I'm receiving a lot of mails from diffferent companies for sales.... How is it possible to stop receiving mails from them?

Your email provider usually has some sort of spam filter. Make sure you are using it correctly to avoid getting promotion emails.

Your SMTP server is provided by a carrier which only allows the outgoing mail server to be used when you are connected to their network. Receiving emails will always work, but sending emails will only work when you are connected via their connection;

How to stop Siri from sending invitations when I just want to put it on MY calendar.

Whenever I say, "Add to calendar lunch with Beth on Tuesday at 1pm" it emails Beth or whoever and invites them without me even knowing. THERE MUST BE A WAY TO STOP THIS. Please someone at APPLE tell us how to do this. I beg of you. I've resorted to not using siri or using siri in a crytic way ""Add to calender lunch with my collegaue who teaches family law on Tuesday." Yeah! At minimum, Siri should ask prior to sending junk mail out to people.

Developer: How can I let people open files with my program?

Hello Everyone,
I just finished my program for the Mac, and decided to make it an application.
I used Platypus to make my program into an application. Unfortunately when I try to open a file with my program (control + click on file + open with -> other), my application is grayed out and I can't select it. I see it there along with the other applications but I can't select it like I can Mail or TextEdit.
I read somewhere I had to use XCode to let people open files with my program but I have never used XCode and I have no idea how to do that. Any help would be appreciated.

To use XCode Tools you need to install it from the Optional Installs folder on your OS X Installer Disc One. It comes with documentation. More assistance can be found at developer.apple.com.

How Sapscript form can be send by mail

I want to send a Sapscript form by mail.
I think it should first be converted to PDF form and than need to be send by mail.
I have created a z form which is a copy of standard for medruck and also have changed the standard program SAPFM06P. So I need to add functionality in z program so that i can send the sapscript form by mail.

How to stop ical from sending email notifications for updates on my share ical calendar

Is it possible stop ical from sending email notifications for updates I make on my share ical calendar?
Mac OSX 10.7.2
Very annoying for the person I am sharing my calendar with to get an email every time I change something.
I hope there is a way to stop the emails, but for the updates to still go on their calendar.

Great idea Lofty! thanks. If the person you are sharing a calendar with is a Yahoo Mail user, you only need to set up one filter (under Options - Mail Options - Filters) and route to Spam folder or a special folder for that purpose.
Add a filter with the following parameters:
Sender contains: "Your First and Last Name" as it appears in the emails they are receiving
Subject contains: "Your First Name"
Email body contains: "iCloud"
Don't need to match case on anything.
So far, only these unwanted emails are being routed to the folder I chose.
Hope that helps until Apple gets it's act together

How to set up delayed sending with Mail ?

Since I am not allways internet connected, I would like in Mail to send my mail only when I am connected, or to decide by myself when to send mails.
How to set up this fonction ?

If you are not connected to the internet when selecting Send for a message, you will receive the following error message.
Error
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The server "the account's SMTP server here" cannot be contacted on port 25 (or whatever Server Port is used by the account's SMTP server).
When connected to the internet and launching Mail, all messages that remain in the Outbox mailbox will be sent automatically.
No other setting is required but if you select Send for a message when not connected to the internet, you cannot prevent any messages from being sent that remain in the Outbox when connected to the internet and launching Mail.
If you want to decide when to send messages that were composed when not connected to the internet, save the messages as a Draft. Open the saved Draft message and select Send.

How do you let people submit pictures and writings straight to me?

I've already tried doing the e-mail hyperlink, but that is not always set up for my visitors. I want to let people copy and paste their stories into a text box and it gets sent to me or my e-mail. And I don't want my visitors to see other stories because they could just be junk. Any ideas?

You could use a basic contact form where people enter their name and email and have a Text box instead of the Comments box.
You would need to make the form big enough for a reasonable amount of text to appear at one time and adjust the number of columns and rows in the text box to suit.

Although the text box "expands", it would be better to make it as wide as the page permits and a reasonable number of rows long so that people can proof read a fair amount of what they have written without having to scroll too much.

Why won't my phone let me send e-mail?

I can receive e-mails from my MSN account, but ever since I updated the software I cannot send e-mails from MSN account. An error pops reading as follows:
Cannot Send Mail
The connection to the outgoing server "smtp.live.com" failed.
Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings >Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Is this MSN issue or a phone issue?

Same issue, started yeserday, a day after updating to IOS 5.0.1. I however don't have msn mail. My provider is Surewest. Interestingly, on both days it didn't start acting up until 4pm and corrected itself a couple of hours later. Can't find a thing on the web as far as a listing for similar problems go. I also am using an iPhone 3GS.
Any help here?

How to stop Siri from sending email invitations?

When I put a meeting or appointment on my calendar using Siri, I find that it sends out an email to the person. Yikes! I don't want this to happen unless I specifically send such emails. How can I stop this?

I've noticed this too. When Siri creates one (from my words) like 'Appointment with Dr. Smith', no invite is sent. If I use the name corresponding to his card in my contacts, the email is sent without confirming.
Another topic suggests a setting in Calendar on iCloud.com. (Settings is at bottom left.)
Elsewhere, a suggestion to turn off 'New Invitation Alerts' in iPhone Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars (1st item under Calendars) Going to give this a try.

Entourage not letting me send e-mails but can recieve them...

Everytime I try and send an e-mail using entourage with my COX email account to any e-mail adress, the following error message is displayed:

My e-mail account was working just fine until recently when this problem started occuring. It only occurs with my COX account and will let me recieve all my email but not send any through this account. I called COX and they told me they can't help me with this problem other then going over the correct incoming/outgoing server names, which I confirmed are correct.
I have searched for this error code on google and on these forums but could not find anything about it...anyone know how to fix my problem so I can send emails again?

Error -17099 is an Entourage error kSMTPServerReplyErr, and is returned when the SMTP server has returned a permanent or transient error or returns an unexpected result code.
This error is coming from your ISP.
Users have reported this error when sending to large groups. ISPs limit the number in a group. Usual number is 50 recipients to avoid spammer misuse. Entourage has no limit. You should contact your mail provider to ascertain the maximum number of recipients per message and note it. You can use the free "Split Recipients" script to send a mass e-mail in separate mailings automatically:
Is there some reason your ISP won't help you other than telling you the server names? It may be that for whatever reason your ISP has flagged your account as a spammer. I'd certainly contact them again.

You can set a default email address here:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > underthe Mail section - Default Account.
Any email you start will use this account by default but you can change this manuall by tapping the email address in the From field. That whill bring up a dial to select the email address you want to send from.

How to resolve inability to send Apple Mail to new ISP server from work.

Switched to Insight Broadband over the weekend. Now at work, I can receive email but not send it. The error message is authentication required, yet Insight specifically does not require any authentication on its outgoing server and I set up the account in Mail to require password authentication for incoming. Have read similar topics and neither Insight nor my employer blocks port 25. Insight's lame web support gives instructions in Entourage to override the receiving port to 995, requiring SSL, which Mail seems to have picked up on automatically. However, the same Entourage instructions advise to override the default sending SMTP port to 465 and require SSL. How does one override the default sending SMTP port in Mail (from 25, I presume) to 465 and require SSL? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your kind assistance. It apparently requires more configuration work to use cable broadband than dsl broadband. I had discovered your path (sorry not to have said so), but the error message led me to both override the port AND to port to use password authentication, even though the basic account setup if connected directly to the Insight modem or peripherally to it through routers or switches or using Insight's broadband servers for your workplace specifically advises to use NO authentication on the outbound server. Finally, once the Insight tech and I stumbled on the Proxies setting "Manual" in Network and UNCHECKED "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV), all has seemed to be settling down, although it seems that I am also having to change the address of the outgoing mail server to reflect password authentication as well. Stay tuned.
