HT1349 Why is my burned DVD CD file corrupt?

I burned a CD with a tv show into a DVD file from my iTunes library and when I try to play the burned CD i get the message that its corrupt. What did I do wrong or how do I make it work?

Not sure. Why are you trying to burn a video onto a CD? If it's a commercial TV show you are trying to copy we may not be able to discuss here. Please clarify what you are trying to do.

  • Why are my burned DVDs being ejected or recognized as "blank"?

As the subject heading suggests, I am having problems with my iMac's CD/DVD drive. Commercial DVDs are readily recognized. DVD-Rs that were burned using Popcorn or Disk Utility are either spat out or recognized as "Untitled DVD.fpbf". I have tried switching System Preferences for opening a video DVD with DVD Player to opening the DVDs with Popcorn, Toast, Handbrake, VLC Player, etc. I've even tried Patchburn. The DVDs are recognized on my PowerBook running Snow Leopard.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

  • Burning DVD files....

Can someone please answer this question.....
Which Roxio Toast app is compatible with my Macbook?
I need to be able to burn .dvd/.avi files For Later Viewing, Not For Re-Sale...
    Macbook OSX 10.4.11
    2GHz Intel 2 Duo

Hi - and what results you have using Toast? Did you ever used iDVD? I never used Toast but always iDVD, and pretty much every time I run into trouble playing burnt DVD - they skip, or freeze, stutter, etc. I tried all kinds of blank media, thinking that that could be a problem; I started to buy Verbatim with an extra protective layer; I burnt (in iDVD) the discs at 1x speed.... and - still no much of the difference - even if they play once or twice without interruption - the discs will pause, skip, or freeze, or stutter eventually...
WHAT TO DO, so the burnt DVDs will play smoothly?
Is the TOAST 9 or 10 any better at this point (than iDVD)???

  • One of my 2 Mac Books burns DVDs - how?

I bought my Macbook in 2006 and I'm able to burn DVDs (just files, not movies) in it. I tought all Mac Books did this, until my parents bought a new one in January 2007. Same computer, same system, and we never "pimped up" any of the computers. We use them just like they left the store. How come all Mac Books only read DVDs but don't burn them (they are just ejected, right?) and the older computer came from the store burning DVDs? I'd be happy if anyone could help!
    Thanks.

You don't order it customized. It comes stock with a dvd burner. There are three models of each MacBook line. Two white ones and a black. One white one has a combo drive this is the low end one. The second white one has a superdrive and burns dvds. You apparently have the mid tier model which has the burner. As I said it is not customized it comes that way.

  • Burned DVD won't work after DVD player 4.6.1

I made a DVD of my daughter's wedding two days ago and it played fine on my iMac G5. Yesterday I updated the DVD player with the DVD 4.6.1 update and now I can't get my DVD to show up on the desktop or play in the DVD player. Any thoughts?
    ds

I also trashed the iDVD plist to see if that will speed up my DVD burning.
Ain't gonna' happen. You should create a disk image and then burn DVDs.
    File/Save As Disc Image...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Disk Utility to burn the DVD.
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (not the .img, the one below) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. Your SuperDrive tray will open. Insert a recordable DVD. (DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and Tiger.
b Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD 5 project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

  • Why won't iDVD burn my .avi files... it used to?

i have files ending in .avi that i want to burn to a DVD, in order to watch them on television.
i throw them into the iDVD and the preview shows nothing but a blank screen.
iDVD used to burn my .avi files.
i have converted them to .mp4 / .mpg / .mov... but nothing seems to work.
sometimes, throwing a .mp4 file into iDVD nothing happens at all, or it will say unsupported / unrecognized file.
the only time it did work was when i used a program to convert a file to .mp4, but now it has a huge watermark across the picture.
why all of a sudden does it not work?

    Hi
If QuickTime-player opens Your .avi files then start Inspector (cmd+I) and read
    Video Format/Codec: nnnnnnnnnnn
    What does it read ?
What did an old .avi file that worked - read ?

  • Why will iDVD burn my images but then I can't playback the file?

I have searched and searched iDVD help for the past 3 days trying to find out why I can't retrieve my files after the disk has burned. It says that the files can not be retrieved! What am I doing wrong?

    Hi again
May be I misunderstod Your question.
What exactly are You trying to do ?
Go back to iMovie for further editing a material on a DVD disk ?
    Then You got trouble.
The way back isn't easy AND YOU WILL NOT get the same - original quality.
Why ? 1 hour of movie in iMovie (or on miniDV tabe) is about 13Gb
Your DVD disk can hold - if it is single layer - about 4.2 Gb
To get it to work lots of information is lost in coding mpeg2 and when
de-coding even more info is lost. = low quality
Easiest way to go back from DVD to iMovie is by my standard:
Connect a camera to Your DVD-player and record on a new miniDV tape.
Easy to understand way + best quality I've ever got
Minus is that it takes some time.
Hard way is to use a program that can de-code mpeg2 to streaming DV.
When this is done You will find that You got Your movie but no sound.
Then You have to de-mux the sound with eg. ddemuxer.
Programs You may be also would need to do it this way:
    - * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    - * Apple mpeg2 plugin (20$) + Streamclip (free)
    - * Cinematize >60$
    - * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    - * Toast6/7 allows converting to dv/import dvd, hit apple-k
Did I get Your question right this time ?
    Yours Bengt W

  • How do I burn a .mov file to DVD?

I need to burn an MPEG-2 video file saved as .mov to a DVD that will play in a regular DVD player.
I have tried opening iDVD and the selecting 'Create a New Project'. When I have selected a location for the project and the main window opens, I go to File > OneStep DVD from Movie...
My understanding is that when I import a movie file, it will burn it straight to the disc without any further options. It does this, however after a couple of minutes the DVD is ejected blank and iDVD says the burn has completed.
How can I solve this problem or is there another way to burn a .mov file to DVD?
    Thanks, Dan

A green screen in an indication that the movie is in a format not supported by iDVD.   It should be in one of these formats:  DV, high-definition video (HDV), MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-2 SD, MPEG-4 SD, MPEG-4 HD, and AVCHD.  (From SDMacUser's post in What input file formats does iDVD...: Apple Support Communities). The post has other requirements that need to be met.
    SD = standard definition.
Open your movie with QT Player and bring up the Info window for the movie.  It will have the format:
Another possible reason is the Energy Saving settings on the Mac.  Turn off energy saving and screen saver before starting the save as disk image or burn.
Other possible fixes can be found in this tipic: Green Screen with audio after Burning: Apple Support Communities

  • Why cant I burn my purchased music onto a new dvd?

    Hi,
I wanted to make a backup of the music I have purchased from the Music store. I have not burnt any backup CD’s or DVDs at all yet.
There are 134 songs with 697.3MB. (This doesnt mean much to me to be honest!) As this is too much for a CD I thought I would burn a DVD.
As per the ITs “help” instructions “to create a data CD or Burn DVD” I went into Itunes preferences and selected the advanced botton, then “Burning” header, then Disc Format and selected DVD and Preferred speed tab to 2x. I have also tried maximum speed.
The brand new DVD is a Panasonic DVD Ram 3X speed 4.7GB 120 mins rewritable.
All songs were checked and were in the “Purchased folder” I selected ‘burn disc’ from Itunes window and put the blank DVD in as requested...’checking media’ appears in the iTunes window.......
the DVD is continually ejected with no explanation as to why!
I have also “highlighted’ all of the songs and completed the same procedure as above with the same result.
I tried moving the selected playlist to a new folder with no joy again.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thx George UK

    SuperDrive: Ejects DVD-RAM Discs
The SuperDrive, included with some Power Mac G4 and iMac (Flat Panel) computers, does not read DVD-RAM discs.
    Symptom
The DVD drive ejects every DVD-RAM disc, but accepts DVD-ROM and DVD-R discs, which appear on the desktop without any issues.
    Products affected
Power Mac G4 (Digital Audio) with SuperDrive
Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver) with SuperDrive
Power Mac G4 (QuickSilver 2002) with SuperDrive
    iMac (Flat Panel) with SuperDrive
    Solution
The SuperDrive does not read DVD-RAM discs and will eject them. They will not appear on the desktop, nor will the Finder display an alert box or error message. For more information about the discs that are compatible with the SuperDrive, see article 58770 "CD-RW and SuperDrive: Specifications and Usage Information."
