No, you shouldn't, you should still make a back up anyway.

  • QUESTION - I have just purchased a mac and get my contacts from my iphone 4 onto iCloud.  In settings groups all my contacts fall under hotmail. HELP

I have just purchased a mac and get my contacts from my iphone 4 onto iCloud.  In settings>groups>all my contacts fall under hotmail. HELPQuestion

Do you have iCloud configured on the iPhone and on the MacBook Air? If not, you'll want to do that for seamless transferring of contacts between the two devices. If you have an iCloud account already, set it up on the phone first. If you do not have an iCloud account I'd recommend signing up for one on the computer first as it's easier to navigate the setup screens. Once iCloud is setup on both machines the contacts will automatically sync (faster if the iPhone is on wireless).
Regarding email, you'll need to ensure the email on the iPhone is configured for IMAP/Exchange. You'll then want to configure that same account in Apple Mail (or whatever email program you intend to use on the MacBook Air).

how do I get all contacts from my iphone 4 to icloud? I've just got some of them.

All you have to do is enable iCloud on your phone and turn notes on.  They should automatically appear on your phone.

Company Exchange account? If so, this is the way most employers want things.

  • How could I export my contacts on my iPhone to my iCloud account ?

How could I export my contacts on my iPhone to my iCloud account ?
Because I want to manage (group) my contacts and then import my contacts into my iPhone again.
Furthermore , I want to export my contacts to MicroSoft Outlook 2010.

I think you have a couple of options.  You can bluetooth it or export from an account.
Here is a link that may help you.  I think your phone has its own tutorial section on Verizon Support Knowledge Base.
    Try here

Some advice is to save those contacts to a gmail account instead to the Backup Assistant account.  I read some other users were having problems with the Backup Assistant account deleting all contacts on their phone.

  • Empty address book on iMac, will syncing loose them on the iPhone too?

My mom called me last night saying that her address book on her iMac is now empty. I don't know what she did to have that happen. My question is if she syncs her iPhone, which has all of her contacts, will the syncing delete all of her contacts on the iPhone, or will it add all of her phone contacts back into her address book on the iMac? I would hate to have her sync the phone, and then loose all of her contacts in both locations. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There is the possibility this data on the iPhone will be lost during the sync process which is why a backup of this data on your computer should be maintained.
The Address Book application includes a quick and easy backup option. The backup file takes up very little hard drive space and only needs to be updated prior to and after making significant changes.
That being said, make sure there is at least one entry entered and available in the Address Book application on her Mac before syncing but there is still a chance the contact information on her iPhone will be lost.

  • What all information will i loose if I sync iPhone with another computer?

    Hey,
Just wanted to understand what all information will i loose if i sync my iphone with another computer?
will i loose my contacts and messages?
    Thanks
    Cheers
    Divesh

Syncing your iPhone with iTunes on another computer will not erase all data on your iPhone. SMS/MMS will not be touched, photos/video in your iPhone's Camera Roll, the same for notes, email accounts, and iPhone settings.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced or manually managed with an iTunes library on a single computer only, and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will happen.
You can sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications on multiple computers.
You can transfer iTunes content and photos from one computer along with syncing contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks with the supported applications.
When connecting your iPhone to iTunes on another computer, you will be provided a warning message that your iPhone has been synced with iTunes on another computer. If you don't select to transfer any iTunes content or photos from another computer, no iTunes content and photos that were transferred from a different computer will be erased from your iPhone. If you select to sync contacts, calendar events, and Safari bookmarks only with the supported applications on another computer, only this data will be touched on your iPhone.

  • If i reset my phone will i loose contacts

if i reset my phone will i loose all my contacts?

It really depends what you mean with reset.
    Factory Restore?
    Updating your iOS?
    Restarting your iPhone?
    Factory Restore:
If you back your files, no.
    Updating your iOS?
    Backup, and everything is stored.
    Restarting your iPhone?
Let me ask you a question, you restart your PC, did you lose any of your files?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

    Hello there, margevanzyl.
The following Knowledge Base Article proves to be a great resource on how to recover iCloud contacts to your iOS device:

  • Ipad contacts are not all moving to icloud

I looked at my contacts on iCloud and noticed that there are only a small fraction of what I have on my iPad.
It says the last backup was recently and that it iCloud is turned on.
Any ideas on how I can get all of my contacts on my iPad into the iCloud?

    Hello hayleyearnold,
It sounds like you are trying to sync your contacts and notes with iCloud so that they show up on your other devices and iCloud.com.  I found some articles that might help with this.
I recommend looking at the section titled "Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts update or setup issues with iOS devices" in the following article:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting iCloud Contacts
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3998
For the issue you are experiencing with Notes, I recommend reviewing the following article:

  • My MacBook Pro will not sync contact to my Iphone 5 or my Ipad.

It used to work, but it has stopped. I took the whole mess into an Apple store and they couldn't figure it out either. Any ideas?

Then you may have to try manually resetting the syncservices folder by following Julian Write's post (from https://discussions.apple.com/message/9274781#9274781):
Ok, as you can't reset SyncServices in the "normal" way, you'll have to resort to the "other" way:
Although it's not advised to do so in normal circumstances, you'll need to manually delete the SyncServices folder.
Before doing so, you MUST make a backup of both your Contacts and Calendars:
In Address Book, choose *Export > Address Book Archive...* from the File menu.
In iCal, choose *Back up iCal...* from the File menu.
Then, make a backup of the SyncServices folder located at:
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
By backing everything up first, you don't risk losing anything.
Finally delete the aforementioned SyncServices folder and restart the Mac. This will force Mac OS X to recreate the SyncServices folder, and hopefully fix your problem.
I believe in Snow Leopard you can back up your calendar in File>Export>iCal Archive rather than File>Back up iCal as posted above.
