How to store entire files in a oracle 7 database
How can i store entire files for example image files in a oracle 7 databese. Does is support LOB??
How can i store entire files for example image files in a oracle 7 databese. Does is support LOB??Hi there,
to be short: yes you can.
I actually did it myself, but there a several problems to tacle first:
- Use LONG RAW as datatyp
- you can have only one column in a table with LONG RAW
- consider the overall amount of space used in the database
- adjust the size of the rollbacksegments.
Have fun

How to load text file data to Oracle Database table?
By using Oracle Forms, how to load text file data to Oracle Database table?
Metalink note 33247.1 explains how to use text_io as suggested by Robin to read the file into a Multi-Row block. However, that article was written for forms 4.5 and uses CREATE_RECORD in a loop. There was another article, 91513.1 describing the more elegant method of 'querying' the file into the block by transactional triggers. Unfortunately this more recent article has disappeared without trace and Oracle deny its existence. I know it existed as I have a printed copy in front of me, and very useful it is too.

How to store an excel sheet in oracle database
How can I store excel sheet into oracle.
Or you could use Heterogenous Services to treat Excel as an external database:
1- Go to Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)>System DSN and create a data source with appropriate driver. Name it EXCL.
2- In %ORACLE_HOME%\Network\Admin\Tnsnames.ora fie add entry:
EXCL =
(DESCRIPTION =
(ADDRESS_LIST =
(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 10.12.0.24)(PORT = 1521))
(CONNECT_DATA =
(SID = EXCL)
(HS = OK)
Here SID is the name of data source that you have just created.
3- In %ORACLE_HOME%\Network\Admin\Listener.ora file add:
(SID_DESC =
(PROGRAM = hsodbc)
(SID_NAME = <hs_sid>)
(ORACLE_HOME = <oracle home>)
under SID_LIST_LISTENER like:
SID_LIST_LISTENER =
(SID_LIST =
(SID_DESC =
(SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
(ORACLE_HOME = d:\ORA9DB)
(PROGRAM = extproc)
(SID_DESC =
(GLOBAL_DBNAME = ORA9DB)
(ORACLE_HOME = d:\ORA9DB)
(SID_NAME = ORA9DB)
(SID_DESC =
(PROGRAM = hsodbc)
(SID_NAME = EXCL)
(ORACLE_HOME = D:\ora9db)
Dont forget to reload the listener
c:\> lsnrctl reload
4- In %ORACLE_HOME%\hs\admin create init<HS_SID>.ora. For our sid EXCL we create file initexcl.ora.
In this file set following two parameters:
HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = excl
HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = 0
5- Now connect to Oracle database and create database link with following command:
SQL> CREATE DATABASE LINK excl
2 USING 'excl'
3 /
Database link created.
Now you can perform query against this database like you would for any remote database.
SQL> SELECT table_name FROM all_tables@excl;
TABLE_NAME

How to store data from xml in oracle database
Hello All
Could anyone tell me ways of storing XML in Oracle and whats the best one in terms of performance issues.
any URL to this q/s would be great.
thanks
kedarBen,
The following link as some information regarding DOM API and XSQL.
http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/ask/f?p=4950:8:2923508047773696280::NO::F4950_P8_DISPLAYID,F4950_P8_CRITERIA:17309127931717
For XML DB, you may want to create an XMLSchema and build a table off the schema definition. Then use WEBDAV to load the xml into a folder (ie object table) Once the xml is in the database you could build a view for a relational look at the data.
Example from XMLDB Techical White Paper doc.
create or replace view PURCHASEORDER_MASTER_VIEW
(reference, requestor, userid, costcenter,...)
as select extractValue(Value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/Reference'),
extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/Requestor'),
extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/User'),
extractValue(value(p),'/PurchaseOrder/CostCenter'),...
from PURCHASEORDER p -

How to store Html File in Oracle Table?
Hai,
I want to store Html File(s) into oracle Table. How can I do it?.
Please help me. Html File size can be maximum 40 MB .
Regards
SureshIf it's just pure HTML it's nothing more than astring so you could store it as such.
Most databases have a limitation on the maximum number
of characters that a string can hold. With 30MB of
text, a CLOB (Character Large OBject) is the
preferrable type but a BLOB (Binary Large OBject) can
also be used.
;o)
V.V.Right, right. But, I kind of doubt that an html file takes up 30MB, can you imagine browsing a web site, regardless of your connection, with pages that size? We're talking ~125,000 line of pure HTML code (no images)! -
How to store image files in oracle DB
Hi,
I am new to working with database.
Please let me know how to store image files in Database using insert command.
Thanks,
Ramesh Yakkala.Hi,
You need to create a directory object to import these files:
Take a look on the example below:
eg:
CREATE TABLE MY_IMAGE_TABLE (
ID NUMBER,
NAME VARCHAR2(20),
IMAGE BLOB);
CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY IMAGES AS '/tmp';
GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY IMAGES TO PUBLIC;
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE load_file_to_my_table (p_file_name IN MY_IMAGE_TABLE.NAME%TYPE) AS
v_bfile BFILE;
v_blob BLOB;
BEGIN
INSERT INTO MY_IMAGE_TABLE (id, name, image)
VALUES (1, p_file_name, empty_blob())
RETURN doc INTO v_blob;
v_bfile := BFILENAME('IMAGES', p_file_name);
Dbms_Lob.Fileopen(v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.File_Readonly);
Dbms_Lob.Loadfromfile(v_blob, v_bfile, Dbms_Lob.Getlength(v_bfile));
Dbms_Lob.Fileclose(v_bfile);
COMMIT;
END;
SQL> execute load_file_to_my_table('myfhoto.jpg');Cheers -
How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?
Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic or Code for how to do is welcomed.
plz help me urgently.
Thanks,
GopiHi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder
Regards,
Karol

How to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table
Hi,
Please tell me how to import the data in a .xls or .xlsx file into a oracle database table in Oracle 10gR2 using Oracle Warehouse Builder 10gR2.....can we do something through Non-Oracle->ODBC?Yes, it is possible, look at this thread
[SQLServer access from AIX Warehouse builder|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2502982]
If your server (with target DB and OWB runtime) is on Windows OS this configuration will be simpler - you can use single server.
And additional link on OWB blog (with 11g transparent gateway)
[http://blogs.oracle.com/warehousebuilder/2008/01/11g_heterogeneous_agent.html]
(configuring nonoracle connection with 10g generic connectivity very similar to 11g gateway)

How to find .pld files version in Oracle apps
Hi,
How to find .pld file version in Oracle apps using unix command or any other way.
RegardsConnect to the forms server.
In the $AU_TOP/resource directory run the following...
strings -a <NAMEOFFILE>.plx | grep '$Header'
For example...
To find the .pld version of INVAMCAP.plx I would run this on the forms server.
cd $AU_TOP/resource
strings -a INVAMCAP.plx | grep '$Header'
This will return the .pld version.
Hope this helps!
