HP 8610 installation, problems installing software

Having issues installing my new printer. It shows on the network but when running the installation process, I keep getting failures. HP Troubleshooting determines software is not installed. I have deleted it several times and started from scratch from both the installation CD and the website. Not sure where to turn.

Hi @jonzy28 ,
I understand that you are having issues installing the printer on Windows 7 computer. I will certainly do my best to help you.
What error messages are you getting during the install?
Turn off the Antivirus Software and the Real Time Scanning if your Antivirus Software has this feature. It can affect the full software from being installed.
Then follow this document to register Windows components, msconfig and reinstall the printer software again.
Fatal Error 'Error 1603. A fatal error occurred during installation' (MSI Error 1603) Displays Durin...
If you have any further issues, check this document out for A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows.

  • Problem installing software on new imac

I am using a new imac and i tried to instal the software. It seemed to work with disk 1. I skipped verifying the disk though. Disk # 2 i will try to install. It will look like its finishing but then it will say problem instaling software. Please try again. I have tried it 2 times already. PLEASE HELP!!!

Let me see if I have this straight.
You are simply trying to install Mac OS 9.2 from disc 2, correct?
What happens when you insert the disc?
Does it mount on the desktop?
    Do you receive any errors?
Are you able to double click the install classic icon?
b I am using a new imac and i tried to instal the software. It seemed to work with disk 1.
So you were trying to reinstall the system software from disc 1?
Was this an upgrade of the software or a reinstall of what came with your computer?

  • Problems Installing Software on a Mac that is both Win and Mac compatible

I am new to Mac. My kids have a bunch of games and some educational software on CD ROM. The software case's say the CDROM is compatible with both Windows and Mac. I have not had a problem installing them on my old PC but cant get either my iMac or Macbook to install the software.

Check the exact version requirements on the box. Make sure it says OS X. If it only supports OS 9, then it won't work on Intel Macs (e.g. your MacBook and 2006 iMacs).
Also, there are a few bizarrely-designed games that are OS X compatible, but the installer runs in OS 9. If that's the case, you'd need to install it on a PowerPC Mac, then copy the game folder onto your Intel Mac (using flash drive, CD, file sharing, etc)

  • Installation problems installing new Canon MG3170 onto MAC Book Pro with OS X 10.7.5.  Tried installing  using set up disk. Didn't work.  Uninstalled files and downloaded drivers from Canon Website. Didn't work. Uninstalled again and plugged printer usb

Having problems installing Canon MG3170. Anyone have any solutions?  Here is what I have tried:-
-Installed from provided Canon disk, firstly with wireless connection, then using USB connection.  Printer could not be added because the Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple for both types of connections.
-Uninstalled software from the Canon disk, checked for software updates, then downloaded drivers (printer and scanner) from Canon Website.  Again tried to install using wireless connection then USB connecton.  Printer could not be added because Macbook returns that the software is not available from Apple
-Uninstalled drivers downloaded direct from Canon Website and plugged printer into Macbook using USB, Macbook recognised the printer and searched for the software, again Macbook returns that hte software is not available from Apple.
    Help!

    nrg adjusta,
Sorry it took me a while to repsond, Ive been pretty busy with school and work. But for my hard drive problem, I did hours and hours of more research and trying countless ways of installing and tweaking things in my laptop and absolutely nothing worked that I could do. It was very irritating because I felt like I was so close to fixing it and I was just missing a step somewhere. Though It still boggles me why the disk utility shows a different capacity for the HD's. One thing I'm going to try next is replacing the hard drive cable that goes from the internal HD to the macbook. I read somewhere that sometimes those can go bad over time, and also if you get a new, modern hard drive, sometimes the old cable (for some odd reason) might not be compatible with the new HD. So i want to test it out for myself to see it that is the actual culprit.
    http://www.ifixit.com/MacBook-Parts/MacBook-Hard-Drive-Cable/IF186-018
Once I get the cable and install it I'll let you know the results and if it helped at all.
Have you made any progress on your hard drive at all? If worst comes worst for you, you can probably get a SATA to USB cable and try to reformat it that way (this is the way that worked for me, but the only problem was it wouldn't be recognized when I installed it internally. Thats why i want to try getting the new cable), and if it still wont recognize it after that, you can just leave it outside of your mac, and just boot from that. The only thing that ***** about that is you have this big hard drive handing off the side of your mac when ever you need to use it.
Heres a link for a SATA to USB. this one is good because is compact and protects the HD from damage and most static electricity.

Im still continuing my search for the answer and once i find it (if ever!) I'll post it.

  • Installation problems - Vise software probs + Other problems with 10.4.11

I've posted elsewhere on the forum about this but wanted to try another tack. I have recently hit the automatic update button (having left it a year) when promted and let the Mac go and get the updates - including a firmware update. Then the problems began - Combustion won't open, After effects 7 won't open etc, etc, all the cross over aps wont work (ie the rosetta items). My scanner had continued to work ok until yesterday when it decided not to. I've downloaded the drivers, tried to reload the software and if allways goes to the dialogue box - this software unexpectedly crashed do you wish to report. All the time. Has anybody else had these kinds of problems??? has anyone got any solutions? Are the Vise/installation crashes a feature of 10.4.11? Help....

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...

  • Problem Installing Software Updates

    Hi everyone
I have another question for the sages of this forum... I've had my macbook pro for only a few months now and I've only just got around to installing the various software updates it requires.
Now, the ones I'm first trying to install are the updates for iTunes and for OS X. The macbook tells me I need to restart in order to install the updates. It then closes down the desktop and a 'Software Update' dialogue box pops up with a progress bar. This box reads: 'Installing 2 Updates' and under the progress bar it says 'Configuring Installation'.
But the problem is nothing seems to happen. The progress bar fills slightly (maybe a couple of millimetres, or a fraction of an inch for those of you in States) and then doesn't seem to do anything else.
Is this normal? How long should this process normally take?
If this isn't normal, what can I do?
This is the second time I've attempted to install these updates and this has happened both times.

It should not hang there like that for too long. I've seen some installs (especially OS X updates, e.g. the 10.5.6 update) take 10+ minutes, but there's a fair amount of activity in the install progress window. Normally, Software Update does a good job.
First off, make sure you are connected to AC power, and if possible, try connecting via Ethernet (assuming you are using Wi-Fi).
Alternatively, you can apply the update(s) manually. In this case, I expect it's the OS X update causing the hangup - so, you can download and manually install the 10.5.6 combo update:

  • Problem installing software using USB SuperDrive

Hi You Clever People Out There
I've tried to search previous enquiries, but from what I can see there are similar issues but not specifically one to match my problem... So thanks in advance of any help you can offer and apologies if I'm doing something really dumb....
I've been trying to load some software (Vectorworks and Photoshop Elements, specifically) using the USB SuperDrive, which I understand should now be compatible with my latest model iMAC 27'' (I bought it last month)
However, I seem to have lost permission rights as when I click on the installation file I get a message saying 'the application can't be found' (same for both discs / programmes). When I go to 'Get Info', the Sharing & Permisions states 'you can only read', with no apparent options for changing the setting
I can load and watch DVDs and the SuperDrive flags up in Finder as 'remote disc', but when I try to Get Info for this, I just get 'General' and 'Preview' categories. A third category 'More Info' does not load  - it just shows a continuoisly spinning dial with the message 'Fetching...' - or at least doesn't appear to as I've let continue for over 30mins
Prior to this I had succesfully installed the programmes on my PC - which I am planning to phase out in preference to the MAC - and both the disks are formatted for MAC OS Standard
Needless to say I've tried the 'switching on/off' and therfore exhausted my IT support tool repertoire:-) so hopefully there's enough info here for someone to recognise what's going on.

The Disk Utility repair disk can't be run on the boot disk from the boot disk.  You must boot into another hard drive and run Disk Utility from it on your boot drive. Or you can try booting into the Recovery HD that Mt. Lion creates.  There you can run Disk Utility.  I'm not sure if you can repair disk with this method but it's worth a try. I've only used it to reinstall the system on my iMac. Apple - OS X Recovery restores your Mac with a few clicks.
Another possibility is to boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode.  During startup it will run some of the repair routines that disk utility does.  That may be sufficient.  Reboot and verify the disk again with DU.

  • Problems installing software and updates on 10.6

Hi all, I've been having a few problems with Snow Leopard 10.6. I have tried to look at different posts which might offer answers but could not to my specific question.
I recently bought and installed Snow Leopard 10.6, but after its installation, I cant seem to install any updates (Mac OSX update combo ) or any third party programmes. It goes to the installer screen, after I press [agree] on the license screen. But when I press [install] nothing happens. I read some posts and have tried repairing disk permissions and even re-installed Snow Leopard as some have suggested in previous posts but this does not seem to solve the problem.
I did not have any such problems prior to installing 10.6, would appreciate if anyone could shed some light into whats going on, and how I might be able to fix it.
    Regards

    greetings Juan !

  • Problem installing software/updates...HELP!

Everytime I try to install new software or updates to existing software I'm asked for the admin. password. I'm the only user on my iBook so my password is the admin. password. However, when I use my password I get an error message saying that I need admin. permissions to complete the install/update.
Something is wrong since I've only gotten this message in the past couple of weeks. Up to that point I never had this problem.
I've checked and re-checked my password. I've checked and repaired the keychain permissions. I've checked and repaired my disk permissions (both my hard drive and additional RAM).
I'm at my wits end with this...I hope someone can help me out.
    Thanks in advance!

Start up with the system DVD(DVD in drive, hold down the c key).
Go under disk utility, select reset password.

  • MAJOR SOFTWRE PROBLEM INSTALLING SOFTWARE!!!

    Hi
1 )I tried installing my ipod nano cd on the computer and at the end of the installation, the whole thing disappears, like i havan't done anything.
    2) The only thing which happens differently is that for a very small moment the icon comes on the screen and before it can disappear and i click on it the error 2093 comes (Quick time failed to initialize) , this is driving me crazy...

Forget about the software on the CD and download iTunes 6. First, remove any previous iTunes product from your system and reboot. Also, turn off your virus scanner during the install of iTunes. If you have issues, report back and provide some details on your PC and software installed.
