HT4972 How to Backup iPad2 in Business Environment?

Hi Everyone!
I have a few question about backing up/Updating the iPad2. We have a few people at work that the job has provided them with ipads. We have already set up the ipads for the users, but I am a little fuzzy on how to make sure all data is backed up and about installing updates.
1st question:  When attaching the ipad to itunes and right clicking the device and then selecting Backup, does this back up all that is on the ipad; music, apps, pics and ect? Is there a way to back up documents and settings within apps, such as notes saved in certain notepad apps?
2nd: What is the best way to backup everything for a user? I want to monthly do a backup for the users and also backup the backup on itunes to a folder on a server on our network.
Basically, I just want to get any advice/info from someone who may know the best way to back up all data on the ipad incase a users ipad decides to die or if needed for after updating a device.

This really depends on how you are managing the devices insofar as how much control you are giving the users is concerned. If they all have their own apple id and their own computer with their own itunes account and they have Apple computers you can have them back up to itunes and have time machine back up the computer.  You could also set the tablets to back up  automatically  to iCloud with the users apple id and not use itunes at all. There are too many unknowns about your environment to offer specific advice.

    We have round about 25 Macs in our office.
    Nobody of our users have an AppleAccount or an Apple-ID.
    Not every Mac have an internet connection.
    Nobody own a credit card from the company.
    Okay, I have an Apple-ID but only for my own personal usage combined with my own personal and private credit card. But I don't want to pay the company bills with my credit card. Can I create an Apple Account for business usage without having a credit card from the company? Like Amazon, where we have a business account and where we pay our bills by direct debit. This works fine, is there a possibility to pay in AppStore by direct debit?
    Next problem is that most of our Macs doesn't have an Internet connection. We are working for some government agencies and therefore we have strong limitations. How can we install software on these machines? Is it possible to download software on my Mac (with Internet connection), with the AppleAccount I addressed in the point above and put this installer on one of these machines?
    If this is possible, how can I install a software on more of these machines without an Internet connection? How will the system verify if the licence is still valid and not registered by another machine?
    For example we need Xcode on every machine and I download Xcode from Apples AppStore, do I have to download it as often as I need the software or only download it one time, what is useful because otherwise we would wasting bandwidth. What I've to do in such a case? Pay 10 times, download only one time and install it 10 times? And maybe I will get it for free because of my Apple Developers account, how can I pay with my business account for the others? If it is free, I've no other possibilities.
    Another example, we are downloading a Lion Installer for multiple machines, how does the target system (without Internet connection) verify that the target hardware originally was shipped with Lion (because reinstalling the operating system for example) and doesn't need a bought licence? Otherwise the opposite scenario is, we want to install Lion on a machine where we have to buy a licence. How can I respect this differences when I have only one "master administration machine" who is allowed to download and buy software?
    Can I use a Mac in future without an Internet connection?
    Maybe someone can bring some light into this dark and cold prospect.

    At the moment there is now way you can get Volume Licensing for Mac OS X outside US (at least none that I've been able to find).
    This subject is also discussed HERE and, until now, no user or Apple official has been able to give us an answer to this question.
    Hopefully they care enough about their customers to, at least, give us a time interval until Mac OS X Lion will be available for businesses outside US.

    If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
    To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.
    I could not find anything on the link you provided that pertained to your problem,.

  • How to backup Hyper-V host server on DPM 2012 R2

    Hi,
    I'm about to backup my first Hyper-V host server using DPM 2012.  I'm looking for a strategy to back up both the host server and virtual machines.  Note:  I'm not really interested in backing up all the virtual machines.  Many are non-production
    or for testing.  How do you do it?  I was thinking about selecting in the protection group:
    - BMR and SS for the Hyper-V host
    - The C: volume of the Hyper-V host
    - Select the Child partition snapshots of the virtual machines I want to backup.
    In my environment, Hyper-V role is installed on the C: drive, but the virtual machines are stored on E:, which I would not backup directly (volumes) since I'm backing up the VMs using Child partition snapshot.
    Would I be able to restore my Hyper-V host and the selected VMs with a backup like this?
    Anyone want to share how they setup their protection groups for Hyper-V?

    No, use full server backup (image) if VM config are stored at default storage (disk  C).

    First, let me confirm that you are on JDE World, and not JDE Enterprise One/One World. They are very different environments. JDE World is normally a green screen, IBM Client Access based system.
    If you are on a JDE World menu and you have the proper security access, just type in UDC on the command line and hit <ENTER>. You hopefully are in a test environment when you do this, since it sounds like you have very little knowledge of JDE. The UDC screen will come up. If you know the system code and code of the UDC table you want to look at, you can key them in and bring up that table. Otherwise, do F5. That will let you search by system code and see what table codes are available in each system. If you are not sure what UDC table you need, you can look at the JDE data dictionary for the data item you are interested in and that will tell you the UDC table, if the data item is UDC based.
    As for setting up new business units and company, get to the main general ledger menu. Don't remember the exact path, but you want to get into the setup/define menu for general ledger accounts. There will be separate options there for maintaining companies and for maintaining business units. You want to play with this in a test environment before you do anything for real.

    Kuldeep,
    You misunderstood.
    The client tools are Windows only. The server portion of the install can be on Windows/*nix.
    The only way to launch Designer, Deski, Import Wizard etc. is from a Windows machine that can login to the CMS on *nix.
    You cannot launch client tools from *nix.

    Before doing any modification to the existing Business Area(BA) take a full export backup (using the admin tool).
    Now,
    Is your combined table hold the same table name ? If so then you just need to refresh the the business Area in the admin account.
    Otherwise, you must create a new folder in the BA are with this new table and make the neccessary links to other folders in BA.

  • Spiceworks Implemented and Used in a Business Environment

    Are there any spiceheads near Jasper, IN that has Spiceworks set up and using in a business environment that would be willing to demonstrate capabilities and their setup?
    I have a setup at home but I do not have many devices to manage or a multitude of applications. Additionally, I do not have much time to do anything with my setup.
    I am not sure the extent of Spiceworks. There seems like there would be many nice features that could be very beneficial in a business environment. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get Spiceworks implemented into my current working environment. 
    I would love to get it implemented there but have not found the key reason why we would need it or how it will make us more productive or efficient.

    And that is exactly meant to mean what? You need to be a lot more specific. You know, I could play dumb and pretend I didn't even know what "Citrix" is (A toilet cleaner based on Citric acid perhaps?). You have to provide exact version numbers, system specs, configurations and what you plan to do. There are specific technical limitations on running CS products in virtual environments and it may even be a breach of the licensing terms depending on what licesne you actually have. A lot more to it than just your generic question.

    You do not have iOS 5 on your iPad so you have to update by using a computer via the latest version of iTunes. You can connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under the devices heading. Click on the Summary Tab on the right. Click on Check for Update.
    After you update to iOS 5, you will have Software Update in you settings and can update via WiFi OTA.
