  • ABAP / Query to Identify Duplicate Rows in Cube

    Dear Experts,
We have a situation were some of our Cubes (due to compression and varying levels of forceful reloads) now contain duplicate rows.
What I need to know is :-
    1) Is there a way to identify duplicate rows where one of the characteristics are different but all key figures are identical.
    2) If so what is easier to achieve, ABAP routine/program or Query
    3) If ABAP suggestions on how to code such
    4) If query same.
What I need it to do is tell me which ClaimNo record (Primary Key) has duplicates and what characteristic has caused it.
I know I am asking for a lot but I really need to get this resolved as it's causing mayhem and trying to pinpoint these records is both time consuming and painful.  What we are looking to do with the records is establish how they became duplicated so we can prevent this happening in the future.
Your help as always much appreciated.
    Regards
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
My previous answer can find out what all cubes and data targets have been loaded based on a request.
Actually for your query. The following information will be surely useful.
    tables: /BIC/**(source ) , /BIC**(target)
parameter : fieldname like /BIC/****-fieldname ( In ur case the it can be primary key or Duplicate entry )
data: itab_source  like /BIC/*** occurs 0 with header line,
itab_destination like /BIC/*** occurs 0 with header line.
data: wa_itab_destination like line of itab_destination.
    select *
      from /BIC/*****
into corresponding fields of table itab_source.
      where fieldname = fieldname.
******Include your piece of code which is for deleting records
Delete adjacent duplicates from itab_source comparing characteristic ( i.e  duplicate characteristic you specified)
****Use this to delete the ODS Data before writing into it
    call function 'RSDRI_ODSO_DELETE_RFC'
      exporting
        i_odsobject  = 'ODS Name'
        i_delete_all = 'X'.
    if sy-subrc = 0.
      loop at itab_source.
        move-corresponding itab_source to itab_destination.
        append itab_destination.
      endloop.
modify /BIC/*** from table itab_destination[].   “target being written from itab.
      commit work.
    endif.
Please Reward points if this helps really.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

  • Barcode reader in ABAP.

    Hai guys,
Could some body give me idea about how to develop barcode reader module in abap.
    suggestions will be appreciated.
what are the topics should i have to cover before developing this module as project.
    pls guide me.

That may be true if you just want to scan a barcode into a SAPGui screen.
However full blown mobile processes are often more complex.  Warehouses and stockrooms often run off of mobile computing devices such as the following:
    http://www.intermec.com/eprise/main/Intermec/Content/Products/Products_ShowDetail?Product=CMPTRCN30
These devices have small display areas.  Some of the older ones even only run Character based screens. Nearly all of these devices will not run the SAPGui natively (because they are telent or PocketPC based).  The SAPConsole tool extends ABAP to be able to work passed all of these requirements.

  • Billing document date and accounting document date varying...

    Hello Experts,
There is one billing document and the date of invoice is, say today, 12/01/2009. and the accounting document date is, say 15 days ahead or behind, 27/01/2009.however, the posting date is proper and according to the billing date and that is again dated today-12/01/209. Now, the user wants to know why the difference exists between the accounting document date and the billing date. any idea? there are some user exits being used but I cant make out, neither the abaper. suggestions please.
    Regards,
    N.Raja Sekhar.

    Dear Raja Sekhar
Document date is nothing but the date on which that particular transaction has taken place.  But I dont know where you get the date as 27-01-2009.
It is a general practice that for exports billing document, there would be a Posting block and once the exporter receives the B/L, based on that date, the billing document would be released manually.  For this, there is an user exit to input the B/L number and date and release the billing document.
So here, what the end users normally does is that the B/L Date might be on 02-01-2009 but he would not have updated on the same date.  At a later date, say on 12-01-2009, he can input the B/L Date (in another words, it is Posting date) as 02-01-09 and execute the billing document.
If you see the accounting document here, the posting date would have been 02-01-2009 but the document date would be 12-01-09.
    thanks
    G. Lakshmipathi

The first point would be to change the following:
    LOOP AT IT_MARA.
SELECT SINGLE * FROM MAKT CLIENT SPECIFIED
    WHERE MANDT = SY-MANDT
    AND MATNR = IT_MARA-MATNR
    AND SPRAS = 'E'.
    IF SY-SUBRC = 0.
    IT_MATNR-MATNR = IT_MARA-MATNR.
    IT_MATNR-MAKTX = MAKT-MAKTX.
    IT_MATNR-BISMT = IT_MARA-BISMT. "Thanikai-17.05.2002
    ENDIF.
    APPEND IT_MATNR.
    CLEAR IT_MATNR.
    ENDLOOP.
I would sort IT_MARA by matnr then select for all entries into new table IT_matnr and only read when you are actuallygoing to use it for your final table.
This however will not make much difference to your problem. I suggest you put more of the code into subroutines and look at the se30 output as tyo which subroutines are actually taking most of the time. Please post the results and the subroutines which take the longest.

  • Need suggestion-abap+bi

    Dear gurus,
I need suggestion before learning new module. I did ABAP and having good experience. Now I want to update my skill please suggest me wat I should learn. I want to upgrade my skill only in technical side. Few of them suggested me BI but dont know how good it will be in US market.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Dave

    Hi Aasim,
Even the carrer growth in ABAP is very Good.
IN BW project, there is requirement of ABAPer. So if you are BW+ABAP, you will be getting paid more. Your value would be more.
Now, making a shift, even you want to change from ABAP to BW, you need to take some training. Because BW abap is a bit different thatn general ABAP.
The DW experience is not needed very much.but yes, its better to have knowledge in DW.
I'll suggest you to work for 6 months in ABAP and then take a training in BW. Because its more BW than ABAP in BW.
Hope you would have got some idea.
Please revert for any other questions.
    Thanks..

  • ABAP or SAP BW  please suggest on this

    Hi ALL,
I am new SAP environment i worked in Business objects earlier now i have an option to select ABAP or SAPBW .
Please can anyone suggest which one i need to prefer and why .
    Thanks & Regards
    Sameer Khan

    Sammer,
Both fields are good...enough carrer opportunity. But BW will suite you more becoz of BO. However, if you have inclination for Programming then go for ABAP.
A common belief that BW is more lucrative that ABAP, but the fact is you have to outsmart in whatever you do...ABAP or BW.
    hanks..

  • I have 3.4 years of ABAP experience. Planning to learn SAP BI and Move to BI. Kindly Suggest

    Hi Experts,
I have been working for almost 3 and half years on SAP ABAP. Now i am planning to Learn SAP BI/BW and move my carrier to SAP BI/BW Completely.
What would be the opportunities and carrier growth in the coming years for this combination. Please suggest.
I have read all the previous posts which were posted a year back about the same combination. But please suggest according to the present trend.
I will definitely consider your each and every suggestion of you as a priority one to my carrier growth.
    Thanks and Regards,
    V Shankar

    HI V
if you already know it's better opportunities then it sounds like you have already answered your question
if you are not familiar with the concept of big data or HANA I recommend you enter those terms in your search engine or look at SCN Front page and start reading
as far as how to retrain and transition that will really depend on your current employment situation. What would be a great combination is a mix of ABAP with HANA. Without going into further detail I think you will gain more insight by your own research
    regards

    Hi,
I have a query with regard to HR - ABAP.
I have a functional background (HR) but looking at the future career prospects in the long run I feel that I will require to know thetechnical part too.
Can someone suggest me whether I need to go for a special training in this regard or self learning will help consiering the fact the technical knowledge I have is jus 5%.
If self learning will do... can someone suggest from where I can get the relevant material for HR - ABAP

  • Knowledge sharing and suggestion needed on ABAP Web dynpro.. Kindly reply..

    Hi SAP experts,
I just want to put you all on my approach for one of the developments and needed some inputs from you great people.
First of all Thanks for taking your time.
I am on CRM 5.0 integrated to PCUI portal. I need to develop an ABAP Webdynpro which has to be intergrated to portal as an iView.
Currently there is a WDA1, which displays the Service Confirmation number with a link. Once the link is clicked I have to call a different WDA2.
The WDA2 has the following sections --
Section one - header details of Service conf-- all input fields
Section two - item details ( table with more than one record) - need to allow to add new items or delete items
Section three -- item level details of the item selected in section two - all input fields
Section four -- item table( with some data) - Here at runtime on a condition i have to display item table 1 or item table 2, dynamically i have to decide which table to display basd on Serive conf.
When I select a new record in Section two, section three and four should change based on the item i selected on sectoin two.
    My questions ---
    1. How can i pass the Service conf number from WDA1 to WDA2, how to get the Service conf in WDA2.
I m trying to use CALL METHOD l_portal->navigate_absolute, with URL and value. But i dont know how
to read this value in WDA2.
    2. I gone through this VERY GOOD Doc on creating subnodes.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/media/uuid/70d9d4b6-5c9e-2a10-dcb2-e396fddeb6e8
Can i acheive my task by this or do i need to create new context nodes for each section and then bind_table or bind_structure ?
    3. For section four, how can i at runtime based on one IF condition decide, which table( UI element with records ) to display on view ?
I hope this will help someone atleast on the business concept and WDA level, and with your valuable inputs I can clear my confusion on WDA.
Kindly take some time to give ur suggestions.
I appreciate you all, and thanks again.

  • At Craig's suggestion: Why Invoke PERL functionality from WD-ABAP?

    Craig -
This is response to your suggestion that I post my own reasons for thinking that it would be useful to be able to invoke PERL functionality from WD-ABAP.
Please note at the outset that these reasons are based on my own personal belief that the relatively new vertical sectors of bioinformatics/biomed could produce reasonably significant income for SAP in a reasonably short time if SAP decided to create application-level functionalities in these areas.
This belief is in turn based on a very significant new initiative which has been publicly announced by the university Medical Center recently voted "most-wired" (Vanderbilt) and equivalent initiatives at other university Medical Centers across the country.  (BTW, I've posted a meeting time (Tue 7pm) at Tech Ed for anyone who wants to learn more about these initiatives, the new vertical sectors they define, and how SAP could EASILY play in them.)
So, with this background established, assume that SAP does decide to play in the bioinformatic/biomed sector.
SAP will rapidly find that a lot of biomed is based on the kind of bioinformatics that essentially does pattern-analysis on two kinds of strings: polynucleotide strings (DNA, mRNA, tRNA, etc.) and polypeptide strings (mainly the amino acid strings that form the "primary structures" of protiens.)  For example, biomed will soon include the ID of "at risk" markers for all patients in a university medical center, indicating what diseases patients may be genetically at risk for due to SNP's and other abnormalities in their inherited DNA.
Now when such analysis is not done by running "canned" versions of well-developed programs such as the ubiqitious BLAST program for "aligning" polynucleotide or polypeptide sequences, it is done by programs written in languages that offer superb capabilities for pattern-searching and manipulation of strings, e.g. PERL.
Additionally, I know from personal experience and the experience of my SigOther that even data obtained from well-known canned programs must be further massaged by non-canned techniques that again are readily implementable in PERL and other similar languages.
Finally, a lot of bioinformatic/biomed applications require iterative batch execution of canned stat routines such as t-tests or normality tests, which can be conveniently done via calls from languages such as PERL to canned products such as STATA.
So assume SAP wants to develop a biomed application that has:
back-end data containing the usual kinds of info med centers need to know about patients, plus the new kinds of scientific info about patients that med centers are creating
a presentation component that displays these two kinds of data for query, further elaboration/refinement, and subsquent update.
For example, there will be times when a doctor will want to take scientific data on a patient from the back-end (e.g. portions of a patient's DNA), subject it to pattern-analysis of the type described above, and then store the results of the analysis as additional new scientific info in the back-end databases.
And SAP can readily provide the doctor with this capability if it allows PERL functionality to be invoked from WD/WD-ABAP components.  In some cases, the PERL will simply invoke industry-standard canned programs such as BLAST and wrap the results in a way friendly to SAP.  In other cases, the PERL may do the analysis itself.  In other cases, the PERL may invoke stat programs.  Etc, etc. etc.
The point is that there is a vast inventory of bioinformatic/biomed PERL code out there, and if SAP wants to get serious about playing in the bioinformatics/biomed sector, it will be much easier to talk to this inventory of programs rather than recreate it in JAVA or SAP inside SAP.
Anyway, please remember - this post was based on the  assumption that SAP may want to get serious about playing in the bioinformatic/biomed sector.
If not, then as Rosanne Rosanadanna used to say, "Never mind".

    Hi David,
Where it can be used :-
Anywhere that you can insert ABAP code to run, you can integrate Perl in the manor that I laid out.  The only requirements are the ability to run registered RFC programs, and to execute ABAP code including RFC calls (which is anywhere inside of an R/3 system basically).
    Comparison with other techniques :-
All communication from the ABAP stack with the J2EE stack is done via RFC - this is only faster than a registerd RFC Server if Fast RFC is used which means that the J2EE stack MUST reside on the same host as the R/3 instance.  Therefore there is no performance difference at that level and any performance differentiation is going to be in the programming language Perl vs Java, or payload encoding techniques (XML) at that level (not withstanding the consideration of development time).
There is also the HTTP Client communication facilities - with or without document encodings (the ICF + eg. SOAP).  Again - I'd take a long hard look at whether it is necessary to be encumbered with the data packet encoding/ecapsulation overhead.
    What you gain :-
Once you are in the "land of Perl" you have access to essentially any module you can find on CPAN, so any data access you require whether it be some kind of application server technology, or DB, can be fullfilled by whats available there (unless you need to roll your own?).  And lets not forget algorythm implemented in Perl or Perl XS extensions - probably very important in the medical/scientifc field.
SOA (IMO) is a big ugly 4 letter word.  At the end of the day, you have to look where your time and money is best spent, and whether you can achieve the desired results using Scripting Language Connector technology, or whether you feel compelled to go down a WS-* style route.
However - I would like to say this - IMO it is totally unecessary to wrap up system integration in multiple (expensive both in money, and performance considerations) layers if you are confident that you have good control over both ends of the communication streams.  I believe that when your main objective is to utilise large chunks of code written in another language (rather than reimplement it in something closer to SAPs core interests), or communicate with inhouse data sources/systems (I've done this for MySQL before), then this is definitely one such case that opens the door for using my outlined approach (in the article).
    Cheers,
    Piers Harding.
