have two old , but reliable nanos
i haven't synced either in two years or more
today i opened account # 5 my limit, sadly i've gotten rid of the previous 4 laptops without deleting them from my list
anywho, after i synced black ipod nano, i tried to sync white ipod nano, but it ays that one is synced with another library???
i've never had but one library on all four previous laptops. ?como?
Sometimes a computer glitch wil cause that problem. You just have to restore the iPod and resync.

Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
You can sync iphone/ipad to one and only one itunes library at a time. Syncing to another will indeed erase the iphone. -
IPod sync problem - wrong library but I only have one
trying to sync with either iPod touch or iPod classic. I'm told that both are synced with a "different" library and program wants to delete everything on iPod and replace with this library. but I have done a search and I only have one library on my computer. the library seems to be complete and up to date. Should I go ahead let it delete and replace? Sounds dangerous and drastic.
But my concern is that my ENTIRE library will then be placed on my Touch, where I now only have two playlists plus apps and contacts
So your ENTIRE library conatins more than what is in these two playlists?
If you want to sync only these two playlists...
Select the iPod in iTunes.
Click the Music tab.
Select *Sync music* and *Selected playlists* then tick only the playlists you want to sync.
Add or remove songs from these playlists to change what is on the iPod.
The terminology used by iTunes is very unclear to me.

It tells you it will erase your iPod and add what is in iTunes.
If everything will not fit, it will tell you. -

Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

After my PC crashed (MicroSoft blue screen of death), I had to re-format my hard drive, reinstall Windows 7, and ultimately re-install iTunes. I have over 7000 songs on my iPod and want to load them into iTunes, but iTunes tells me my iPod is synced with another library and wants to overwrite my data. How do I make this new version of iTunes accept all the info on my iPod into a new library? - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other music by using a third-party progtam like one of those discussed here
Copy music
- WHen everything is on your computr connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup. Do that by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music. -

Guys before you reply please please read why i have turned to the support/community as this is my last resort before you reply with the most general answers which i would have already tried and did not work.
Ok, so my old computer died on me a month ago and i had not backed up my ipod touch for a few months already.. so when my com died on me i was with quite an outdated OS. when i got my com back a few days ago, i straight away told myself to backup my ipod touch, so i did. when i synced with this new itunes and clicked cancel for "the ipod is synced with another itunes library" question. it loaded like a normal syncing would do. i left it alone..
a few mins later i checked my itunes and noticed the word "DELETING ------" and i'm like WTH!?! and straight away unplugged the cable. nearly 80% of my games were deleted! all save data and stuffs gone.. i dont know what happened so i searched online.
to cut it short i found out about authorizing accounts so i deauthorized "all itunes" things and authorized this current one..
it still shows me "the ipod is synced with another itunes library" and it tried to delete my games despite that.
someone help me please. i have like 3 games left that still has my high scores from my 50+ games i had previously.
oh and one more this. i have never jailbroked my itouch before and all games are legit-ly downloaded so thats about it. anything else you need to know please feel free to ask!
I sincerely thank you for helping me.I would move the backups to a safe place and let iTunes erase and restore the iPods. Then move the other backup to the correct location and then restore from the old backups. It may not work but you are no worse off. The backups are located here:
iTunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory. -

Can anyone help meSyncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your ipod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
All media content will be erased during the first sync, but you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the ipod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
