HT3209 HD MOVIES ITUNES

If i download an HD movie on my iPhone 4 will it download in HD on my computer as well? On the iTunes page on my iPhone it says that an SD version will be available for my computer but i would want it in HD on my computer as well.

You can download the HD version on the computer by going to the purchased tab in iTunes. As long as the movie states that it will be availeble in the cloud after purchase, you can download it again on the computer. If not, you will have to sync it to your computer. You will be able to keep it on both devices.

  • HT3209 1080p Movie iTunes audio format

Thru apple tv, For recent 1080p movies is the audio being used supposed to be the high resolution bluray audio formats? The same that comes with bluray? Or does Apple TV only support Dolby digital audio passing thru. I'm using hdmi to home theater receiver.

And thirdly, of the ones that did transfer to my ipod, some are fine without any problems. But with others the video works okay but there is no audio. How do I fix that?
Quicktime or Quicktime Pro (both of which iTunes uses) does not convert "muxed" ( muxed means multiplexed where the audio and video are stored on the same track) video files properly. It only plays the video and not the audio.
See:iPod plays video but not audio.
You need a 3rd party converter to convert the file with both audio and video.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).

  • How can I move iTunes music folder to another drive?

I have iTunes version 7.1 running on a notebook with Windows Vista. My iTunes music folder is becoming too large for the C; drive and I am having problems successfully moving it to the D: drive.
I know the folder is in the D: drive because I can see it there. I have followed guidance on how to link it to iTunes: Edit / Preferences / Advanced / General / Change (choosing iTunes music folder on the D: drive) / OK. I have also ticked the "Keep iTunes Music folder organised" box, as well as the "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" box. Nevertheless, when I open iTunes my music does not appear in the library.
    What am I doing wrong?

Firstly there is more than one kind of iTunes Library file:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93732
Secondly you should consolidate your library:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesMac/7.3/en/670x.html
The following link will give you the instructions to move iTunes to an EHD. These instructions need to be followed EXACTLY.
The 2 metadata files within the main iTunes folder must stay on the main drive of your system as that is their "home", they can't be moved.

  • How to move itunes media to external drive

I'm running iTunes for Windows 10.6.3.25 and have 3000+ songs in the library. I'd like to move the music files to an external hard drive, without losing the dates added, plays, genres or the directory structure. I've already made a copy of all the folders and music files to my external drive (I've called it M: for Music), but now I need to tell iTunes to look there for the music and not at my laptop's D-drive. Changing the iTunes media folder in the Edit-Preferences-Advanced tab doesn't seem to have any effect on the existing songs.
Anyone out there with tips or advice?
    Thanks
    H-tac

  • How do I move iTunes from a dead computer?

My iTunes currently resides on a dead computer (hard drive failure). How do I move iTunes to my laptop PC (Vista) without losing all of my music/videos (on iPod) or apps (iPhone)?

Don't think you can get anything from your Dead computer.
Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the same music on your new PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music/videos, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • How do I move iTunes music content from one computer to another?

I need to move iTunes content from an older MacBook, which serves as the music source for our audio system, to a new Mac mini, which will now do the same.
I know to move the folder in the music folder but I would like to make certain the playlists are moved in conjunction with the move so I don't have to recreate the playlists on the new mini.
I can't find any information on how to do this in the faqs, in the Take Control books, or the latest system manuals.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • How do I move iTunes and content from one PC to another?

I am swapping computers and wondered if it was possible for me to move my iTunes and all the content to a new computer?
**apologies, as soon as i posted this i realised i had done it in the wrong area**

You should post in the itunes forum.
You can click support at the top of the page and type "Move itunes library" or similar in the search bar.
Since you make no mention of your computers operating system, I don't know what to suggest.
You can use your backup, migration assistant, external drive, flash drive, dvd, cd's, etc.

  • How do I move itunes to an external drive and use from there

Mid July 2010 Mini running 10.9.4, 320 gig HD, about 95 gigs left on drive and I need to add bootcamp/windows7 which will need about 90 gigs, maybe a little less for what I need to do with win7. Next problem will be figuring out how to make bootcamp work. Like how do I make a ISO out of a dmg? That's for another post. Excuse me.
What do I move to an external drive? The media folder? Do I move iTunes? Seems to me iTunes needs to be on the MacHD and it pulls media from the drive to be rendered or played. Do I drag and drop? From where? Why doesn't Apple have simple easy to understand certified answers to issues ordinary people have? Something about once "it" is moved, do you restart and then I think hold control down while starting iTunes? What about iTunes Match? Should that be off? If it is off during the change over and then after restating Match will it matter that now the media is all in a different location? Absolutely at a loss.
Can someone please shed light on this?
    thanks,
    tom

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
If this is to a new computer and you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

Hi I followed instructions to copy/move iTunes music to a new PC. I can see albums listed in the library but SYNCH will not put any music on my new iPod.

Take a look here; it should help:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
Though it refers to items purchased from the iTunes Store, it applies to all your iTunes content. And if you happen to also own an iPod:
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
Once you have the tracks on some removable medium, you can mount that on your new computer and then just drag the content to the iTunes window. Make sure that the option to "copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" is set in the iTunes -> Advanced -> General preferences before you do. Alternatively, you can use the Add To Library command and select each track (or folder of tracks).
If you won't be using that Windows system once you move the content, don't forget to deauthorize the system from your iTunes Store account before you dispose of the computer.
    Regards.
