HP DESKJET 1512 NOT CONNECTING

I have downloaded the software, and everything is fine until the last stage, a prompt comes on the screen asking me to connect the printer to my computer.
i have a usb connecting cable connecting the printer and laptop, however its still saying to connect a cable.
i have tried all of the usb ports on the laptop, plugged and unplugged both from the printer and laptop (and its a hp G56 laptop).
does this printer work with ONLY a hp deskjet 1512 usb cable??
it was frustrating enough to find out the usb cable was not included in the package : S

  • Deskjet 1512 not printing

    Hello!
I looked through the first 10 pages of topics to see if this was brought up, but it hasn't or I didn't see it, but here it goes.
Today, I purchased a Deskjet 1512 All in one at Walmart. I installed the printer and drivers without issues. The printer appears online and when I try to print, the printer just won't print out the documents. I tried everything that the users manual suggest, but with no success. I pulled up the printer page, and it shows the document as printing and a few seconds later it disappears, as if the printing was completed - but it is not -. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and the printer and it says it was successfully installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello Evelynrm,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the printer is completing partial print jobs. First, I would like you to perform a hard reset. I will provide instructions on how to perform this task:
    1. While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the printer, and its current electrical outlet.
    2. Hold down the power button on the printer for 30 seconds, while it is unplugged. This drains all the electricity out of the machine.
    3. Connect the one end of the power cord into the back of the printer.
    4. Connect the other end to a direct wall outlet (not a surge protector or power strip). This will ensure the machine can obtain more electricity, since lack of electricity can generate issues like this.
    5. Now, try to generate a copy.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, I would install the latest firmware on the printer. I have provided a document on how to update the printer: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
If the issue is still not resolved, try printing a test page from the printer itself and see if the same behavior occurs. Let me know the results!

  • Deskjet 3050 not connecting to my wifi network

Accidentally pressed Restore Default and my printer will not connect to my wifi network. How do reinstall it please?

    Hi @Rotini
A full feature driver for Yosemite is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website. This document applies to HP printers supported in Mac OS X versions 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion), 10.8 (Mountain Lion), 10.9 (Mavericks), and 10.10 (Yosemite) that only have drivers available through Apple Software Update.
With that being said, I can help you put the printer on your wireless network without software. I use this method for iPads, iPhones and other devices that do not have software.
Restore the network defaults on the printer by pushing the wireless button, going to settings, and then restore defaults. The wireless button should then start flashing, this means it is now in autowireless mode.
Connect to the network that the printer is broadcasting. It is usually HP-setup-3050a and then part of the MAC address. The wireless light will still be flashing on the printer at this point, this is normal since this is not an actual adhoc connection.
Load up the Embedded Web Server (EWS) in the browser on your mobile device. The default IP for autowireless is 192.168.223.1.
Go to the network tab along the top of the EWS.
Click on Wireless Setup Wizard along the lefthand side to begin configuring the printer.
You have now completed the Wireless configuration, follow the next 3 steps to start printing.
The blue wireless light will go solid, put the Mac back on your own network.
Add the printer to the System Preferences.
    Print

Unfortunately, the HP Photosmart 3150 is not compatible with the AirPort base stations. However, here is a workaround that you can try.

  • Deskjet 1512 Printer will not install....

    Hi
I have a Deskjet 1512 "All in one" printer.
I have followed the setup and installation instructions down to the last comma- and still some 6.5 hours later- I still have a new printer that does not work.
    I am running Windows XP / Service Pack 3 / Dotnet 3.5
I ran the installation disk (provided), made a cup of tea, ticked the boxes, answered the questions.
When prompted (and only when prompted) - connected my Printer and USB lead to the computer... that's where the issues began.
The "Full Feature" whistles and bells software began to try  and detect my device.
It was beaten to it by Windows Harward "Wizard" - telling me it had detected a new device....but it could not be installed "Due to a missing Module".
About 2 seconds later - the HP "Full Feature" software spits out it's dummy and tells me to connect my printer and check the USB lead......
So- I replaced ther USB lead with 4 different ones I have spare, as well as try all the various USB ports on my computer.
    Still the same issue.
    However-
The Scanner had installed- and works fine.
So I attempted a forced "Backdoor" installation of the printer drivers- via Windows Hardware Manager.
This all looked so promising- the Drivers finally looked as if they were installing.
At 99%, the Hardware Manager pop-up informed me that my "device had been install successfully"....
About 1 second later- another pop-up appears- now telling me that it wasn't possible to "complete an action"? and that my "device was not installed".
A brief flick through driver manager showed me that my scanner was installed, but the Printer wasn't.
I completely uninstalled the HP software, and then Dot Net.... cleaned all Temp files, and removed all rogeu Registry Entries.
Then Restarted my computer (after checking that USB 2 was enabled in the Bios- which it was)
I then re-installed the upto date Dot Net (downloaded via HP website), and the Up to date "Full Feature" software (also courtesy of the HP website).....and.....
    ......still the same.
    In short- I have tried:
Removing all previous installations of the HP software and Dot Net 3.5
    Reinstalling all of the above
    4 x Different USB leads
All the different USB ports on my PC
Swearing and Cursing (usually works with Microsoft Products only)
The only thing I have NOT tried, is Witch Craft and Country Dancing.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated......
    This question was solved.

    Hi again
As I have pointed out in my previous postings-
I have updated my version of XP, it's service Packs and also the version of DotNet- which I downloaded from this forum, and have double checked that it is the most up to date- which it is.
I have tried to "Copy" documents on the printer, and it does not do anything.
A warning light (beside the X button) flashes Orange.
I then tried to scan the document as a JPEG image- and that worked fine, it scanned, and saved with no problem whatsover.
I have tried (about 8 times now), the "Device Setup Failed to Complete" - and that pretty much states the obvious things to check when something doesn't work- the same things I have been checking for the last 6 or so days.
The Issue, is something with the software, as the drivers will not install to be able to operate the device correctly- despite attempting Various Uninstalls, Re-installs and manual installs.
In simple terms, installing the driver manually is fine; until it gets to the last stage- and then it stops and windows (kindly) informs me that "My printer was not installed as their was a problem".....it won't state what problem.
By using the HP installer; you go through the processes, and when asked to connect the printer, the HP software doesn't detect it, (though the XP Device Manager does).
    I have tried so far:
The Troubleshooting guide (as mentioned above, just seems to state the obvious)
8 Different USB leads of differing lengths.
All 6 of the USB ports on my computer- which otherwise work with other devices.
Un-installing the HP software, cleaning all traces from TEMP files and the Registry, restarting my computer and re-installing.
Manually installing the Printer using Windows Hardware Manager
Copying a document on the Printer - that doesn't work.
Scanning a Document on the Printer (That DOES work)
Ensuring that my version of Windows XP is up to date.
I have the latest version of Dot Not installed- which I have.
Installing "Next Driver down"- which does install the device, but it won't print.
I have been Unable to try another machine as yet, as I don't have another available.
But that I think is my next port of call.
Thanks for your help on this.

  • My Deskjet 3050 J610 will not connect to my Virgin WiFi router for use with Apple Mac laptop.

I live in the UK and have Broadband access via a Virgin connection and WiFi router. My Apple MacBook laptop connects to the WiFi with no difficulties. However I have an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer which will not connect to the router. When I try to connect, the blue light just keeps on flashing but a connection is not found. Consequently my MacBook cannot "see" the printer on the network. Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • HP Deskjet 3055A does not connect to WIFI with security

I am trying to configure a Deskjet 3055A on my DD-WRT router.  I am a highly skilled networking engineer so I know 100% what I am doing.
Firstly, DD-WRT does not support WPS conenction, because these are highly insecure.  This means my only method of connecting the pritner to my home network is to connect it to my PC and use the installation utility (dowloaded from your drivers page)  I am using version 28.8.
My router supports both 2.4 and 5GHz and I know the printer is only 2.4GHz.  I completely disabled the 5GHz network for the purpose of connecting the printer even though it should not have any effect.
I have also rebooted my router, and reset the printers wireless network using its in-built control panel.
Anyway, after a shameful 2 hours troubleshooting, I managed to find out that the printer WILL NOT CONNECT to the WIFI network if any security is applied against it.  It works 100% fine with open security however, this is completely unnacceptable.
I have tried both WPA Personal and also WPA2 Personal, both with the same effect.
For the sake of trying, I also added the printer to my open WIFI network and tried to manually edit the WIFI setting through the printers web interface however, whenever I try and access the Wireless setup wizard, I simply get an error saying "Internal System Error" - eventually I managed to get around this other bug that has been there for years (see http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-Networking-and-Wireless/Internal-System-Error-prevents-access-t...
After going through the printers web interface WIFI setup, the issue is still the same and it will not connect.
HP, we were about to order 2500 of these printers for our remote site users.  If you do not come up with a quick solution/bug fix, consider the business lost!

After much playing I managed to find a fix for this!
For all users who are unable to find a fix using the other methods, here's what to do.
Change your local network to open security but note down your WIFI setting for your typical setup.
Connect the printer to the open network using the HP software (using a USB cable)
Go to the printer's URL, but ensure you connect using HTTPS - if you get an internal system error, keep refreshing until it works (WHAT A JOKE!!!!)
Click on "Network" on the top, then click on "Advanced" on the left.
Enter the network settings as they should be when secured.
At the bottom, tick "In an infrastructure network, use 802.11b/g behaviour(assuming your netwoek supports g, otherwise use the b only option), then click apply.
Turn your wireless security back on, on your router and then the printer should connect!
I really am baffled as to why this isn't automatically enabled, if the printer doesn't work with wireless security on a Wireless N network, then have this as the default!
HP - feel free to thank me in this post!

     Hi rubyjim,
Thank you for the additional information.  I was very surprised to see the number of disconnects the printer has had in the last 24 hours.
From the information provided I’m surmising that you stopped at Step two: Evaluate the Wireless Network Test page as the Wireless Network Test page indicated you are successfully connected to your network.  In that step it asks you to change the change for your wireless router, would you please start at that step and test wireless printing?    If you are still unable to print please continue on with the remaining steps.  For easy reference I’ve included the Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection document again.

    Hi,
For the Deskjet 1512 you will need to install it on another PC or a Mac and share it with your Chromebook device using Google Cloud Print, a USB printer cannot be directly connected to a Chromebook.
You may follow these steps to get the printer working on your Chromebook:

  • Deskjet 3050 will not connect via wps or wireless

We recently changed to century link and the wireless printer does not connect to the internet. I deleted and tried reinstalling the software but with Mac OS X Maverick it doesn't show any or recognize it. The printer works connect through USB. In the HP Network configuration it says netwrok status offline active connection type none under 802.11 wireless status is disconnected everything else says enabled  and my netwrok was discoved with the SSID at page bottom. I called centurylink and they are confident their settings are correct.

    Hi gchart57,
Your model printer connects to a network with the aid of the HP software, either for Windows or Mac.  The driver provided through Apple for OS X 10.9 does not have the ability to connect the printer to the network.  It must already be connected.
WPS is normally a valid way to connect, but you might have to reset the wireless on the printer to get that to work.  This
Another method is to use a computer running Windows or an older version of OS X to connect the printer to the network and then Mavericks can see it.

  • Deskjet 1512 Wont print

I just purcheased a Deskjet 1512 and set it up, and it's not printing(from my laptop)(MacBookAir). It will print the "Test Page" perfectly, but not anything from my laptop. I've went online, did everything i have found, downloaded the "newest drivers" and everything, and it still wont print. Please help, thank you.

    Hey @JacobGuidry,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with resolving the issue that you're experiencing when trying print from your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to your HP Deskjet 1512 All-in-One Printer. Even though you have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for your Deskjet it does sound like there is a driver or software conflict occuring between your Deskjet and your Mac. Can I please have you follow the steps below to correct this issue.
Step 1: Reset the Print System:
To start, I am going to have you Reset the Print System on your Mac as it is important that we have a nice clean slate to work with for troubleshooting. Please click here for instructions on how to perform the Reset. When the website opens follow the steps under 'Resetting the printing system in OS X Lion.' This Reset will remove every printer from your Mac. However, it does not uninstall the printers. Therefore, should you use other printers on this Mac, once the Reset is complete simply ensure that the printers are connected via a USB Cable or Network connected and (+) Add them back in. Do not add your HP Deskjet back in at this time.
Once the reset is complete, please proceed to the next step.
Step 2: Uninstall Drivers and Software:
Next, please click here for steps on how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens select the dropdown for 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8, and OS X v10.9' and follow the appropriate steps to complete the uninstall process.
Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.
Step 3: Verify and Repair your Disk Permissions on the Mac:
Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    Go to the Utilities Folder
    Open the Disk Utility
Select the Hard Drive volume you are using (usually on the left)
    Select Verify Disk Permissions
Once that process is done, select Repair Disk Permissions
Step 4: Check for Apple Updates:
    Go to Apple
    Select System Preferences
    Select Software Update
    Click Update Now
    Install your available updates
    Restart your computer
    Step 5: Install Device:
Please click here to download the drivers for your printer
Once the download is complete please follow the onscreen prompts to reinstall your printer
Once your HP Deskjet is successfully installed please test printing again.
Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you!
