HT201364 Can I install Marvericks on a 2007 MacPro Tower running 10.7.5?

I'm trying to update the OS on my 2007 MacPro Tower to Marvericks. I'm running 10.7.5, but I can't seem to get the App Store to allow me to download Marvericks. Any suggestions?

No. Mavericks can only be installed on 2008 Mac Pros or later.

how can i install icloud to my mac which is running on Mac OS X version 10.6.8 ?

You must first upgrade to 10.7.5 or later.
Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Lion, or Mountain Lion installed. Purchase and download Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
         OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mavericks, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • I can't install pages 09 on a recent iMac running 10.9.1.

I can't install pages 09 on a recent iMac running 10.9.1. I am using a retail dvd - I get the error message that the "installer is damaged".
    Any suggestions? THANKS

Open your System Preferences and go to "Security & Privacy". In the General tab set "Allow apps downloaded from:" to Anywhere. (You may have to click the lock and enter your administrator password first before you can make this change).
Now try the installer again. Make sure you change the setting back to it's previous setting when you are done and check the App Store for any updates to your iWork apps before you start using it.

  • HT201364 Can we install os x Mavericks on a quad-core intel Xeon ?

    Hello there,
Unfortunately I can not install os x Mavericks. I would wonder if it's due to my computer's age. My processor is 2 * 3 ghz quad-core intel Xeon, 8 GB of Memory!
    Thank you.
    Best wishes,
    Ed

Need to know the Model Identifier or when it was manufactured.
It needs to have been released in Early 2008 or newer. Model Identifier 3,1 or greater.
Yours appears to be the original Mac Pro. It doesn't have the necessary hardware (64-bit EFI) to run Mountain Lion or Mavericks.

  • I can't install on uninstall iTunes on my laptop; running Windows XP.  I've tried all the steps in Apple Support as well as Windows support.  Can anyone help?  I fet the error "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable

I can't install or uninstall iTunes on my laptop.  I've followed all the steps on Apple Support as well as Microsoft support.  I get the error "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Pick an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi".  This has been going on for a couple of weeks now and I'm very frustrated.  From what I can see, I'm not the only one with this problem, but I have yet to see anyone post a solution that works.  Microsoft wants to charge me $99 to troubleshoot it for me and Apple will charge $20.  I think both are ridiculous as this is obviously not "operator error".

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Can I install Leopard on an external drive to run my computer?

Since it seems my hard drive has totally bit the dust, can I install Leopard on the external drive I use for Time Machine, and run my desktop from that drive? Could I run it from an external drive totally dedicated to Leopard? I am buying a new desktop soon, but I need info off of this machine. Can I plug in my Time Machine drive to my laptop and be able to use it without losing data?

    Thanks so much.
    Youa re welcome!
I figured I would have to use a second drive. At least when I get my new desktop I will have a drive for Time Machine for both desktop and laptop.
If you really plan to keep the laptop around after you get your desktop, I would recommend replacing its internal hard drive. While running your laptop off an external is possible, it should be considered a stopgap measure. i wouldn't do it on a permanent basis. For one, as you'll find out, it's quite a bit slower than when using the internal drive.

  • Can i install 10.4 on my iMac G5 running 10.5?

The question is if i can partition my HD and install 10.4 on it while still having 10.5 on there. I want to be able to use both OS's at different times.

    I'm using a Tiger© DVD that i bought.
A 1.83GHz iMac has an Intel processor, and with the exception of the Mac OS X Server Universal Binary, no retail Mac OS X 10.4 disk will work on it. If the computer's original disks are Mac OS X 10.4 ones, use them. If not, you can't.

Lame... So basically i can't install 10.4 on it unless i had retail discs for it?

  • Can i install 10gR2 on AIX while 10gR1 db running?

    Hello,
Can I install 10gR2 on a machine that has 10gR1 running, on AIX, without bringing down the 10gR1 instance? I'm concerned about whether the rootpre.sh script will cause any problems while the other database is up.
    Thanks.

Should not be a problem as long as you intstall 10gR2 into a seperate directory.
