It says, 'The iPad "My iPad" could not be updated. This device isn't eligible for the requested build." I don't get an error number. It's an iPad 2.
Have you tried following the troubleshooting for that error message on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694 ?

i'm trying to update to 4.3.4 but its giving me "iphone could not be updated this device isn't eligible for the requested build" . . . i dont know what going on . . anyone ?
SOLUTION FOR ALL.
This works. Thanks. The best way to do this is through the terminal. Just do the following commands in terminal:
Type sudo su
Press enter
Then enter your password and hit enter
Type vi /etc/hosts
Move your cursor with the down arrow to the line that has gs.apple.com without a # at the beginning of the line.
Move cursor to the beginning of that line.
Type i# then press the esc key.
Type :wq
Press enter
Type exit
Press enter
Now you can quit out of the terminal application. This likely is a problem caused by Tiny Umbrella denying itunes communicating with the apple servers. -

Can anyone help me in restoring my iPhone .
1) I updated my iPhone to iOS6 wirelessly and for some reason it stucked in Recovery Mode loop.
2) I tried everything to came out of Recovery Mode loop but nothing worked.
3) I don't have any backup so now im just trying to Restore/Update(i know i'll loose all my data ) As i just want my phone to work.
4) The latest iOS6 image is downloaded with iTunes version is 10.7.
5) But every time i try to restore it just stucks with the message."The iphone could not be restored.This device isn't eligible for the requested build."
Any solution ?were you running a beta version of the software before updating?

sounds like your phone was jailbroken. If this is the case, you're hosed.

This fixed my problem. For the last year I could not update after iOS 4 was released, restore or restore from a back up on my iMac model from mid 2007 with intel. The only way around this problem was to use my old HP laptop to use my Apple products. After several phone calls to Apple support, nobody at Apple could figure this out. I was told I would have to pay Apple for the support because my iMac was not under warranty. I have searched the web on and off to try several different solutions and all except this one have failed. If others have found this, I must have missed it in the forums. I am only posting this to help anyone that has had this issue.Downgrading the iOS is not supported. For anyone else who may find this thread and has the same problem in the future, here's what I did.

In case that link stops working, what I did was I exited iTunes, and then manually edited my hosts. The process is this:
Go to the hosts file. For Mac OS X this is located at: /etc/hosts or /private/etc/hosts and in Windows it is located at: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Open the hosts file with Administrative privileges so that changes can be made and saved (eg: sudo nano /etc/hosts)
Look for a line that resembles something like this:
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
Put a # in front of that to comment it out, making it now look like this:
# 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
Save the hosts file (control + O)
Flush DNS cache and restart iTunes
Essentially, anything with a gs.apple.com address, put a # and a space in front of it. Then, AFTER that, I flushed my DNS cache. The article says to do that before, but I found doing it after manually editing the hosts was the only way to get it to work. Here's how:
Quit out of iTunes and open the Terminal in OS X Lion, then type:
dscacheutil -flushcache
Then you should be good to go. Hope this takes you less time to fix than it did for me. Cheers! -

I adquired yesterday the appleTv 2g. It comes with the 4.2.1 (2100) firmware. I would like o update it to the ios 5. But I press "restore" button on itunes, it downloaded the 4.4.1 and it keep saying: "This device isn't eligible for the requested build".
I don't know what's happening. Can anybody help me?

If they are superceded or revoked the digital signature can be unobtainable.
Many have posted issues with 4.4 and 4.4.1 and at least one site suggests these firmwares have been revoked pending bug fixes.
I have not tried to update yet - when issues are posted I prefer to stick with what I've got.
You may be able to update to 4.3 via itunes, the last 'good' version. -
