the x and y coordinates of whatever component you're clicking on.I'm using Java 6, I tried your suggestion but i get the same value with getX/Y and getX/YOnScreen()

  • How to set up my mac mini server to use two drives seamlessly?

I have a mid 2010 mac mini server, with OSX Lion installed. It has dual 500gb hard drives.
I've been moving all my important files to it, and I've always assumed that once I filled one disc, it would seamlessly transfer over to the other and continue backing up. This does not seem to be the case.
I'm at roughly 495gb of data, and when I try to move a 10gb file onto my server, it tells me that I don't have enough disc space to continue the operation.
What can I do to make use of both drives?
    -Thanks

It sounds like what you're asking for is to have the two drives in a RAID 0, where the two 500 Gb drives look like a single 1 Tb drive. I'm not sure the exact procedure for installing RAID 0 on a mini's internal drives, but the process would involve backing up, reconfiguring for RAID (which destroys all data,) restoring data from the backup, and more risk than I would personally find acceptable. I'd expect to lose a full day with the backup and restore steps. I can guarantee, there will be pain.
Instead, I'd suggest looking at what's consuming the 500Gb, and seeing if there are particular folders that can be moved. For example, a shared folder is pretty easy. Copy it over. In file sharing setup, edit the share to point to the new location. Make sure remote users disconnect, and reconnect to the "new" share. When you're happy there is no data loss, delete the old location.
User's home directories can also move, but the process has a few more steps, and depends on how the accounts are built (local vs. OD)
If the majority of the data is in a single "your backup files" folder, shared or otherwise, then I would just set up a second folder on the second drive and write to it, leaving the first alone. If it is truly a backup, then you could make the first folder read-only at this point for extra protection. If you go the 2 folder route, keep in mind your boot drive is operating with 1% free space, I like my drives to have at least 15% free, and OS drives more like 25% (you'll find some range in recommended %-free, but most will agree 1% is too little) so move SOME stuff to the new folder, before closing the old.

Is there a site out here where I can get detailed instructions (in proper sequence) to get my wife's brand new laptop to print on shared network We have an XP laptop and desktop. Any help and detailed guidance is appreciated.

    1. Set it up with the iCloud options in System Preferences. I am not sure you will get a mac.com address unless you alrady have one, probably a .icloud.com
    2. I have used it for 6 years and I am happy with it.

  • How to set DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH on Mac OS X Mountain Lion?

    Hi all,
I've been struggling to find a proper way to set up DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH variable on Mountain Lion.
I have to use Perl Modules for work purposes but eveytime I try to install some CPAN Module (DBD::Oracle to be exact),perl complains that it can't find the DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH and can't continiue with the installation.
    Exact error is:
    Trying to find an ORACLE_HOME
Your DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH env var is set to ''
The ORACLE_HOME environment variable is not set and I couldn't guess it.
It must be set to hold the path to an Oracle installation directory
on this machine (or a machine with a compatible architecture).
See the appropriate README file for your OS for more information.
          ABORTED!
I have downloaded the Oracle Instant Client files for Basic,SQLPLUS and SDK but I don't know how to use these?
    When I try the commands:
    export PATH="$HOME/.rbenv/bin:$PATH"
and use my directory path of where the instanclient binaries are located for the part "$HOME/.rbenv/bin"  and use "DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH" for '$PATH' but it doesn't helped me at all.
Still the same errors. What should I download in order to set ORACLE_HOME (DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH) and which files I should point the environemt variable to?
    Anyone please help me?
    Thank a lot

I simply type in "perl [scriptname.pl]".How is this relevant?I'm not able to install modules.
I've tried both the direct download/make/install way and doing it from the package as described in CPAN manuals.
For the direct download way,I simply type in "cpanm DBD::Oracle" for example. It downloads the package, makes and tries to install but fails during the install process.
Second method is downloading the module package from cpansearch.pearl.org and then pointing the terminal to package path, executing "perl Makefile.PL" and then "make install".
Both methods fails with the same DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH error.

We have come to the point where we need a central back up point for all the computers in our household. I was thinking about setting up one computer as a server, which would have maybe an external hard drive set up. Am I on the right path, or would there be other options?

Depending upon your storage needs, desired backup capacity, desired speed, and budget, another option is Network Area Storage (NAS), a dedicated server attached via an Ethernet cable directly to your wireless network router.
    I recently purchased an iomega/Lenovo 2TB unit to back up a MacBook with 500GB, a MacBook Pro with 500GB, and a 64GB iPad2: http://go.iomega.com/en-us/products/network-storage-desktop/ez-media/?partner=47 60
The server allows the use of Time Machine for the MacBooks, and has an iOS app for iPads and iPhones. While 'cloud access' to my backup files is one of the available configurations, I have not implemented it.
Initial Time Machine full-backup time was going to be somewhat long (over 24 hours) for my MacBook using my wireless setup, so I connected my MacBook directly with an Ethernet cable, and cut the required time down to under 8 hours. (The other two devices aren't nearly as full.)
I've had it installed just about 30 days, so I can't comment on long-term ownership, but it is working well for my modest backup needs.

  • How to set Permissions for Mac HD from "No Access" to "Read only"

Hi everyone! My friend's having a problem with her MacBook Pro. She accidentally changed the value of the Macintosh HD's privilege for everyone from Read only to No access. (See attached image for reference/guide). Seconds after, her Mac crashed. She rebooted her laptop, the Apple logo shows up with the usual scrolling week. Afterwards, the scrolling wheel disappears but the Apple logo is still there and it no longer proceeds to her login/desktop screen anymore.
We already tried Repairing Disk Permissions (by pressing Command +R on bootup) and Repair Disks, rebooted, but it's still up to nothing. Unfortunately, she doesn't have a Time Machine backup.
Is there a way to revert the changes even though the login/desktop screen can't be accessed? Is having the value "No access" on your Macintosh HD unsafe and will make you locked out of your system?
I am looking forward to your fast and favorable feedback. :-)
    Thanks in advance!

There is currently no way to access the disk, no access means no access.
Others may know better but I would backup the data on the drive, erase and reinstall.

  • How to set buffer size mac?

Video streaming is intermittent, BBC iPlayer.
Cannot get info about router but have latest Apple Extreme modem in MacBook Air.

A DAQboard is an IOtech device. I use a DAQbook in one of my programs.
You set the buffer size by calling Acquisition Scan Configuration.vi, assuming you've downloaded the IOtech enhanced LabVIEW drivers. The buffer size input to this VI is in number of scans. There's no real rule to the size you should use. Just set it to a size that's big enough to hold as many scans as you will need buffered before you read them. For example, If the board is set up to sample at 100 Hz and you read the buffer once a second, make sure the buffer is at least 100 scans.
As far as your other question, like Dennis said, you don't have to do anything to reserve the memory. The operating system will take care of it for you.

  • Being new to working with Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to set my Mac Book Pro wirelessly to the Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll? My husband had gotten this printer and the sales person said that it can be set up wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro

Being new to working with a Mac, I was wondering if anyone can tell me step, by step on how to set up my Mac Book Pro(Mid 2012) wirelessly to a Canon Pixma Pro9000 Mark ll that my husband had gotten me? Sales person told him that it's compatiable to my Mac Book Pro, Mtn Lion, but I do not see it and I don't see how to do it wirelessly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks ;o)

    Hello:
There is nothing wrong with asking questions.  There  are no dumb questions....answers, yes, but not questions.
If you set up your wi-fi router to establish a network, then both your printer and MacBook Pro will connect wirelessly.  *** I do not know what kind of router you possess, I don't want to suggest things that might not be relevant.

P.S. No need to apologize!  Most of the people here (none of us are Apple employees) enjoy trying to help others.
