How to Upload a File to Server(JSP - Tomcat)?

Hi,
I want to upload a file to Server(Where the Tomcat is Running) to a particular directory.Let it be \tomcat\webapps\exapmles\Viki\.But note i dont have rights to map the drive from CLient side.I want to upload the file from client side to the unknwn server to a particular directory

u don't need j2ee and struts to do file uploading. An example is as such
in JSP. u use the <input> file tag like

Yhe logic used here is as follows,
Get all the data into an internal table in the simple format ie: a row with one field contains an entire line
After getting the data, we split each line of the table on every occurrence of the delimiter (comma in your case)

I thin that you asked the same question before and I premember that I ointed you to the ADF BC developer guide and the SRDemo if your application uses JSF. For plain JSP - if you Google for: JSP and file upload then you find plenty of sources for JSP and Struts.
The remaining part is how to stiff the file into a BPEL service on the middle tier. For this I recommended to ask your question on the BPEL forum

I don't have much experience of WDABAP. I have to upload a file to server and then download it again. I have implemented this functionality but I am unable to view contents of .xls/.doc/.docx/.msg file only txt file contents are properly visible. I have used following command to upload the file:-
OPEN DATASET fname FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
I had also tried this but it is throwing exception that it can be used only for character type data.
OPEN DATASET fname FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING UTF-8 WITH SMART LINEFEED.

How to upload a file to two different servers?

Hi All
We have a JSP page in our web application where we allow user to upload a file. The file is saved on to the JBOSS application server's deploy folder. Now we have another server where we need to have copy of the same files uploaded by the user.
We have two servers server A and server B. The web application is deployed on to both the servers. These two servers are part of the cluster, so whenever a user access the application he can go to either of the severs. Lets say he uploads a file on server A .
Later when he comes back to the application and now say Server A is down. So Server B will server user requests. But in this case he will not get his uploaded file as it was uploaded on to the server A when he last accessed the application.
So, we need to copy the file to server B also when he uploads to server A and vice-a-versa.
How can we upload a file.copy to another server?
Please help.

Thanks for the solutions.
Separate FTP server for files sounds to be the best solution but as of now we can not have the separate FTP Server for files only. As well we can not make whole lot of changes now to save files into the db as there are already plenty of files uploaded by users on the live servers.
So, what now we can do is to write code to copy the files to each server in cluster whenever a file is uploaded on any of the servers in the cluster.
Is there any sample code to do this?
We have a file upload utility class which uploads file on to the same server at specified location.

FTP command- PUT
local file - your file name
local directory - path of your local file
remote file - your target file name

The apache jakarta commons FileUpload project has sample code for how to upload a file.
To store the file in the database you would use a preparedStatement. You can use anyone of the following methods ; setBlob, setBinaryStream, setBytes.
The datatype of the column storing the document depend on the databse. SQL Server used image and postgres uses bytea
