Report a lost or stolen Apple product

call your local law enforcement.  Apple doesn't accept lost/stolen device reports.

    How do I report it
    <Subject Edited by Host>

Report it to the police along with your serial number.  You can find the serial number on the box it came in or in your support profile (https://supportprofile.apple.com).  Or, if you ever synced it with iTunes, you can find the serial number by doing the following:
    Launch iTunes on your computer.
Hold down your Control key, then on the menu bar in iTunes click iTunes>About iTunes (Mac) or Help>About iTunes (PC).
Any previously synced devices will scroll in a pop-up window; press the space bar to stop scrolling so you can write down the serial number.

  • Report a lost or stolen iPod Touch

I need to report my iPod Touch 4G either lost or stolen. I cant find it anywhere but if its stolen i want to know so i would like to report as both.
My iPod is my life line and i would really love if you could help me.
    Thank you,
    Dara Chamberlain

Dara, I'm sorry to hear your iPod Touch is gone, but there is no such place to report a loss to Apple. If you believe it was stolen the only place to record such theft is with your local law enforcement.
Its serial number can be retrieved by logging in to https://supportprofile.apple.com/ with your Apple ID - same one you used to log in here.

  • Do iCloud can trace my lost phone beside Apple  product.

Do iCloud can trace my lost phone beside Apple products.

iCloud can only track Apple computers, iPhones and iPads, and then only when they have 'Find My ....' enabled, are switched on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network. It cannot track devices from any other manufacturer.
I have not heard of any non-Apple device which provides tracking, but of course that doesn't necessarily mean that none exist: you would have to take this up with the manufacturers of these devices.

  • Why do Apple not register the serial numbers of stolen Apple Products?

My 3 month old 4gb iPod Nano was stolen today at the airport
As there is a small possibility of someone contacting Apple for support with a stolen product and according to http://www.stolenipods.com "Apple's iTunes software records the serial number of the last connected iPod",
so why do Apple not register the serial number of stolen products?
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

If Apple do not regsiter serial numbers why do
they ask for it in every form of support e.g. email,
phone calls etc. - to waste time or to enter it in
    their customer records?
Read Chris' post again, please. They DO record
serial numbers when you register your iPod for
    repair/service/warranty purposes.
They DO NOT release this information to anyone.
HP are not the Police either!!
HP is also not Apple. HP might have different
    policies.
If you've filed your police report... then you've
done the best you can already.
We understand you are bitter... but please do not
take your anger out on Apple or anyone on these
forums. It is not Apple's responsibility to track
    down lost or stolen goods.

I disagree. I feel that if the technology and systems are already in place and easily implemented, Apple have a responsiblility to their CUSTOMERS, many of whom are extremely loyal to the brand, to faciliate the locating of registered (and not inexpensive)products. Or, at the very least discouraging the theft of products that can be traced.

  • Stolen Apple Products

    Hello,
I lost a number of apple products in an armed robbery.  (Iphone4, ordinary Iphone, Ipad2 and Mac Book).  I have serial numbers for Iphone4 and Ipad, but I cannot yet locate the numbers for MAC and Iphone 3G
Is it possible for Aple to block these rodcuts from being used by the thieves or recognise the products if they are presented to Apple for registration?
Can the GPS in these machines be able to track where the gadgets are located geographically?
    Will apprecaite your collective wisdom.
    John

Sorry to hear about the loss, but no, Apple cannot block the use of any of those devices and, in absense of a request directly from an authorized law enforcement agency, cannot report registration attempts. Your cell carrier may be able to block the IMEI for the iPhones; you'd have to ask the carrier.
As to tracking the devices, if you set up the Find My iPhone/iPod/iPad service prior to the theft, then there is a chance that the devices can be tracked, though it depends on a number of factors (the device is turned on, connected to either the 3G or a WiFi network, and has not had the service disabled or the device been completely restored).  If you did not set up the Find service, then there is no way to track it. There is at this time no way to track a MacBook unless you installed third-party tracking software in it.
    Regards.
P.S. This forum is for questions about QuickTime. Just so you know.

  • Any tips on finding a stolen apple product?

On Thursday somebody stole my iPod and I realized within five minutes and I don't know how to find it. All of my friends spammed it but nobody is responding. I'm pretty sure it had full charge when it got stolen but on the find my iPhone app it's offline every time that I look at it. I told my schools security guard but he couldn't see my backpack on the security cameras. I spent three years saving up for this and I'm really worried that someone just took it and trashed it. My friends said that they saw a kid bend down near my backpack but they didn't think anything of it. When I asked him he sat listening to music and didn't pay much attention. The only thing I can think of is to make fliers. Please Help :)

You are seeing the biggest "issue" with the Find My system...the device must be turned on and connected to the internet.  Anyone knowledgable will take it somewhere that it cannot connect to the internet before powering up...but if the user has properly implemented the iCloud, Find My feature it is still a locked device.
The user (you) can login to iCloud and send a disable signal, which still needs the device to connect to the internet, but if it does, it the disables itself.

What To Do If Your iDevice or Computer Is Lost Or Stolen

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:

This is what you can do:
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
If the thief was able to turn off Find My iPhone, then your password must have been easily guessable (or the thief knows you) and you will not be able to find your iPhone.  Otherwise, click the "Find My iPhone Overview" from the above article for more information.

  • Lost or stolen IpodTouch4G HELP

I lost my Ipod touch 4G and I know for sure its in the returaunt. When i got in the car I felt my pockets and I was like oh no my Ipod. I whent back in to look for it and wasnt there. My ipod isnt connected to any wfi. Anything i should try to do? Or give me suggestions.

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
