HTMLDB Chart

HTMLDB Charts looks boring. Is there any plan to enhance them ?
I was looking just some example of few charts in Sample Application. How Do I display data point value when I move my mouse over to that data point ? Usually, when you move your mouse to data point, it should value but I don't see them.
Look at these charts e.g. PIE chart.
http://www.adobe.com/svg/demos/chart.html
Do you see difference in look & feel in HTMLDB Chart ?

Looks like a bug. Oracle may be aware of it. The best workaround I could come up with is adding a very small amount to your value (JCOUNT).
SELECT *
  FROM (SELECT NULL link,
               month,
               CASE WHEN jcount = 0 then .00001
                    ELSE jcount END jcount
          FROM TEST01
ORDER BY TO_DATE(month,'MON-RR'))Only problem you have with this is if you display data point values. The value for zero JCOUNTs will display as .00001. You can work around that by picking a format mask for the "Data Label Format" value for your series.

  • Line chart (SVG type) in HTMLDB 2.0

I cannot get any value in that type of SVG chart (I have tried bar SVG chart and it works-I know for an issue and some incompatibility with Firefox-but this is not an issue).
The only thing is that I see is grid. Query (of one and only serious) is:
select null link, SECURITY_DATE label, CLOSE_PRICE value
    from SEC_HIST_VW
    where SECURITY_DATE is date field
    CLOSE_PRICE is number field
SEC_HIST_VW is a view (which works on some other forms in app)
    Could any one help please?
    THX

    Ok. Here is my setting:
There is somewhere in the 'chart region properties' a parameter that limits the number of returned rows. The default is 15.
    My query returned 25 rows.
If the parameter is set to a lower value than the number of returned lines, nothing is displayed. I set the limit in the 'chart region properties' to 150 and everything was displayed fine.
But there was an other one with the line graph: If you want to display more than one series in the same chart, you must be sure that there is no order by in your select-clauses. Weird, yes, but it works.
I will be back on my platform on monday.
    have a nice weekend,

  • HTMLDB Line Chart Problem in Version 2.0

After upgrading to 2.0, several of our line charts stopped rendering.
It seems that if a datapoint's value is equal to zero, the line will not render.
However if I filter out all records > 0, then the chart works fine.
I requested a workspace(OTN) and tried it out there and ended up with the same results.
Is this bug in the charting engine or am I missing something?? Thanks for any help.

  • How to share the same QUERY among report, chart on the same page? and more

    Dear HTMLDB experts,
I am absolute rookie to this tool, so I have some questions need you all's help.
    (1)
When I build a page with a spread sheet and a chart on the same page, they all use the same query to get the data. However, I have to type in the SQL twice in spread sheet(report region) and chart's attribute sections. It seems so dumb, does it really run the same query twice, is there a way to share the same query?
i.e. SELECT name, timestamp, value FROM foo WHERE name = :P1_NAME? (by the way, is :P1_NAME case sensitive?)
    (2)
In the same chart, if I have two series from two columns of the same table, I have to write 2 queries, one
select null, timestamp, value1 from same_table
    and
select null, timestamp, value2 from same_table
Is it possible to use one query: select timestamp, value1, value2 from same_table and define the series on two value columns of this single query? It's really no point to run two queris.
    (3)
In a chart, when the query has ORDER by clause, it seems the chart is not showing up.
So instead of using the query below
    SELECT null, to_char(ts,'mmdd') ts, value
    FROM same_table
    WHERE ts >= TRUNC(SYSDATE) - :P2_DAYSAGO - 1
    AND name = :P1_NAME
    ORDER BY ts
I have to use a walkaround query
    SELECT null, ts, used
    FROM
    SELECT null, to_char(ts,'mmdd') ts, value
    FROM same_table
    WHERE ts >= TRUNC(SYSDATE) - :P2_DAYSAGO - 1
    AND name = :P1_NAME
    ORDER BY ts
Further more, it seems :P1_NAME in the same subquery is not working for the chart, i get xml parsing errors in SVGviewer, however the same query works for the spread sheet area, I am really puzzeled. Not sure whether it's dumb tool or dumb me :-)
    Appreciate your help!

For this particular issue, I found out that neither is the tool dumb nor is me. It's SVGViewer messed up with the firefox browser, after I rebooted the computer this morning, problem is gone. I didnt reboot after I copied SVGViewer dll and zip file to firefox plugin directory yesterday. Never had that pain with IE and Netscape, oh well :-). So please ignore this section, however other questions are still unsolved puzzles for me. Thank you all if you can share some light on those questions.

  • HGrid with drill down & chart

Hello folks, I've a requirement, kinda hard and I would like to know some guide lines with my first OAF customzied page.
The requirement is a page that includes the Organization Hierarchy from the top most to the to bottom including managers and with a drill down option for each department and manager. Another thing is a report issue, which is a competency/appraisal chart grouped for a specific department/supervisor or the whole organization.
At first, I thought of a graphTable bean under the HGrid that will be implemented with PPR option to refresh each time a selection happens in the HGrid. Then I've found a way to include BI Publisher reports withing an OAF Page in real-time. I almost have gathered the information to be used but the main problem is, I don't know from where to start!.
    Please advise.

glad to hear we were on the right track. chapter 12 of the htmldb documentation provides info on some of the api's that htmldb makes available to you for use in your application. of those api's, htmldb_util, has a url_encode function. it encodes special characters and such into hex so you can call them via a url. because of the weirdness you described it seemed as if you could use some encoding your svg chart links, too. so instead of coding your select statement as...
    select 'f?p='|| :APP_ID ||':2:'|| :APP_SESSION ||'::::P600_SHOW:'||remarks link, remarks label , count(remarks) value from whatever
...i was suggesting you write it as...
    select 'f?p='|| :APP_ID ||':2:'|| :APP_SESSION ||'::::P600_SHOW:'||htmldb_util.url_encode(remarks) link, remarks label , count(remarks) value from whatever
    ...hope this helps,

    1.) create a region with chart (typ = line) -> o.k.
2.) create a sql statement to have data in the chart -> o.k.
3.) running report with this created region and chart -> vizualisation o.k.
    3.) create a data picker item ":P21_END_DATE"
    4.) replaced the where clause "WHERE a_timestamp >= To_date ('01.02.2007', 'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI') -1/24" with WHERE a_timestamp >= To_date (:P21_END_DATE, 'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI') -1/24

  • SVG: Chart error: ORA-20001:

    Hi,
We are using 1.6.1.00.02 . I got a problem with SVG chart. The query returns following error:
    SVG: Chart error: ORA-20001: bar_char_error ORA-20001: get_data_error: ORA-20001 Fetch error: ORA-01782
The column names are correct. The same query works perfectly in HTMLDB reports.
    Following is the query:
    SELECT
    TRANSACTION_dATE,
    SUM(SALES) SALES,
    SUM(COST_OF_SALE) COST_OF_SALE
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
    Help will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Hamayun

    Hi,
you have to use the following syntax:
    SELECT link, label, value
    Example
    SELECT
    null link, TRANSACTION_dATE label,
    SUM(SALES) value ,
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
And to display your cost_of_sale data you have to add a second series like this:
    SELECT
    null link, TRANSACTION_dATE label,
    SUM(COST_OF_SALE) value
    fROM HTML_SALES_REPORT_View
    WHERE transaction_date between
    '01-DEC-2004' and '31-DEC-2004'
    GROUP BY TRANSACTION_DATE
because you can't display two lines with just one query.
    I hope this will help.

  • SVG CHart error ORA-20001 with Stacked Bar Chart HTML DB 1.6.0.00.87

    Hi,
during I put a How-To into execution (How To Create a Stacked Bar Chart) I'll get the following error code:
    SVG Chart error:ORA-20001:line_Chart error:ORA-20001:
    get_data error:ORA-20001:Parse error:ORA009
    (see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/index.html)
This Situation occurs when i add a second series to the
chart. The first series works fine. I've used the following SQL-Statement:
    select null l, sales_month, revenue from (select to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') sales_month, sum(oi.quantity * oi.unit_price) revenue, to_date(to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY'),'Mon YYYY') sales_month_order from DEMO_PRODUCT_INFO p, DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS oi, DEMO_ORDERS o where o.order_timestamp <= (trunc(sysdate,'MON')-1)and o.order_timestamp > (trunc(sysdate-365,'MON'))and o.order_id = oi.order_id and oi.product_id = p.product_id and p.category = 'Audio' group by to_char(o.order_timestamp,'Mon YYYY') order by sales_month_order);
    Please help.
    Regards
    Detlev

    Well,
I've just been struggling for a couple of hours with a cluster bar chart giving the same problem.
The problem is definitely with "ORDER BY".
I guess the graphing chart is taking the sql query as a string and then does some other manipulation on it which ends abnormally when you include the order by clause.
I presume that if you embed the query in a
SELECT * FROM (<actual query with order by>)
    it might mitigate the problem.

  • Stacked bar chart issue

I have a stacked bar chart that works fine until one of the series involved returns no data - then it shows an empty chart with "no data found" on top. Anyone has any idea? Thanks

Sorry for expressing my proposal in a wrong way. This is what I meant:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:46
If you click on the dept 70 (which doesn't exist in my table) the chart will still show up. This workarround is good for the most of the cases where there is a requirement like yours. There , you will also find the chart query behind.
The problem of no data found message was in my case present mostly there, where I needed to track a development of values grouped by time periods (months, quarters) and then query some portions of it.

  • Bar chart and Line chart in a single chart??

    Hello,
Was wondering if there is any way to create a bar chart and line chart in a single Flash or SVG chart? If not, are there any plans to introduce such a chart type in the future releases?
    Regards,
    Dev

    Dev,
I don't think you can do that using standard Flash or SVG. However, you can do this
    using my XML Chart Package
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:58
    and the instructions given on
    http://www.maani.us/xml_charts/index.php?menu=Gallery&submenu=Composite
You can modify the package to do that for you.

  • Drag and Drop functionality for SVG charts.

Has anyone been able to get a drag and drop functionality with charts?
I've read where Vikas was able to accomplish this with reports, but, unfortunately, it was an old post and his example is no longer available.
I understand that this is more on the browser/presentation layer rather than the back-end, but, judging from the replies from the mainstays in this forum along similar lines, I'm hoping someone may have accomplished this already.
I'm trying to get this to work for a "dashboard" type application I'm trying to prove out using HTMLDB.
    Your responses are appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,
I've done drag and drop using the Adobe SVG Viewer before in a whiteboard application built on top of ... you guessed it... Apex. Unfortunately I do not have an example I can share with you but I know it can be done because I did it, trust me ;) . I am planning on building out that application as an application anybody can download and use but unfortually it will be bit.
Your best bet at the moment is looking on google http://www.google.com/search?q=svg+drag+and+drop there are quite a few examples.
Oh also look at this file in the images directory /images/javascript/svg_js_includes/svg_common/oracle.svgNodes.js it has quite a few helper functions and that file is included in every chart by default so there are functions you can use, (no drag and drop unfortunalty)
If you have can lock down the users in your environment to use only Firefox or Safari you can look at canvas as well it's pretty handy and can do alot of the same stuff
    http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Drawing_Graphics_with_Canvas
and of course some simple examples in Apex
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:78 (it runs on keypress in the textarea I use it to mess with Canvas constructs)
