How to set up a virtual directory on Application Server

The environment of my application is Application server 9i version 2, on windows 2000, form 9.0.2.
I am trying to get the ORACLE 9i forms show_document to work.
I have successfully created an out file in the server directory.
I need the document to be displayed by the form.
Let me tell you more about my server.
I installed Oracle application server on drive E.
I copied my application to drive E and named PY which has 4 folders including :
E:\PY\fmb (for fmb)
E:\PY\forms (for fmx)
E:\PY\sql (for sql programs)
E:\PY\locrep (for lst files which are generated from sql programs)
Someone told me I should create a virtual directory, e.g. docs, in your httpd.conf file to point to e:\py\locrep
I've seen 4 httpd.conf files so I don't know which one I should modify and what should I type in exactly on what part ????
E:\ora9ias\apache\apache\conf\httpd.conf
E:\ora9ias\apache\apache\conf\httpd.conf.default
E:\ora9ias\apache\apache\conf\httpd.conf.smibak
E:\ora9ias\dcm\config\plugins\apache\httpd.conf
After I modify the httpd.conf file, so what will my URL be ? Also, I have a lot of reports, I would like to run different reports at the same time ??????
Thank you very much.
Trang

The best way to edit httpd.conf is using Enterprise Manager Website. Open this site (http://machine:1810) and drill down on your application server, and then on HTTP Server. Open link Advanced server Properties. Now you see a list of all configuration files. Click on a file to open it.
To add the virtual path:
- You could best add your virtual path in file forms90.conf (it is included in httpd.conf with the <include> tag).
- Within this file you already find some virtual path definitions: Look for the AliasMatch tag, e.g. for the 'forms90/html' virtual directory.
- Copy this line and change 'html' into the directory name you like to use, e.g. 'myfiles'. Map it to the physical directory (on your E: drive) where your files are. (E: must not be a network drive, however).
- browse to your files using: http://machine:7777/forms90/myfiles/filename.

    Hi Eric and Jennifer
    A couple of answers to your questions:
    1. LC Forms is just an API - you have to build your own web application (or some other type of application) if you want your users to be able to interact with PDF forms.
    2. You can use Eclipse to build web applications. It's just one of many tools for doing so, but it's a fantastic development environment, and it's free.
    3. Lomboz no longer exists. It has been integrated directly into Eclipse as one of the sub-projects, "WebTools". The easiest way to install web tools is via the Callisto "packaging". This makes sure that you get all the right versions of everything you need. See:
    http://www.eclipse.org/callisto/
    4. The tutorial mentioned still provides some useful information, although names have been changed.
    5. There are lots of books about developing Web Apps in Java, using servlets or JSP.
    6. FormsIVS is just a small sample application that allows you to test rendering or prepopulating a form. It's not intended as an end-user product.
    7. If you're interesting in some assistance, we do provide training, mentoring, and turnky application development. Send an email to info "at" avoka.com if you want more info.
    Good luck...

  • Set the default pathname for the application server

    Dear Guru,
    I have encountered an issue in CG3Z and CG3Y
    I am not able to set the default pathname for the application server
    can any one give some guideline how to set the default pathname for the application server.
    Thanks and regards
    Saifur Rahaman

    Hi Saifur,
    There is no such option in CG3Z or CG3Y. If you still want to do it you will have to customize it by copying the program RC1TCG3Z & RC1TCG3Y  to Z & the Function Modules C13Z_FRONT_END_TO_APPL & C13Z_APPL_TO_FRONT_END to Z & also the program LC13ZF01 to Z which runs both of these transactions.
    And finally the data declaration in the program LC13ZF01  as :-
    DATA:      L_FILE_NAME_FTAPPL          LIKE RCGFILETR-FTAPPL value 'you default pathname'
               DATA:      L_FILE_NAME_FTFRONT         LIKE RCGFILETR-FTFRONT value 'you default pathname'.

    Try this FM,
      CALL FUNCTION 'SUBST_GET_FILE_LIST'
        EXPORTING
          dirname      = ws_filepath
          filenm       = ws_fname
        TABLES
          file_list    = i_rsfillst
        EXCEPTIONS
          access_error = 1
          OTHERS       = 2.
    Pass the path and
    say ur file name starts with ALPXXXXX
    then pass
    ws_fname =  'ALP*' .
    In the table i_rsfillst you will get all the file in directory.
    Try this through a sample prorgam ,dont try through SE37, it will show ACCESS_ERROR.

  • How do I set up a virtual directory in OC4J?

    I'd like to set up a virtual directory in OC4J so that if a user sends a request for /images/asdf.gif, then OC4J will see the "/images" part of the URL and know to look in /usr/oc4j/whatever/images for the file. How do I do this?
    Thanks.

    Lemonte,
    You need to add it to an orion-web.xml file. This is Orion/OC4J's web app deployment descriptor.
    If you want to setup virtual directories for the default web app, you'd use /application-deployments/default/defaultWebApp/orion-web.xml. Otherwise use the orion-web.xml for your deployed web app.

  • How to set the stack size for alchemy application?

    Anybody know how to set the stack size for alchemy application?
    If you know, please tell me how to adjust the stack size for alchemy application?

    Hi,
    The stack size is set as public const gstackSize in the alchemy generated code.  You can see this if you build with ACHACKS_TMPS set.  The default is one megabyte.
    One way to change the stack size is to use llvm-dis to disassemble avm2-libc/lib/avm2-libc.l.bc, generating avm2-libc.l.ll, modify the constant, and then use llvm-as to recompile your modified library and overwrite the old one.  These utilities should be in your path if alchemy is set up.

  • How to set CLASSPATH in an ejb ear application

    Hi Gurus,
    I want to generate an EAR EJB Application and put 3 jars in the classpath of all ejb modules of this ear. Is it possible? How coul I do this without changing the application server's classpath.
    Cheers,
    George

    If you do put the ClassPath in the ejb's manifest file, what is the relative directory path for the ejb.
    For example if I want to include a jar file called mylib.jar. What would the classpath in the manifest file be.
    And were would I put the jar file, same path as the ejb itself?

  • How to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0)

    Hi all,
    I'd like to know if it's possible and how to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0), Windows version.
    With the following code, I can see that the mail.jar used by the server is the one included in the jdk installation :
    // I'm testing InternetAddress.class because I want to use commons-email-1.2.jar that requires mail.jar 1.4 (or higher) and activation.jar 1.1 (or higher)
    // and I know that inside the commons-email-1.2.jar file, I need to call the InternetAddress.validate() method that throws a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.validate()V if it is used with mail.jar 1.2.
    Class cls = javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.class;
    java.security.ProtectionDomain pDomain = cls.getProtectionDomain();
    java.security.CodeSource cSource = pDomain.getCodeSource();
    java.net.URL location = cSource.getLocation();
    System.out.println(location.toString());
    This code returns : file:/C:/oracle/app/jdk/jre/lib/ext/mail.jar and this mail.jar file has an implementation version number: 1.2
    - I've tried to include my own mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the war file that I deploy, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I've tried to put the mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the applib directory of my OC4J instance, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I know that a patch exists : I've read the following document: How to Make Libraries such as mail.jar and activation.jar Swappable ? [ID 552432.1]
    This article talks about the Patch 6514136, but this patch only applies to : Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.3.3.0
    Can you please help me ?
    Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Laurent

    I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
    Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

  • Download data to specified  directory in application server

    HI experts,
              i need to download data from internal table to specified application server directory which is already  created. how i can check the directory is already availble in server and i need to specify the name of the file dynamically. after download how i can check the downloaded file in application server.
    Edited by: Alvaro Tejada Galindo on Apr 14, 2008 5:27 PM

    Hi,
      If u wanna give file name dynamically, you can add it to the selection screen as parameter and let user enter the filename while executing.
    To get file path, check FILE transaction.
    To check the downloaded file in the server (guess u know the server name and path), Use AL11 transaction.

  • How System Command can replace a file in Application Server

    Hi Guys,
                  A new system Command is created. When that system command is executed, the client wants to take a file from one directory in application server and put that file into another directory on the application server itself. How this can be achieved?
                 What I know is we can create a function module and place that function module in the system command. But in that function module, I have to change the fielname and put that into another directory. I don't know how to do it.
    Note: I shouldn't read the data from the file using Open Dataset statements..
    Please let me the solution if any one has encountered such a scenario.
    Regards.
    Hari.

    I think you are mixing up things here.
    The program "sapiconv" is for converting files into different codepages, it´s not for copying/moving files to other directories.
    If you want to use the ZSAPICONV to you need to modify it, take out the "sapiconv" and put in the "mv" (move) command to move the file to the other directory.
    I suggest though creating a NEW command. e.g ZMV and give the appropriate parameters.
