HT4437 Using Mac pro OSX Lion and new purchase of Apple TV - can not see Airplay status icon and can therefore not mirror - Apple TV is seeing router as is the Mac !??

Have purchased Apple TV. Set up was OK (saw the wifi router and finalised with getting into itunes - but only purchased items)
Want to use the Apple TV to view my mac pro screen to use itunes (selection of ANY of my songs) and to display images from my photo folders (mirroring)
Can not see the 'airplay' icon!!!!??

In th App Store menu click on "Store" and "View My Account"
Under the "iTunes in the Cloud" section of the new window that appears there were 2 "Hidden Purchases".
Click on "View Hidden Purchases" and then click on "Unhide" on OS X Lion (assuming it is there - mine was).
It will now re-appear in your puchases section and you can re-download and install if necessary.

Looking for grey desktop wall paper at the start of MacBook Pro OSX Lion

I really like the grey wall paper with light texture... the one when you start up MacBook Pro OS Lion and you log in. I'm wondering if anyone know where the file is hiding in computer or anywhere on web to download? I wanna set it as my desktop. It's really easy on the eyes and really clean look.

I got a new Mac Pro with Lion and can't install FCP that worked fine in SL. Is it not compatible? Is it really a PowerPC program??? I'm a videographer and rely on this software and to spend $300 to continue to use it after spending a lot more for this software 4 years ago! Tell me this is not the case and there is a solution to installing FCP.

How to run FCP 6 (FCS 2) under Lion.
The installer for FCP 6 (FCS 2) is a PPC app. The Programs themselves are Intel. If your trying to install FCP 6 (FCS 2) this work-around will work...
First you need to install Rosetta from your Snow Leopard OS installation disc:

After doing that you can install FCP 6 (FCS 2). Remember, after installing FCP 6 (FCS 2) you need to apply the updates. This has been discuss many times in the Final Cut Studio forum.

If you just do a normal time machine backup on your macbook pro and then plug that harddrive into your new air; you should be able to just use migration assistant to transfer all your files. You wouldnt need to upgrade to mountain lion on your macbook pro.

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor. This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow. What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer. The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".
Have you read the User Manual chapter on printing?

As long as you don't erase the drive, it won't touch anything except known incompatible programs.

Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.

try exporting your iTunes libary from the old computer to the new one

Over the last few days, this issue has been driving me up the wall too!
I downloaded Lion OS a few months ago, but it was only until a few days ago did i attempt to logon to Hotmail to check my account & send an email with an attachment.
Normally i use the MAC Mail app, which is synchronised to my hotmail account.
Anyway, I'm not sure whether the Lion OS is the root cause of the issue, however after much digging around on various forums - the issue for me was resolved by downloading the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight 5 (www.microsoft.com/silverlight). Its a free download....

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
