HT204022 How do I delete photos on my phone that were synced in from iPhoto? I do not want these photos on my phone!

This is what the website says to do:
On an iOS 7 device
In the Photos app, tap Shared at the bottom of the screen, then tap Streams at the top of the screen.
Tap the shared stream you want to remove, tap People, then tap Unsubscribe (if you’re a subscriber) or Delete Photo Stream (if you’re the owner).
You can also tap Shared, tap Edit, tap the Remove button on the left side of the shared stream you want to remove, then tap Unsubscribe (if you’re a subscriber) or Delete (if you’re the owner).
However, when I go into my photos app, there is nothing that says "shared" at the bottom of the screen.

unsync via itunes
plug device into computer - open itunes- click name of device click photos- uncheck all photos you want to remove- sync or apply at bottom
Peace, Clyde

How do you delete pictures on your iphone that were downloaded from your computer or memory card?

There is NO other way to get photos off your phone, that were synced to your phone, other than through the iTunes sync process. Just make sure there are no checks, in any boxes, for any photos, that you do not want on your phone.

I am after some advice on how to access photos on an iPad that were synced from a now failed laptop? The question stems from a need to return my current iPad having just taken delivery of a new unit. Thanks

If you have a dropbox account, there's a free app (probably more) that syncs photos to your dropbox account - picbox.
There's also PhotoSync that syncs photos to/from a number of different services and devices.

I cannot view/sync albums from iPhoto on my iPhone whilst iCloud photo library (beta) is on. Why? and is there a way of doing it. It is especially frustrating given I have subscribed to more space yet I have to turn it off to view!

I found the answer in another discussion group, so I have just erased everything through settings on my new iphone and in Backups on itunes, I have clicked on restore back up. So it appears to be working.

  • Why can't I delete videos off my iphone that got sync'd from my mac?

Somehow my iphone grabbed a bunch of videos (about 30 mins worth) from my Mac. I cannot delete these photos from my iphone5. I select them and the blue trashcan turns grey. I have the same issue with any photos it has grabbed from my Mac.
I cannot sync the phone to my itunes anymore because there isn't enough space w/ these videos. I have deleted all the photos I can from my iphone, but the photos app is still taking up 7GB!
Please help this makes no sense to me.

    Hi JRHarvey,
The only way to remove photos and videos sync'd from your Mac is to "un-sync" them. Hook up the device to iTunes, click on the Photos tab, uncheck the videos you no longer want on the device, and sync.

Any idea why  they cannot be deleted straight from the iphone?

Because this is not how it works. Never has been.
You delete them the same way you put them there.  The sync process.
    Deselect them and sync.
The iphone is not a storage device.  It simply mirrors the selected content of your comptuer.

  • How do I delete photos on my iPhone that were transferred from iPhoto to my phone?

I recently transfered most of my photos from my iphone to iphoto on my macbook. A couple of days later I transfered some of them back onto my iphone, but now when i look at them on my iphone there is no way to delete them there. Ive tried everything but nothing works. I simply cannot delete photos on my iphone that were transfered there from iphoto.
I thought apple was supposed to make things easier, but apparently not.

Correct. You need to Un-sync them using your Computer.
Basically do the opposite of what you did to get them on your Device.

  • How do I delete a song on my phone that has been downloaded from iCloud?

I listened to a few songs on my phone that were showing up from iCloud. However, it seems now that these songs have been downloaded into my library, though some of them I do not want there because they will play when I have my phone on shuffle.
I have gone to settings and turned off "Show all music" and on my computer, I've also turned of homesharing. I can swipe left to delete songs that I have put on my phone from iTunes library on my computer, but the songs that I listened to on iCloud will not delete, nothing happens when I swipe left. How do I get rid of them?

Go to the song list in the Music app, swipe across the title and tap Delete.  It will be replaced by an iCloud download symbol.  You can't delete this as it is a permanent record of your previous purchase.  However, if you don't want to see it, you can hide them using iTunes on your computer, as explained here: iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.

If someone steals my iPhone and deletes all pictures, that will sync to my Mac. So then all my photos are lost! How do I safeguard against this?

If your phone (plus syncing) is the only place you keep your pictures you are asking for trouble, theft or not. Back up onto an external hard disk which is only mounted when you need it, then nothing external can erase them. Then make use of Apple's facilities for protecting your phone:

    Hi QuisB123,
If you are having an issue with reclaiming free space after deleting photos from your iPhone, use the steps in this article to assist -
If you get a "Not enough free space" alert on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    Specifically -
Orphaned files might remain on your iOS device if it's physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, you might see a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device in the Capacity indicator in iTunes. Try these steps:
Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 5.
Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device:
Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes. If you see the "Not enough free space" alert, continue to step 6.
    Restore using iTunes.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Brett L
