  • How to start and shutdown Oracle Applications 11i?

    Currently, I've installed an Oracle Applications version 11i under Sun Solaris environment. However, I encountered problems when I tried to backup the whole system for fallback purpose. I'm not really sure about the procedures in shutting down the Oracle Applications components. So, is there anyone could tell me such procedures, hopefully including the command used for shutting down the whole application system? Thanks.
    Besides, I would like to know how can I start Oracle Applications 11i as a daemon? If cannot, how can I start the server within the UNIX shell? Thank you very much.

    You will have specified a common directory in your installation, which is usually referred to as COMMON_TOP.
    Under <COMMON_TOP>/admin/scripts there are a host of shell scripts for stopping, starting apps components. Also, under the database Oracle Home (816 or 817) you will find an appsutil directory with similar scripts.
    Typically these two directories will be in your PATH.
    You can create a stop script, typically as:
    adfrmctl.sh stop
    adrepctl.sh stop
    adfmsctl.sh stop
    adfmcctl.sh stop
    adapcctl.sh stop
    adcmctl.sh apps/apps_password stop (wait till FND processes cease, a sleep 300 might suffice)
    adalnctl.sh APPS_<SID> stop
    addlnctl.sh <SID> stop
    addbctl.sh stop
    A start script would call the same scripts in the reverse order, substituting stop for start.

    Hi,
    You can use: startManagedWebLogic.sh, it is in your domain directory and you have to execute it in this way
    ./startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServerName http://adminServerHost:adminServerPort
    For instance, in my case I use:
    unixserv01:/webportal/domains/appServerWeb/bin>startManagedWebLogic.sh managedServ01 http://pelma3w3per01.mesaperu.next:7001
    You have to run it on the machine where the managed server was installed.

  • Starting Discoverer Administrator

    hi
    I am a starting to use OAS on SUSE 10 SP2. I have installed it. The database and OAS metadata repository database is running perfectly, Now, I need to run Discoverer Administrator to create End User Layer and Business Areas.
    I am trying $OH/discoverer/discwb.sh , but it is not opening. Is it the right way to start Discoverer Administrator. If yes, then why is it not opening in my case?
    If no, please, tell me the correct way, so that I may proceed.
    A second question, when the Discoverer Administrator will start I have to enter the user name and password. Which username and password is it? Either a username and password of the Database user or the metadata repository?
    Your help will highly appreciated.
    regards
    RF

    hi
    thanks for reply, but I think it is already installed. I can see the $ORACLE_HOME/discoverer/discwb.sh
    discwb.sh
    is it what your talking about, or i have to install it separately?
    regards

  • How to Start/Launch another WD application using a link.

    Hi, I've been trying to see if there's an official way that I can launch another WD application using a link from within an application where the applications are not in the same deployable object.
    P.S.  I've seen the other thread of how to do it when the applications are within the same deployable object.
    Thanks in advance as always,

    Hi Michael,
    of course it does, so the question should be:
    "Hey, how do it get the application URL of a WD application without hardcoding the server name, port or whatever?"
    This is simple:
       * Return is the application URL for the specified <code>deployableObjectPart</code> with appended
       * URL parameters given by <code>urlParameters</code>. All key/value pairs in the map must
       * be of type java.lang.String.
       * @param deployableObjectPart a deployable object part representing a Web Dynpro application
       * @param urlParameters key/value pairs added as URL parameters; they must be of type String
       * @return the application URL for the specified <code>deployableObjectPart</code> with appended
       * URL parameters given by <code>urlParameters</code>
       * @throws WDURLException if the URL couldn't be generated
       * @see com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.url.api.WDURLGenerator#getApplicationURL(WDDeployableObjectPart)
      public static String getApplicationURL(WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectPart, Map urlParameters) throws WDURLException {
        return AbstractManager
          .getServerPlatformImplementation()
          .getURLGeneratorFactory()
          .getURLGenerator()
          .getApplicationURL(deployableObjectPart, urlParameters);
    or if you would like to get it load balanced:
       * Return is the workload balanced application URL for the specified <code>deployableObjectPart</code> with appended
       * URL parameters given by <code>urlParameters</code>. All key/value pairs in the map must
       * be of type java.lang.String.
       * @param deployableObjectPart a deployable object part representing a Web Dynpro application
       * @param urlParameters key/value pairs added as URL parameters; they must be of type String
       * @return the workload balanced application URL for the specified
       * <code>deployableObjectPart</code> with appended URL parameters given by <code>urlParameters</code>
       * @throws WDURLException if the URL couldn't be generated
       * @see com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.sal.url.api.WDURLGenerator#getWorkloadBalancedApplicationURL(WDDeployableObjectPart)
      public static String getWorkloadBalancedApplicationURL(WDDeployableObjectPart deployableObjectPart, Map urlParameters) throws WDURLException {
        return AbstractManager
          .getServerPlatformImplementation()
          .getURLGeneratorFactory()
          .getURLGenerator()
          .getWorkloadBalancedApplicationURL(deployableObjectPart, urlParameters);
    Before i forget it to mention, these are two methods of the WDURLGenerator API. There are others where you don't have to specify the deployableObjectPart, you can use DPO name and name of application as parameters instead.
    Hope that helps.
    Best regards
    Stefan
    PS: This was my 2nd attempt, i hope i got you right now...

  • Application 11i Installation Problems

    I just bought the trial version application 11i CD pack. When I tried to install it to my computer with NT4.0 service pack 6, it did system check. I used stage area rapid install. The installer find 2 errors.
    First error is 'System Utilities Check Check system for make,
    ld,ar and cc'
    Second error is 'JDK availability Check Check that a JDK exists
    in the location supplied by the user'
    My questions are:
    1.When I check the error for detail, the first one tells me that
    'Check MKS Installation'. What's MKS though? and what's make,ld,
    ar and cc? Where can I get them and how to install them?
    2.Where can I get JDK?
    3.When I look up installation guide, I found that I need go to Metalink to get to know how to download and install JDk. But when I go to Metalink, It ask me to signin. I am not Oracle Contactor. I have no CSI. Is it mean I can not get JDK when I am not contractor? If so, why Oracle is selling application 11i trial version CD packs. It's gonna be some way to install 11i trial version.
    Is there any one could help?
    Thank you very much

    Hi all,
    I ran into the same issues with the MKS software - Developers Edition. I contacted them, and the following work-around was supplied.
    We have created a work around for Oracle users so that they can still use
    MKS Toolkit for Developers (instead of the more costly option- Toolkit for
    Professional Developers).
    You can do what you need to with tkdev using 1 of the following:
    1) Find out from what scripts the Oracle software is calling ld, and change
    it to call cc instead. Some linker specific options may need to be changed,
    but try it first with just changing ld to cc. This is the preferred option,
    and the one most likely to provide success.
    2) Temporarily create ld.exe as follows:
    a) cp $ROOTDIR/mksnt/cc.exe $ROOTDIR/mksnt/ld.exe
    b) cp $ROOTDIR/etc/compiler.ccg $ROOTDIR/etc/ld.ccg
    This will probably work as long as the command line that Oracle is passing
    to ld is very simple. This usage of cc.exe (by copying to ld.exe) has been
    observed to work in simple cases, but is not supported by MKS.
    I tried method 2. The reason here being, I would rather have unsupported code from MKS, than Oracle.
    But, alas, it did not work. This is now the only item I have to resolve to start the installation.
    I am open to suggestion ? I have obtained the enterprise edition of MKS, but I would still like to get the thing working with the developers edition. Also, if there are any differences between Windows 2000, and XP, can you list them
    WARNING : I am using a server with Windows 2000 professional. Microsoft's latest updates include
    service pack 3.
    DO NOT INSTALL SERVICE PACK 3
    or you will receive an invalid Operating System error

  • How to start new instance of Application server 6.0 sp3 on Solaris

    Hi!
    I am a new user of iPlanet Application server (ver. 6.0 sp3) for Solaris and I have problems with starting new instance of App. Server. Directory server and administration server are started during installation but application server isn't started. I've used Application Server Command Line Utilities to start server but I've got message "you must register
    the server instance via the application server admin tool". I've tried to do that but I don't know how. I've searched documentation and I haven't found what I'm looking for.I would like to know where can I find instructions for starting App. server?

    Hello,
    Start your "ksvradmin" from $IASHOME/bin/ksvradmin tool - a GUI tool and under file menu register the server instance by supplying port on which the server is running.. it is intuitive..
    Thanks

  • Discoverer 3.1 & Applications 11i Security

    I'm currently using Discoverer 3.1 in applications modewith 11i.
    I was under the impression that using an Applications username/responsibilty to log on would only allow the user to access the same data they could access in Applications. i.e The Applications security would be applied within Discoverer.
    I've since been told that this is not the case. Users will have access to ALL data within any tables they have permission to see within the business area.
    However I have also been told that the applications security may work if I base the business area on the apps views that already have the security built into them. I've tried attaching some of the apps views and the results seems to be the same as for the tables i.e users can see all the data within the view.
    Has anyone managed to build folders in Discoverer that inherit the security from applications? Or is it just a case of manually replicating all the apps security again in Discoverer?
    null

    James
    I had similar problems and the solution I found is..
    If you are trying to use the Hierarchy Security in HRMS then you should build your Business Area on views. Do not use the tables to retrieve the data. The HRFV_ , HRV_, views have the security built into them.
    If you are trying to apply the Flexfield Security rules to apply to discoverer then the business area should be created using the GLFG_ views. These views can be created from Oracle Applications using the "Business Views Setup" responsibility.
    You cannot look at the data in the above GL views if you are using SQL*PLUS or Toad. You need to launch discoverer user edition with the GL Responsibility to look at the data. Also make sure that the name of icon is "Dis31usr" if not it will not work.
    I have tested the above and they work fine.

  • How to start Discoverer from a JSP

    Hello,
    Can Discoverer be opened from within a JSP? One of our clients would like to allow their end-users to create, print, export, and maybe email reports from within their Java application. Currently, the reports are created overnight via a mainframe program which generates a generic COBOL report that gets archived to a cold storage product. The requirement to allow ad-hoc customizable reports is what I'm unsure of. Can Discoverer do this?

    Hi,
    You can open Discoverer from a URL so your JSP could redirect to a Discoverer URL or open Discoverer in a new browser window. Discoverer would then run in a separate JVM on the client.
    An alternative is to have a Discoverer workstation networked to your server, that runs Discoverer reports either overnight or on request from users. The reports output from the workstation are then emailed/printed or returned to the user as HTML.
    Hope that helps,

    There is no "default application server" in the J2SDK - that's just plain Java. Mind you, I'm not trying to be nasty here, but since you didn't know that, don't you think your e-mail address is a bit misleading?
