  • Activex image viewers to view multipage tiff images

    I have some multipage tiff images which i need to show up on forms. but the image item doesn't support multipage images. does any body know any other activex components which can replace image item and can display multipage tiff images. or is there any tricky way to show multipage images on oracle forms. thanks.

    where are your images in? file system or table?
    do you want to show one image at a time and navigate to another one or show multiple images at one time?
    in table, you may use query and next_record; in file system, you may read next file by read_image_file() eatch time clicking a button.

  • Splitting multipage tiff files?

    Hi,
    We have a webdynpro application that retrieves documents from the SAP backend.
    These documents are mainly multipage tiff files that need to be splitted into single pages and finally be saved in the backend.
    Any creative ideas how to tackle the issue?
    Thnx
    MK

    Michael, welcome to these discussions.
    Use the "Open Image Sequence" (File menu).
    All of your .tiff files must be sized the same dimensions and be named in series (1.tiif, 2.tiff, 3.tiff, etc.).
    They must all be in one folder.
    Highlight the first image in the list and hit the "Open" button or enter key.
    Pick a "frame rate" and click "OK" button or enter key.
    QuickTime Pro will then assemble your "movie" from your .tiff files.

  • How to edit 16bit TIFF image sequence file in FCP?

    Dear all,
    I have a number of 16 bit TIFF image sequence files (2048 x 1024 resolution) - some of them are RED footage, and others came directly from our f/x guy. We are going into a color correction session in a post house and we've been asked to provide a sequential 16 bit TIFF image sequence of the edited time line.
    I need to do a cross dissolve b/w most of the clips I have. I have created image sequence QT movie (reference files) from the TIFF images. Though they play fine in QT player, when I try importing into FCP, I am met with a "general error". I tried both dragging it into QT, as well as File --> Import.
    I am wondering what can I do to get these clips into FCP in order to apply the cross dissolve transitions I need. Is this a problem relating to the 16bit nature of the TIFF files?
    I tried exporting the TIFF image sequence standalone QT movie, and those imported fine. However, I have a feeling that the standalone movie conversion also decrease my bit depth from 16 to 8. (When I do my final TIFF output from FCP after dissolves / transitions had been applied, each TIFF file is now 8 MB instead of 12 MB, hence my suspicion that the bit depth is adjusted).
    Are there any settings I am missing, or does FCP simply don't support 16 bit image sequence reference file. As a test, I had also converted all my TIFF to jpg, and created jpeg image sequence reference file. These reference QT file can be successfully imported to FCP and I can edit them as if they are a clip.
    If FCP is not able to handle these files, what are my other options? After Effects?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Michael
    <Edited by Moderator>

    As far as I know, both FCP and Color only support up to 10 bit color, which is 1024 levels for each color channel, more than enough for avoiding color banding.
    If you need 16 bit for sure, I believe AE will support 16 bit output. Another 16 bit application would be the extended version of Photoshop, which has some limited time line capability.

  • How to batch convert tiff images to jpeg in Pages document

    I have a large (about 1Gig) Pages 5 Package document with hundreds of images, mostly in tiff format. Since the software became nearly unresponsive, I need to convert image files in jpeg (though I wonder why unresponsiveness in the Package mode). Reducing file size is not an option since it decreases resolution.
    Is there a script, perhaps, that would convert all images in a Pages document to jpeg?

    What version of Pages?
    Not to my knowledge.
    You may be able to create an AppleScript, a very long shot, but it will not use Pages to do the conversion and will take longer to do than simply correcting all the images and reimporting them.
    Preview.app can convert from one format to another and there are Automator workflows that will convert image formats. You will lose some detail because jpegs are a lossey format whilst tiff is not. Have you looked at reserving the images as compressed tiff files?
    How did you get into this position? You must have known the file would be huge with so many large images in it. Pages 5 is particularly bad, increasing file size exponentially.

  • How to load compressed tiff image formats with JIMI

    this method
    Image image=image = Jimi.getImage(imgResource);returns incorrect Image width & height (-1) for TIFF compressed formats.
    is there any jimi example showing how to properly load the tiff compressed image ?
    thanks.

    Wild guess: how old is JIMI technology? Has it been
    kept uptodate, or has
    it been abandoned? And is LZW compression in TIFF
    format a more recent feature?yes i checked jimi docs and here is what they say :
    TIFF
    * Bi-level / Greyscale / Palette / True Color images
    * Uncompressed images
    * CCITT compressed Bi-level images with CCITT RLE, CCITT Group 3 1D Fax, CCITT Group 3 2D Fax, CCITT Group 4 Fax, CCITT Class F Fax
    * Packbits compressed images
    * LZW Compressed images
    * Tiled TIFF files
    * Handles all values of Orientation
    * TIFF / JPG compression variant
    * any color space except RGB
    * True Color images not of Red/Green/Blue format

  • How to Render a TIFF image sequence with After Effects or Premiere

    So I shot a timelapse in RAW using my D5200.  Developed the images, imported into after effects to make a composition at 1080p 24fps, the clip is 15 seconds long.  Then I rendered the clips a few ways and none of them are what I want:
    I used the H.264 first, its just pixelated and blocky, doesn't retain a smooth resolution. H.264 output an MP4 that was 6.5 MB.
    Then I tried lossless and it output an AVI which is awesome resolution but the file is 2 gigs! Not even VLC media player will play it smoothly without buffering.
    Last I tried H.264 BluRay which output an M4V file which is 45 MB and I can't get it to play.
    So now I'm here asking you all what the way to go is.  When I download films, I will aim for a 1-2 gig 720p or 1080p file on roughly 2hr films.  The resolution is great, the audio is great and the file like I said is only 1.5gigs average.  So what are the rendering settings I should be using to get a file like this? Should I be importing it into Premiere Pro first or what?
    -Thanks
    Bruno
    For Reference, here was my workflow:
    I generally followed an Adorama Rich Harrington Time-Lapse youtube video on workflow which was:
    Developed the Raw files in Camera Raw
    Used the Image Processor to create the Tif files
    Imported into After Effects as a TIF sequence
    Interpreted the sequence as 24fps
    Changed the Composition settings to 1080p 24fps
    Then did the rendering as detailed above

    1. You don't need to export your TIFF sequence so as to import it into After Effects, you can import RAW image sequence into After Effects directly. Camera RAW will start automatically on importing. What is more, you will be able to change your Camera RAW settings at any time you want inside your AE project: in Project panel select your RAW image sequence, right-click, choose Interpret Footage -> Main... In the dialog box click More Options... button (at bottom left), and Camera RAW opens.
    2. Do NOT export to H.264 out of After Effects directly. If you need to export your composition to H.264, export it out of Adobe Media Encoder. Start from HDTV preset. If your goal is to upload your media file on e.g. YouTube, done. If you want to play it back on your computer, but your mediaplayer can't playback it in real time, start to decrease bitrate settings. Keep in mind that modern AVCHD cameras shoot with 28 Mbps, first AVCHD camcorders were shooting with 17 Mbps, YouTube preset in Adobe Media Encoder sets bitrate to 10 Mbps, Vimeo preset - to 8 Mbps.
    Choose VBR, 2 Pass so as to benefit from better quality out of smaller file size.
    See this The Video Road blogpost on Understanding Colour Processing and benefits of Render at Maximum Depth option.
    3. If you're planning to use your After Effects composition in Premiere Pro project, you can use Adobe Dynamic Link. If your After Effects composition is quite complex, render a Digital Intermediate out of After Effects and import it into Premiere Pro. See this discissuon in AE Forum on some production codecs comparison.
    P.S. See also this FAQ: What are the best export settings? entry.

  • How do you split a vector image into several different colors

    Hi, I'm trying to make an infographic for my company and wanted to use an image of christmas tree I found. I put it into Illustrator CS6 and traced it with the 16 colors option ( which i believe makes it a vector). What I want to do is change the colors of the christmas tree on each level of needles, but I can't figure out how to split up the image to change it into different colors. Sorry if this is confusing, any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Audrey

    Audrey, first off, you should know this:
    Working with "a vector graphic" and working with a vector graphic that is the result of Illustrator's Image Trace are very likely to be very different things.
    You would be much better off if you were starting with a tree graphic that was designed and drawn as a vector graphic in the first place. The people reading your post here can only imagine what's on your screen and how the Image Trace utility might have "seen" and traced it. I'll go so far as to say you won't be able to accomplish what you describe with an Image Trace as the basis. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I do know I wouldn't dare put myself through the anguish of attempting it. Honestly, I think you'll have a better chance of pulling it off if you keep the tree as a raster image, open it in Photoshop, and recolor sections of the tree there. But again, that could be determined with considerably more certainty if I could actually see it.
    As a side note, I'd like to add this: You refer to the christmas tree image as one that you "found." I read that to mean you found it on the Internet. If that's the case, and the infographic you're planning is only for an internal presentation, it's not really a big problem, but even then you should consider acquiring permission or license to reuse the image. However, no matter how you might adapt or alter the image, just about any other scenario involving your re-use of that image could lead to issues of legality. Please don't pirate images.

  • Displaying multi page tiff images

    Hi there
    I need to display a multipage tiff image, such that I can scroll through the different pages n the tiff file. I am new to ni vision and hence your inputs would be very helpful.

    Take a look at this thread.  You'll need to download the libtiff DLL here.
    I managed to get it working in about 5 minutes, and could load a
    multi-page tiff into an array, and then split it into multiple Images.  The code is not the nicest, but it'll do the basics.  Alternatively you could try getting the .NET version of libtiff and calling it directly.
    Cheers ~ Greg

    can anyone please tell me how to load a .tiff image file on an applet .

    You're right Java does not do TIFF's, so they have Java Advanced Imaging--JAI. It's docs are packed with examples on how to load and display TIFF's.
