How to sign a 509certificate with another non CA certificate

Hi,
How to sign a x509 certifcate with another certificate (not CA)? does keytool helps?

you will probably want to use OpenSSL. google around for how to setup your own certificate authority, such tutorials usually include instructions on signing and importing with keytool etc.

  • How to communicating one application with another?

    I wanted to make a web site that have the ability to view,update,insert and delete record in a database. How to do that? How can one application communicate with another? example, I wanted to have XHTML communicate with Java and Java to communicate with my database that is pointbase database.

    Multi-tier application communication is a somewhat complex matter. It may be made using differents techniques and designs. But like Sum-shusSue said, a typical Java-based solution would use these Java technologies: JSP (Java Server Page) for the presentation side (the client), Servlet or EJB (Enterprise Java Bean) for the server-side logic. The communication with the Database is made through JDBC.
    I suggest that you take a look at the J2EE edition of Java. That stands for Java 2 Enterprise Edition and it is specifically made for enterprise system development, such as Servlet, JSP, EJB, etc...
    This is a whole lot of new subjects and, from my humble experience, it is not that easy. i.e. I would not recommend it for strict newbies. However, if you have some months of Java coding on your side, maybe you should take a look. You can check first the left menu of this site, you'll find, under Technologies the sub-menu J2EE. There's also, somewhere on the site, tutorials on differents J2EE topics. Finally, I would recommend you this book:
    Professional Java Server Programming, J2EE 1.3 Edition, edited by Wrox. Of course, there a lot of other books on hte market. J2EE is a hot topic!
    Hope this help...

  • How to sign the applet with verisign certificate?

    Hi,
    I got a test certificate from the Verisign.
    Now I want to know, how to sign my applet with that certificate?
    Thanks,
    Siva E.

    Hi!
    You have to create a keystore wich contains the certificate. I think you call keystore -import "verisign.cert"Try the command, and it will tell you what it needs.
    To do the acutal signing of an applet (jar-file), you write somehting like this:
    jarsigner  -keystore "NameOfKeystore" -keypass "PasswordToPrivKey"  -storepass "PasswordToStore" "YourJarFile.jar" "CertAlias"The cert alias is an alias you created when importing the certificate. Hope it Helps!

    Hi Amitk,
    PDF is a commercial software which is not supported in MSDN forum. Maybe some forum talk about PDF is a better place to ask this question.
    I make a quick research on the web, and you may need to use some third party to sign a PDF document through DSC. Check this :
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/378247/digitally-sign-pdf-files
    Hope this helps some.

            byte[] cleartext = "This is just an example".getBytes();
         Signature signature = Signature.getInstance("SHA1withDSA");
            signature.initSign(bobKpair.getPrivate());

            byte[] ciphertext = bobCipher.doFinal(cleartext);Run the code again, the output is
    Error: java.security.InvalidKeyException: No installed provider supports this key: com.sun.crypto.provider.DHPrivateKey
    What's wrong with the code, It seems that the bob's private key is not instance of DSAPrivateKey but DHPrivateKey.
    what's your comment? thanks a lot.

    thank sabre150 for your reply. But the key pair is generated when I use DH to exchange the secret key. Yes! It is a DH key pair and cannot be used for signing. The DH key pair can only be used for secret sharing.
    If I can not use this private key to sign the data, what can i do?Do I have to generate another key pair for signature? In that way, I will have two key pair. Yep. You can generate a DSA or an RSA key pair to be used for signing.
    Because I use http protocol to exchange the key to get the shared secret key, Yep.
    If I generate another key pair, how can i send the public key to server? Since public keys are 'public' then you can send them in the open to anyone you like. In fact, if you don't publish your public keys then they are pretty much a waste of time. The biggest problem one has with public key is proving 'ownership' - if someone sends me a public key how do I know that the sender is actually who they say they are?.
    I am confused.Some reading might help. A pretty good starting point is "Beginning Cryptography with Java" by David Hook published by Wrox.

  • I have changed my apple ID but cannot get my Mac computer to change it on iCloud.  I have signed out but do not know how to sign back in with my new id.

    I have successfully changed my apple ID and password, but cannot get my Mac computer to change it on iCloud.  I have accessed system preferences, iCloud and sign out.  But now I do not know how to sign in using my new id and password.  I would like iCloud to work on my Mac so that it will sync to my iPhone and iPad.  I have installed all of the latest software.  How do I change this account on my Mac?

    Do you have your Mac backed up?
    If not, you should use Time Machine to back up your Mac to an external hard drive just "in case".
    But if all you did was change your existing ID, then deleting the Calendar infomation from the Mac when you sign out should not be an issue. Since it is the same Apple ID, it is the same iCloud account (just with a different name), so your Contacts, Calendars, etc. are stored in iCloud. When you sign back in, you will have the option to sync Contacts, Calendars, Notes, etc. with iCloud - it should already be checked. Just sign back in, and your iCloud info will re-download to your Mac.
    I just tried this, and all of my stuff showed up when I signed back in. Notes took a couple of seconds to load once I opened them, but they are all there.
    Note: If you are signing on with a brand new Apple ID, then nothing will be downloaded because it will be an entirely different iCloud account. But if it is the same Apple/iCloud/iTunes ID with just a new email, then it will all be restored.
    Cheers,

    How do I sync my iPad with my new computer?  I have imported all my songs, books, apps, etc. but did not do it by dragging over the old iTunes folder because the file structure is different and I did not want to mess up the new file structure with the old one.  Now how do I get my new computer to become the "one" that my iPad syncs with?

    Have you ever synced with this computer before? If you did, have you synced with another computer since then?

  • How to replace one variable with another in large number of queries

    Hello guys!
    I have this situation: our company needs to use one variable instead of another for certain amount of queries.
    Is there some way to automatically replace one variable with another for a certain characteristic in big number of queries ( like 150 - 200 ) ? Doing this manually would take lots of time)
    Apreciate your help!

    you could try (at your own risk) the following:
    1. search the technical id (ELTUID) of your variable in table RSZELTDIR
    2. see where this variable is used in table RSZELTXREF (by filling RSZELTDIR-ELTUIID in RSZELTXREF-TELTUID)
    3. add similar entries for your new variable
    4. delete the entries for the old variable (they're part of the key, so you can't simply "change" them)
