How to update to Safari 2.0.4??

My update to Safari 2.0.4 failed (probably because I tend to rename my apps with their version number, so the old Safari was named "Safari 2.03", but this is never any problem with iTunes or QuickTime). There was a new app, called Safari (with version number 2.0.4) but I can't get it to run at all. It just bounces a couple of times and then quit. I can still run the older 2.0.3. But how can I update this to 2.0.4?? Or is there a way to download 2.0.4 as a standalone??
The rest of my updates (to 10.4.7) and security fixes worked fine.
I am grateful for any help!!

To get Safari to update to 2.0.4 reinstall Mac OS X 10.4.7 Combined Update that should do it.Remember to run disk premission repair, befor & after.
Make sure all applications are using their original names, and are stored
in their respective folders, to see the version you just click under the application and get the info on version from the "About Safari" etc.

How to update to Safari 4.0?

I hadn't gone into my iTunes store for a while and today when I tried to it said I needed to update Safari to version 4.0.3 in order to use the store. So I then went to apple.com to find this new version of Safari and I found 3 versions I could download, 1 for Tiger, 1 for Leopard, and 1 for Snow Leopard. I'm running OS X 10.5.6....But the version for Leopard says you need 10.5.8 or higher. I tried downloading all but the Snow Leopard version of Safari and when I tried to install it I was told it was only compatible with, yep, 10.5.8 or higher. But I only have 10.5.6. So I apparently can't use the iTunes store without the newer Safari, but I can't get the new Sarari to install with my - apparently - old version of OS X 10.5.6. What to do to get the new Safari so I can get back to the iTunes store and actually spend money with Apple?

You need to update Leopard to 10.5.8 before installing Safari 4.

You should also ensure that you have installed all recent security updates.

Drag the Safari icon straight up and off the Dock so it goes, "poof" ...
Now click and hold the Safari app in the Applications folder and drag that to the Dock.
See if you can open a webpage in Safari.

The download worked better with Firefox not sure why. At the bottom of the page after the captcha>> slow down load is the Free link, it took about 4 minutes to download on my test.

I recently thought I was updating my Safari browser. When completed, I put all those little files that were on the desktop into the trash. Now my trash is saying it can't be emptied because there are locked files and I don't know how to unlock them

Now my trash is saying it can't be emptied because there are locked files and I don't know how to unlock them or get them out of my trash and they keep multiplying. And to make matters worse, I tried renaming them as pdf files thinking that might do the trick.

oh boy ! I'd ask you if you knew what kind of files they were or where they came from, but I don't think you could help me a bunch. Try going to the Utilities folder and running Disk Utilities. If you want to empty the Trash and it won't empty, go to the finder and choose "secure Empty trash". Worse case scenario-you may have to reinstall Snow Leopard, but I don't know what else to suggest. If you have a DVD of Snow Leopard, boot up from that, and reinstall the OS. This will not touch the stuff you have on your Hard Drive, then you can update from 10.6 to 10.6.8, otherwise Onyx? Maybe those files are part of the OS which needs them to keep running. if you hold down the Shift key on reboot, you can reboot in Safe mode and maybe you can take the files out of the trash that way

1. Open command window
2. Copy and paste:

You can't. It's now integrated with the URL bar. It's a search/URL combo.

TTBOMK Safari is part of iOS. So to upgrade Safari you must upgrade iOS.
