How to setup Oracle OCI Driver with Kerberos Authentication in Eclipse

Hello I am trying to setup a connection to Oracle Server with kerberos authentication.
I am able to connect using SQL Developer but it seems impossible to do the same through the eclipse plugin any pointers?

Currently there is no support for Kerberos authentication on OEPE DB support. I'll open an enhancement request.

  • How to use oracle thin driver with jsp?...pls help

    Hello. I am trying to insert a word file into my Oracle 9i database using JSP. I have tomcat running as my standalone server. So far, i have been using the sun.jdbc.odbc driver to implement all my DB accesses. Recently however, i found out that in order to use Oracle specific objects such as BLOBS or BFILES, i have to use the oracle thin driver or OCI driver.
    So far, i have downloaded the thin driver and put it into the tomcat shared/common folder and also put the .jar file into my classpath. Now, i am having trouble as to how to call the oracle thin driver inside my JSP code.
    My previous code read as:
    Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
    Connection con = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:odbc:Andy","user","pass");
    How do i switch over to the oracle thin driver in JSP? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you
    Andrew

    my code is:
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection(sConnStr, sUser, sPassword);
    notice the driver --"oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"!
    and copy the class12.zip to lib path
    if still not work
    change the class12.zip to class12.jar
    good luck

  • ORA-01401 error on char column with oracle oci driver

    Hello,
    We found a potential bug in the kodo.jdbc.sql.OracleDictionary class
    shipped as source with Kodo:
    In newer Kodo versions (at least in 3.3.4), the method
    public void setString (PreparedStatement stmnt, int idx, String
    val,          Column col)
    has the following code block:
    // call setFixedCHAR for fixed width character columns to get padding
    // semantics
    if (col != null && col.getType () == Types.CHAR
    && val != null && val.length () != col.getSize ())
    ((OraclePreparedStatement) inner).setFixedCHAR (idx, val);
    This block seems to be intended for select statements but is called on
    inserts/updates also. The latter causes a known problem with the Oracle
    oci driver when settings CHAR columns as FixedCHAR, which reports an
    ORA-01401 error (inserted value too large for column) when definitely no
    column is too long. This does not happen with the thin driver.
    We reproduced this with 8.1.7 and 9.2.0 drivers.
    For us we solved the problem by subclassing OracleDictionary and removing
    the new code block.

    Rainer-
    I read at
    re:'ORA-01401 inserted value too large for column' - 9i that:
    "This is fixed in Oracle9i Release 2"
    Can you try that version of the driver? Also, does it fail in the Oracle
    10 OCI driver?

    Looks like you are using Oracle OCI driver and not WebLogic OCI driver so
    you really dont need the libweblogicoci36.so file in your
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH/PATH. Also your properties below show that you are using
    thin driver url and then also oci8 url, check you connection pool setting
    properly and may be try getting the latest oracle drivers.
    If you are trying to use weblogic jDrivers make sure your pool properties
    are set right.

  • Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?

    Can I create connection pool by oracle oci driver?My weblogic's version is 6.1 sp2 and oracle is 9.0.1.2.
    I have some trouble with connection pool created by weblogic jDriver.
    I try to read Timestamp from table and I always get the exception.It told me that ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes.
    So I created another pool by oracle thin driver and everything was right.Then I created other pool by oracle oci driver,but something were wrong. 'Could not create pool connection. The DBMS driver exception was:java.sql.SQLException: ORA-06401: NETCMN:Invalid driver designator'
    The oci pool's parameters are below lines.
    url: jdbc:oracle:oci:@COCO
    Driver Classname: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
    Properties: user=scott;password=tiger;protocol=oci
    If I get connection directly,don't use connection pool,I can get right connection.But why didn't I create pool by oci driver?Maybe weblogic7 or weblogic8 will work good?

    create a conn pool using Oracle Oci.. Just the driverclass and url is enough
    or need any classpath settings etc..
    Thanks in advance for your quick reply.Hi. As far as driver properties, just use what Oracle says to. Any pool properties
    that we recommend for XA would still apply. Note that Oracle themselves recommends
    the thin driver over their OCI one:

  • Oracle OCI driver stops working after a while of disuse

    I am using wl server 8.1, oracle oci driver (oracle 9i client), on solaris.
    When i create a connection pool using the oci driver, it connects, and i
    test it, and the tests run fine.
    The Application works for a few days. Then eventually after disuse, say over
    the weekend, I get exceptions in the log (the message is at end of email).
    This is because it gives me a sql exception saying it cannot resolve the
    service name. The database is up and running, confirmed.
    I tried testing the connection pool manually through the console, and it
    failed with the service name exception. But it would connect fine when i
    used sqlplus to connect to the databse, using the same service name.
    Why does this deteriorate over time? Is there a specific test that would
    prevent this from happening?
    Once i restart the weblogic server, the connection pool connects fine. But
    this is not a solution, since I can't be restarting the server all the time.
    Any one got any ideas?

    -AyanHi. Is there a firewall between the weblogic server and DBMS? There is
    a problem with OCI losing connectivity to the DBMS. OCI may be keeping
    a socket open as long as the process (weblogic) is running.

  • Problem in executing a SP in Java using Oracle OCI Driver...

    Hi,
    I have a installed the Oracle OCI driver on iPlanet Web Server 4.1. The application has been designed using the Jakarta Struts framework where the dom classes act as an interface between the database and the application(action classes). The dom classes execute stored procedures stored in an SP packages (eg. DDTS_PACK.setContact(..)). Now here's the problem. When a new record is being inserted, the dom executes the 'setContact' stored procedure using a java.sql.CallableStatement. The execution of this stored procedure is successful at times and fails at times. What could be the reason?? Could it be something to do with connection pooling. The default connection pooling class from oracle, oracle.jdbc.pool.OracleConnectionCacheImpl() is being used to get the connection. The funny thing is that the stored procedure gets executed both the time (success/failure) and returns a return status as 'N' when it fails and 'Y' when it is successful.
    I would be greatful to anybody who could give a solution to the above problem. Thanks and have a great day.
    Regards,
    Anand

    Since the pipe '|' is interpreted by the shell then you need the shell to invoke your command
            String[] command = {"sh","-c","find /tmp/reports1 -name " + "\"" + "*" + "\"" + " -mtime +" + strdaysback + " -print|xargs rm -r"};
            final Process process = Runtime.getRuntime().exec(command);
      You should also read http://www.javaworld.com/javaworld/jw-12-2000/jw-1229-traps.html at least twice and implement the recommendation regarding stdout and stderr.
    P.S. Why are you not using Java to find and delete these files?

    My question is :
    *1.How to update oracle jdbc drivers with those downloads ?*
    (ps. I have replaced ojdbc5_g.jar, ojdbc5.jar, ojdbc6_g.jar, ojdbc6_g.jar in $ORACLE/jdbc, but it did'nt work. )
    *2.My Oracle version is 11.1.0.6.0, will it be OK if only update the JDBC driver?*
    *3.Do I need to update the jdbc driver where my program runs on the client side ?*
    Thanks for answers~ :)

    Upgrade your database version to 11.1.0.7.

    You need to set your path to point to the <wls-install-home>/bin/oci8xx_x/
    folder as well. I dont think 5.1 supports 817 type 2 driver, you may have to
    use the thin driver from oracle instead.

    I have an Ipad, I activated the time capsule with no issues. I added the airport Utility application without issue.  However, I do not know how to access the hard drive with either my Windows computer or the Ipad.  Does someone know how?

    On windows load the airport utility .. latest correct version as possible.. there is no windows 8 but win7 works after a fashion.
    Make sure the TC is using SMB compatible names.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.
    Type the name directly into windows explorer.
    \\TCname or \\TCIPaddress
    If no luck turn off all the firewalls.. internal windows plus security software plus whatever other gargyoles and other rubbish AV software you have running.
    Ensure windows is able to at least ping the TC by IP address and name..
    Use the utility in windows to set file sharing to guest account on with full read and write access.. and set workgroup to WORKGROUP.

  • How to integrate Oracle Right Now with our application Calling Button and Chat Button  Application is on WebCenter  Sites

    How to integrate Oracle Right Now with our application Calling Button and Chat Button. Application is on WebCenter  Sites

    Thanks handar. As per your instructions I have tried OAM authorization policy and its working fine. But we also wants to check the same with OES also. Currently I have configure weblogic SM and created domain. In same domain I have deployed my application also. I have created application, resources and authorization policy to authorize /myfolder/index.jsp if user has some specific role. Now if I try to access my web application using http://host:8001/CONTEXT/myfolder/index.jsp, it doesn't check if user is authorized or not. I guess my application is not related to the resource I have created. Please help me with this. Also, let me know if we can retirive logged in user from session and use for authorization.

    Hi @Leys
    I see you are stilll unsuccessful installing the drivers as you get the blue screen.
    Here is a link to Computer Does not Start (Windows 7, Vista, XP) that may help.
    Here is a link to Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista) to determine if your graphic card is defective.
    If the graphic card fails, here is a link to the HP Pavilion g7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. Please note page 9 or chapter 1 page 9 for a list of recommended replacement graphic cards.
    If the graphic card passes you may wish to consider doing a restore back to a known good time or a full recovery back to factory.
    Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
    Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)
    During the recovery process there is an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.  If you have not done one yet I suggest you do one now.

  • PS remoting with Kerberos authenticated sites

    Hi everyone,
    I was looking at the fabulous PowerShell Remoting feature and had it functional on a Windows 2003 server. Really cool !
    Then I tried to activated it on a Windows 2008 R2 with Sharepoint 2010 configured with Kerberos authenticated sites. Fail.
    It seems that WinRM needs an SPN HTTP for the machine name itself whereas If I do that, I'll get stuck with duplicate SPNs (Application pool service account already has a HTTP SPN). I tried removing the service account SPN and create the machine SPN and then
    it works.
    So my question is in the title :
    How are you supposed to configure PS Remoting with an already Kerberos-authentication website configured without having SPN duplicate issues ?
    Thanks!
    Wes

    Quick update on this as I have more infos.
    The DNS workaround you mention fsocas is in the case that WinRM (or enable-PSRemote) is actually working and running.
    In my case, it's not the case because WinRM isn't able to "activate" the listener, it will trigger a security error before doing it.
    For your case fsocas, I suppose you could just use this method to make it work :
    On your machine (from which you ps-remote):
    Set-Item WSMAN:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts -value 'ip address of the server'
    So here's the complete scenario I have.
    SharePoint 2010 server with Central admin running on it using this url :
    http://name-of-the-server:8080
    This url uses an application pool running under a domain account (let's call him domain\mycentraladmin)
    To setup Kerberos, I added the corresponding SPNs to the domain account of the application pool (domain\mycentraladmin) :
     - HTTP\name-of-the-server
     - HTTP\name-of-the-server.domain.org
     - HTTP\name-of-the-server:8080
     - HTTP\name-of-the-server.domain.org:8080
    So the Central admin site uses Kerberos for authentication. Everything works.
    Running "Enable-PSRemoting -force" wll fail with this error :
    Set-WSManQuickConfig : WinRM cannot process the request. The following error occured while using Negotiate authenticati
    on: An unknown security error occurred.
    or more specifically (using winrm command directly)
    Error number: -2144108387 0x8033809D
    An unknown security error occurred.
    So, since WinRM seems to check for a HTTP SPN set on the computer object (HTTP\name-of-the-server), it will always fail because it will find the HTTP SPN but not set on the computer object. Thus, it cannot authenticate using Kerberos and just fails.
    To have a proper configuration, I found out an interesting fact :
    http://blogs.dirteam.com/blogs/tomek/archive/2009/12/20/kerberos-a-sprawa-portu.aspx
    Internet Explorer only checks for a HTTP SPN on the default HTTP port (80). To force him to check the HTTP SPN with the port, you need to add a specific registry key.
    Here's my simple Powershell script for this:
    $Reg_Key = "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_INCLUDE_PORT_IN_SPN_KB908209"
    New-item -type Directory $Reg_Key
    New-ItemProperty -Path $Reg_Key -Name "iexplore.exe" -value "1" -propertytype dword
    Note that this needs to be done on the client side (your machine).
    Now, I modified the SPN configuration. It now looks like :
    - HTTP\name-of-the-server:8080
    - HTTP\name-of-the-server.domain.org:8080
    I remove the default HTTP SPNs (which were necessary before applying the registry key to connect by Kerberos on the Central admin). But with the registry key in place, I'm able to log on to the Central admin with Kerberos.
    With this working, I went on the server and triggered the cmdlet "Enable-PSRemoting -force". Success :)
    Et voilà ! A nice setup without any dirty workaround.
