How to use integer as char

Hi!
I have an integer (5). And now i want to use it as char ('5').
I have already tried (char)(5) but that returns me a strange char--char with unicode (5).
How should i change the type of variable?
Thanks

The following might be logical (not practical).
char c = ((Integer.toString(5)).toCharArray()[0]);

  • How to use integer in case structure on FPGA

    Hi there,
    I was trying to use a case structure on FPGA module. The input to case selector terminal could be arbitrary integer like 0x1EEE or 0x2000 or 0x3FFF. Since I cannot find integer-string conversion on FPGA, how can I do it? Thanks

    Hello!
    If you want to create a case structure to handle arbitrary integer values, you can always use the decimal representation of the hex value (i.e. instead of 0x00FF, use 255).  If you want to create cases for the hex values, you can right-click on the case structure, and choose Radix>>Hex.  You should notice that all cases are now preceded with an 'x' to denote hex values.  This will allow you to create cases called x00FF, which sounds like what you're looking for.

  • How to use OFFSET for CHAR type value in Bex query

    infoobject A value = 1102007
    Type = CHAR
    I want to have an offset for this infoobject created in query say 1 to 12 months
    in month of 10/2007 value = 1102007
    remember above 1 is always CONSTANT
    then
    in month of 11/2007 value = 1112007
    in month of 12/2007 value = 1122007
    how to do this since the infoobject is of TYPE- CHAR ,its gives we cannot do the OFFFSET in the query ,for doing OFFSET the infoobject must be of type numeric or NUMC.
    is it possible achieve this in to update rules?? since i cannot change the type of this infoobject now in the middle of production support
    please help
    thanks

    Hi,
    You will have to add a characteristic to your cube.
    The format should be NUMC
    In the update-routine you will have to convert the char value to numc

  • How to use integer constants in switch

    Hello!
    I try:

    case CHANNEL_B:

    case CHANNEL_C:
    return 2;
    default:
    return -1;
    and get: "error: syntax error before '=' token" after "case CHANNEL_A:" string
    Then, I try:
    Connection.h
    extern const int CHANNEL_A;
    extern const int CHANNEL_B;
    extern const int CHANNEL_C;
    Connection.m
    const int CHANNEL_A = 0x01;
    const int CHANNEL_B = 0x02;
    const int CHANNEL_C = 0x03;
    switch (channel){

    case CHANNEL_B:
    return 1;
    case CHANNEL_C:
    return 2;
    default:
    return -1;
    and get: "case label does not reduce to an integer constant" after "case CHANNEL_A:" string

    Or try an enum
    enum CHANNELS {
    CHANNEL_A = 0x01
    CHANNEL_B = 0x02
    CHANNEL_C = 0x03
    enum CHANNELS channel;

    break;
    case CHANNEL_B:
    ... do something ...
    break;
    case CHANNEL_C:
    ... do something ...
    break;
    #defines DO NOT HAVE EQUAL SIGNS! What C book are you reading?
    #define CHANNEL_A = 0x01;
    Associates "= 0x01" with the pre-processor macro CHANNEL_A. The pre-processor will substitute "= 0x01" everywhere it sees CHANNEL_A. So when you say
    case CHANNEL_A:
    the pre-processor replaces that with
    case = 0x01:
    and that is NOT correct case syntax, hence your compiler error.
    And *const int* is not a compile time constant, or at least not one that switch/case wants to see. *const int* is a variable that you promise will not change.

  • How to return integer used wit DMBS_SQL as ref cursor ?

    I am trying to return a ref cursor form a procedure to be used by xsql to output hierarchical XML.
    I created the query using the DBMS_SQL package, did an OPEN_CURSOR and then PARSE.
    Can I, and if so how, return the integer from the PARSE as a ref cursor out of my procedure ? According to the docs the integer in the PARSE is the ID number for a cursor.
    thanks,
    Reinier

    I suspect that you are a little confused. I doubt that what you are asking for is what you really need. I believe you want the contents of a ref cursor, not an integer that is the cursor id. Since you are using Oracle 8i, as mentioned in your other post, you don't need DBMS_SQL; You just need to open a ref cursor dynmacially. Please see my response to your other post:

  • How to use sax xml parser

    hi was wondering if someone could give me an example on how to use sax
    and a document handler and explain a bit

    to use sax parsers you need basically to extends handlerBase wich will force you to have the 3 following methods
    // imports for the sax portion of the manager,
    // the portion that will permit the interpretation of
    import com.sun.xml.parser.Resolver;
    import org.xml.sax.*;
    import org.xml.sax.helpers.ParserFactory;
    public class XMLManager extends HandlerBase
    private String currentElement = null; //current element name for parsing
    * Default constructor
    public XMLManager()
    /*SAX METHODS*/
    * This method is called when the SAX parser encounters an open element
    * tag. Must remember which element tag was just opened (so that the
    * characters(..) method can do something useful with the data that is
    * read by the parser.
    public void startElement(String name,AttributeList atts){
    if( name.equalsIgnoreCase("MY XML TAG NAME") )
    currentElement = "MY XML TAG NAME";
    //then do stuff for that type of tag
    * This method is called when the SAX parser encounters a close element
    * tag. If the message tag is closed it means the message is valid and ready
    * to be treated
    public void endElement(String name){
    currentElement = "";
    * This method is called when the SAX parser encounters #PCDATA or CDATA.
    * It is important to remember which element tag was just opened so that
    * this data can be put in the right object or variable.
    * Also the start index and length integer must be used to retrieve only
    * a portion of the data stored in the char[]
    * This section will only contain treatment for tags wich have content
    * between start and end tags
    public void characters(char ch[],int start,int length){
    //dont read ch[] , use the
    //range provided by the SAX parser.
    String value = new String(ch,start ,length);
    Once you have defined these 3 methods, define a method called for example parseIt(String mss) wich will contain the following code to parse the content of a string mss, a string containing xml data
    try
    //create an InputSource from the XML source received
    StringReader r = new StringReader(mss);
    InputSource is = new InputSource( r );
    //create a SAX parser using SAX interfaces and classes
    String parserClassName = "com.sun.xml.parser.Parser";
    org.xml.sax.Parser parser = org.xml.sax.helpers.ParserFactory.makeParser(parserClassName);
    //create document handler to do something useful
    //with the XML document being parsed by the parser.
    parser.setDocumentHandler(this);
    parser.parse(is);
    catch(Throwable t){System.out.println(t);t.printStackTrace();}
    you can't fail with this ;)

  • How to use the table maintenance events for validating the input entries..?

    Hi,
    I have created a Z table with 6 fields in which all are KEY fields. All are of CHAR type. I have created the Table Maintenance Generator for the same. While maintaining the entries in the table, even though I maintain a blank entry for a field it is saving the entry. But, I don't want that way. All the fields are mandatory in my table. One should enter all the fields. Otherwise it should not allow to save the entry. So, I think it can be done using the Table Maintenance Events. can someone tell me how to use the Table Maintenance Events. and which event to use for my reuqirement and what is the logic to be written.
    Or Is there any other way to solve my problem.
    Please share your inputs. Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    paddu.

    In the table maintenance generator, Environment --> Modifications --> Events then a screen will be appear here,we need to create the Events.In the EVENTS screen, press new Entries, there give 01(Before Saving the Data in the Database) and give a name(This will become a PERFORM), then click the Editor pushbutton, this will be there at the right side of the entry, then a popup will be appear, you can create an include program, there inside of the include program write ur code.
    Here is documentation for Event 01(Before Saving the Data in the Database )
    Event 01: Before Saving the Data in the Database
    Use
    This event occurs before new, changed or deleted entries are written to the database. Other activities can be performed, for example:
    hidden entry processing
    fill hidden fields
    flag data to be written to hidden tables after the database change.
    To have the changes saved by the central maintenance dialog routines, SY-SUBRC must be set to 0 at the end of the routine.
    Realization
    This event has no standard routine. The following global data is available for the realization of the user routine:
    internal table TOTAL
    field symbols
    field symbols <ACTION> and <ACTION_TEXT>
    <STATUS>-UPD_FLAG
    If internal table data are to be changed before saving, t he changes should be made in both the internal table TOTAL and in the internal table EXTRACT.
    FORM abc.
    DATA: F_INDEX LIKE SY-TABIX. "Index to note the lines found
    LOOP AT TOTAL.
    IF <ACTION> = desired constant.
    READ TABLE EXTRACT WITH KEY <vim_xtotal_key>.
    IF SY-SUBRC EQ 0.
    F_INDEX = SY-TABIX.
    ELSE.
    CLEAR F_INDX.
    ENDIF.
    (make desired changes to the line TOTAL)
    MODIFY TOTAL.
    CHECK F_INDX GT 0.
    EXTRACT = TOTAL.
    MODIFY EXTRACT INDEX F_INDX.
    ENDIF.
    ENDLOOP.
    SY-SUBRC = 0.
    ENDFORM.

    Hi,
    Take one integer value attribute in the context of view
    when you r performing action on POP1 set it's value to 1
    when you r performing action on POP2 set it's value to 2
    create one method which receives integer argument, say diaplay(int a)
    In the action call display(wdContext.currentContextElement().get<intvariable>()) by passing the value in the context attribute
    in display() method, Check the value of integer variable..
    if it is 1 then perform action related to POP1
    if it is 2 then perform action related to POP2

    1. I'm not sure what you are asking.  Do you want to enter in all of the holidays for the next 10 years?
    2. For this specific date literal example, you can find it in the scripting volume 3.
    Here is the excerpt from the documentation on date literals:
    Date Literals
    The date literal is always of type Date. The following are the  different syntax formats you can use to enter a date.
    DateLiteral:
         DateDeclarator [n o w ]
         DateDeclarator [DateDesignator TimeDesignatoropt]
    DateDeclarator [ DateDesignator TimeDesignatoropt ]
    DateDeclarator: one of
         d D
    DateDesignator:
         FullDatePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "EEEE, MMMM d, yyyy"
         LongDatePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "MMMM d, yyyy"
         MediumDatePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "MMM d, yyyy"
         ShortDatePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "M/d/yy"
    TimeDesignator:
         FullTimePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "h:mm:ss a z"
         LongTimePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "h:mm:ss a z"
         MediumTimePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "h:mm:ss a"
         ShortTimePattern:
                Defined by the pattern "h:mm a"
    Example Date Literals:
    D[12/13/52]
    D[Dec 13, 1952]
    D[Thu, July 4, 2002]
    D[July 5, 2002]
    D[July 7, 2002]
    D[7/6/02]
    D[Thu, July 4, 2002 5:59 PM]
    D[July 5, 2002 5:59 PM]
    D[July 7, 2002 5:59 PM]
    D[7/6/02 5:59 PM]
    D[Thu, July 4, 2002 12:23:59 AM]
    D[July 5, 2002 12:23:59 AM]
    D[July 7, 2002 12:23:59 AM]
    D[7/6/02 12:23:59 AM]
    D[Thu, July 4, 2002 12:23:59 AM CST]
    D[July 5, 2002 12:23:59 AM CST]
    D[July 7, 2002 12:23:59 AM CST]
    D[7/6/02 12:23:59 AM CST]
    D[now]
    Details for the date and time patterns are available in the  documentation of the java.text.DateFormat class. If the string now is used, then  the literal corresponds to the current date in the server's default timezone at  the time the literal is evaluated for the first time.
    Each date literal is a reference to an instance of class  java.util.Date.

    Hi Mariano,
    I'm using JSP presentation too. In "Interactive Component Call" active i'm using "Use JSP presentation", but i only can define one instance variable, i need to add more instance variables. In "Advanced" option of this task, i have the argument mapping .. but i don't understand how to use it.
    I have a instance variable called "genders" of the type String[Int] (Associative Array) and i'm mapping this instance variable in "Arguments Show In" option of the advanced option of JSP presentation. In JSP presentation i have the code:
    <select <f:fieldName att="person.gender"/>>
                   <c:forEach var="gender" begin="0" items="${genders}" varStatus="status">
                        <c:choose>
                             <c:when test="${person.gender == gender}">
                                  <option value="<c:out value="${gender}"/>" selected="true"><c:out value="${gender}"/></option>
                             </c:when>
                             <c:otherwise>
                                  <option value="<c:out value="${gender}"/>"><c:out value="${gender}"/></option>
                             </c:otherwise>
                        </c:choose>
                   </c:forEach>
              </select>And in my screenflow i have the code:
    genders[0] = "Male"
    genders[1] = "Female"But when i run my application, i have the error: "The task could not be successfully executed. Reason: 'java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.Integer'."
    What's the problem?

    }Additionally I noticed that you have put single quotes around total in the following line:
    String Query2 = "SELECT COUNT(*) FROM userteam WHERE total > '"+total+"'";Are you sure that the total column in the userteam table is of string type? If not, you don't need the single quotes.

  • How to use a cascading LOV as a Web Services Consumer?

    How to use a cascading LOV as a Web Services Consumer?
    We are trying to populate a prompt programmatically.
    Our program is a Web Services Consumer.
    As an example we use Island Resorts Marketing
    The cascading LOV for City is
    Country -> Region -> City
    The City object is key-aware to the customer table
    The query is
    Customer | Revenue
    (where) City = [prompt]
    In order to make the key-awareness work, we must select the value (rowIndex) from the LOV
    When we run our program below, the LOV for City is not populated, as expected since we must first select the Country, then the Region.
    The code snippet below shows that the LOV for Country is populated. We have no idea how to go from there.
    Any hint will be immensely appreciated.
    Let us know if anything is unclear in the code.

  • How can we Restict the Char single value Variables with , , =

    Hi Experts,
    How can we Restict the Char value Variables with <, >, <=  (without selecting Inverval or only passing single value)
    For Example
    We have a standard Query 0FIAR_C03_Q1005, in this
    New Selection
    "1 - 15 Days, Posting Date<=Key Date, Clearing Date>Key Date"
    This is restricted  with the
    Clearing(0CLEAR_DATE)
    <Clearing key date(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
    PostingDate(0PSTNG_DATE)
      <= Posting keydate(0P_KEYD3)  It is a single value SAP Exit Varible
    When seeing these 0P_KEYD3, 0P_KEYD3 variables in the New selection screen they looks like  >0P_KEYD3, <=0PSTNG_DATE
    if you define any custom variables these are looks like =ZV_DATE.
    to enable < , >, <= symbols for variables what we need to do.
    In other way
    Say we created one variable ZV_DATE single value, processing type as customer exit.
    for this we populated current day,
    Now Requirement is we need to display the all the records which are <= current date,
    instead of passing low and high values, i want to restrict the calday <=ZV_DATE
    New selection
    0calday
      <=ZV_DATE
    How can we achive this, this is how the business content report having the restrictions
    Please sugget me.
    Thanks
    Chandra

    Ok,
    In the InfoObject 0calday in the query designer under the filter area, under characteristic restrictions right-click over that InfoObject (0calday).
    In the next window (select Values for [0CALDAY]  Calendar Day in the dropdown box for "Show" choose Value Ranges. Under the word "Between"  dropdown box select "Less than or equal to"
    Below that word click on the button of the dropdown box Select from list.
    In the new window select instead of History Variables and double-click on your variable ZV_DATE.
    Click on the right blue arrow to move it to the right.
    And there you go.
    Tip: It exists a SAP standard variable named 0DAT which is exactly the current date (don't need to use ZV_DATE variable).
    Diogo.
