How to set up Mail on my Mac to my business exchange server

My company has recently moved to Microsoft exchange. I run a mac running OSX. I have entourage but would prefer to use the native Mail client. Does anyone have suggestion as to how to set this up? Thx.

Hi,
I have just noticed that your original Posts lists OS 10.8
and not OS X 10.8.2
Your phraseology in the last post made me look again.
Does you iMessage Account pane look like this ?
At OS X 10.8.2 Update the Messages App is updated to version 7.0.1
This changes the pic above  (the Sign Out and Detail Buttons are no on the "Front" part)
The Send From Drop down has been added at the bottom.  (You may only get this with Two active "Receive" names/iPhone Numbers)
It used to look like this

  • Why do I get the message  "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to microsoft exchange server.

Why do I get the message "cannot get mail" when trying to connect to ms exchange server?

Hard to say. Has it ever worked? Maybe your account has mobile e-mail disabled. Maybe ActiveSync isn't set up properly on the server. maybe the correct ports are not open on the corporate firewall.
You will have to talk to your IT department.

  • Mountain Lion 10.8.3 Mail - how to set push mail

    Hi again folx.
    I have one simple question:
On Mountain Lion 10.8.3 is there any way i can set push mail service on Mail. That means, when i recieve an e-mail, it instantly notifies me. Like on most smartphones. I have tried well known trick of setting it to manual check and few other settings, but thats not working..
Do you have any idea how to do this ?
In settings i can only see "check for new email every minute".
    Thanks in advance.
    Marko Stojanovic (Laynee).

Your email account/provider must support Push.  Not all of them support it by default.  Mail will support Push via the setup wizard choice of Exchange.  So, as an example, if this is a GMail account, reset it up and pick Exchange instead of GMail for the wizard since that's a supported setup path for GMail accounts to enable Push capabilities on it.
Just keep in mind that the protocols used on the Mac to do the Push Exchange Activesync setup is a bit different than those used on iOS devices.  I can't say without a doubt that it is supported on Mail, but I know you can do that setup for GMail on the mail client on an iOS device and it'll enable Push.

  • How to set up roaming profile on Macs using AD like in windows

I can bind the workstations to the domain fine.. But can someone direct me to instructions of how to set up the roaming profiles ?
What steps do I need on the server ? This is what I've done so far.
I already have OU's for the departments and the users have a shared folder inside their department folder.... \\server\shared_folder\user
I have done the usual things with AD as far as the profile settings on the windows server.
Am currently running Mac OS 10.5 and above
My windows AD runs on windows server 2008
All my windows workstation are able to use roaming profile without a problem.
So far i have tried the so many avenues including..
Make sure the Mac systems are joined to the domain controller and an ADS user can log on successfully. Use "Directory Utility" under "Utilities" menu to join the system to the domain.
Backup all the contents from /Users to the storage or somewhere locally.
Configure automount - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Mounts" tab and add automount as mentioned below. Remote NFS URL: nfs://server_name/share_name/path/to/profile/directory Mount location: /Users Additional mount parameters: -P,-T Apply the settings and this will mount the remote shared folder or we can name it as Roaming Profile Space - under /Users directory
Enable roaming profile - Go to "Utilities" -> "Directory Utility" - Select the domain and click "Show advanced options" - Click "Services" -> Select "Active Directory" and click "Show advanced option" - Click "User experience" tab and select the option "Create mobile account at login".
Reboot the system and log in as any ADS user. The Roaming shared folder will be mounted and the user profile will be created on the shared folder
    Can anyone kindly assist me

  • How can I sync Mail database between MAC computers without using IMAP

All, I know this has been asked several times in several forums but I wish to ask it again with a slight twist. The normal question is can I sync  Apple mail database (folders) between two MAC computers. The answer is always use IMAP, but unfortunately IMAP is limited on space to store historical emails. I keep mailboxes (on_my_mac) with thousands of emails and attachments that take up a massive amount of space, well beyond any IMAP server allowances. I keep these in order to search conversations that span over many months and sometimes years.
I use GoodSync to sync my normal folders from my MAC Book Pro and my Mac Pro desktop so that I can have the same information (in real time) when working from home on my big machine or at the office using the laptop. This is great except I can not sync the email. I use Outlook 2011 but would prefer to use apple mail if I can sync the two computers (Sync'ing Outlook 2011 is even more impossible).
I also do not want to start and stop my email clients to make this happen and worry about which MAC is running mail and what direction to copy the entire folder structure just to have to follow that up with a new re-build of the index.
Has anyone came up with a viable solution this this problem. Also keep in mind the amount of data - Cloud based solutions are dependent on Internet connection speed (days of initial transfer time and hours to sync) and if I am on my laptop without internet connection, say on an airplane, I would be out of luck so I need the information local on each computer.
Hopefully someone has some ideas, or maybe Apple can take a request for enhancement to Mail to support syncing multiple computers.

I assume that this is a POP system then.
There is no reliable method of syncing the Mail database between 2 Macs. Just how many Gigabytes of Mail do you have?

  • Help with setting up Mail on 2 Macs?

I'm switching from Mailsmith to Apple Mail. I have exported all my Mailsmith mailboxes and successfully imported them into Mail on the desktop Mac, then recreated each in the On My Mac section and dragged all the pertinent messages from the imported boxes to the newly created ones.
This is my first experience with IMAP and Mail and while I like the fact of being able to access all my incoming mail on both Macs - the G4MDD and the MBP - they run different versions of Mail as the G4 has Leopard 10.5.8 installed while the MBP runs Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with its later version of the Mail app.
What I would like to do is have the same mailboxes on both Macs. Is there any way of exporting or moving the database of the On My Mac mailboxes from Mail on the G4MDD to Mail on the MBP?
I'm not sure how this is supposed to work, but I imagine one keeps the active online version's Inbox etc. fairly lean and archives messages to the appropriate mailboxes in the On My Mac section, but unless one does it on both Macs, one no longer would have access to the archived messages on the other machine. Or does one create all the mailboxes in the online/upper portion of Mail so they will all be online and thus always available to all Macs? But if something happens (server messups do happen, even to Apple) one would then risk losing all past history, since the reference Mail is the online version and not the local ones.
Colour me confused. Newbie to Mail so I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

    Worries
Ok, I've read another article where it says, similarly to the Help bit you quoted:
"In Mail, you can simply drag one or more mail-boxes from your mailbox list onto the icon representing your IMAP server. Mail copies the mailboxes (even nested ones) and their contents to the server, creating new mailboxes as needed."
I can't find any icon representing my IMAP server in the Mail window. Nor do I see any IMAP accounts in that window. I see Inboxes for my various accounts (as well as Sent and Trash) but nothing as described in the above quote. Dragging or Option dragging a Mailbox I had created from the On My Mac section to the upper one dosn't work. Sigh. What am I missing?

  • How to set up Mail without own Internet account

I stay at different homes, using their Internet connections to check my e-mail online. If I get e-mail via the Internet, using any available network, how can I set up Mail? Mail asks for my incoming and outgoing server, but I am using any available network. Can I use Mail at all without my own Internet account? What if I use the account of a family member or friend who has Internet at their residence?

Well, you need a permanent email address somewhere to which all your email goes. You cannot use web mail addresses such as the free email accounts at Yahoo or Google because they are not accessible from Mail.
If your parents have cable internet service from RoadRunner, for example, then they can authorize an email account for you. Your email address would be something like "[email protected]" You would set up the account as you would normally using the ingoing and outgoing mail servers provided.
Now when you are at some other location on the internet you can retrieve your email by simply letting Mail fetch it from your email address. If you need to send email then you will need to provide the outgoing mail server address used by the internet mail system you are now using. You can add this as a second server so it's easy to switch between them when you need to.
I suggest you look at Mail Help from Mail's Help menu where you can search for more information on configuring Mail.

    Thanks,

    Hi
You just add the Email icon to the palette and if a process runs sucess or error (depends on your transition). Just add the email icon and click on it. Fill in the necessery values, such as
    From
    To
    Subject
    Body
    SMTP server.
If you have a mailserver installed on your machine - just enter "localhost".
Else you will need to use an existing email server.
