HT1766 How to transfer a backup to an iphone.
Hi! I bought an IPhone 5 and unfortunately it wont back to my older version of itunes. Luckily I have an old Iphone 3 that's compatible with my itunes and I backed up my contacts and such about a month ago. However, the number for this iphone 3 isnt the number or phone I had when I created the backup from a month ago. I just want access to any pictures I had up until a month ago. How do I put that back up onto my old iphone 3 just so I have my pictures and contacts. The backup is there ( I checked the general preferences--> devices), I just dont have the 4G phone that had all the pictures and contacts on it ( it finally ate the dirt and just stopped charging) Thanks so much for all your help! Hopefully I can figure it out.
When connecting a new iPhone to iTunes for the first time on a computer that has been used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer a compatible backup for the other iPhone or iOS device. Other than that, you must restore the iPhone with iTunes that you want to transfer the backup for another iPhone or iOS device to.

Connect the iPhone to your computer and select it on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which is Apps - if you select that tab then you should be able to select which of your apps to sync to the phone (assuming that the apps are compatible with the phone e.g. you have the relevant IOS version on it). If you have bought/downloaded apps on your phone that aren't on your computer's iTunes then you may want to copy them to your computer's iTunes first via File > Transfer Purchases

I can't figure out how to transfer my albums on my iphone to photo stream so that I can see them on my apple computer. It did not automatically sync.

But this is what you want basically.
Router, new Wireless N, firmware updated.
1: Two accounts, one admin, one guest Internet access. Random +30 plus character lenght passwords each preferred.
(guest password to max password length of any iDevices)
2: Encryption: WPA2 AES. No Ping. No remote access. No MAC filtering. Visible.
3: Guest access on devices and computers only. Passwords written down and stored.

If you get OpenDNS, you can log into their website for free and set parental controls on things like inappropriate sites for children. So whatever device is used on your network can't access a large portion of those sites (nothing is perfect) by most users who are not technical oriented.
What your doing now is running the bare bones unsecure router which can be used harmfully against you.
Even a Apple Airport router has to be very well secured. The defautl cd and out of the box setup is not a secure solution. -

I have an iphone 4 and downloaded my first movie (hd) onto my PC (windows 7) I have not been able to figure out how to transfer the move to my iphone. The movie is in a new tab called "rented" not under the "movie" tab. All of the support I have read talks about the movie being in the "movies" tab. I cannot use the "move" function or the "transfer" function because they are not available. Is this an issue because I just updated to the newest software?
In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi. -

iCloud is useful for a lot of things and backing up your iPhone's data is one of them. Included in the data and files that you can safely keep using iCloud are your contacts. The following instructions detail how to transfer contacts from iPhone to computer.
Step 1. On your iPhone, tap on Settings. On the "Settings" menu, select "iCloud". You will then be taken to the iCloud Settings.
Step 2. Enable the "Contacts" setting and should you be informed that you'll have to merge your contacts to iCloud, tap "Merge".
Step 3. Now on your computer, go to iCloud.com and login with your iCloud credentials.
Step 4. Once you're logged in, click on the Contacts icon to access your address book and all iCloud features for the contacts you've uploaded.
Step 5. In the address book, click on the cog icon at the lower-left portion, click "Select All", and "Export vCard" afterwards.
Step 6. iCloud will then give you a vCard that you can store on your computer. It contains all the contacts you've uploaded to iCloud using your iPhone. -

But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer. -
