Htp procedures

I've created a procedure with htp packages in sql plus, and I don't know how to use it for producing an html page. What do I have to do, use another product (I have Oracle 8i personal edition) ? Please help !
thanx

You need a webserver
Current main option is IAS (internet application server)
OAS (oracle application server) is the old one
There was also WebDB
Of course You can execute Your procedure in SQL*Plus, then print out the result using owa_util.showpage, spool this in a html file and look what happened but as You could understand it is pretty ugly ;)

  • Overloading htp procedures

    Hi all...
    need some help.. I'm generating a pretty complex html report to get formatting using pl/sql to get the html.
    My procedure runs fine.. when I wrap it with htp.p I get
    ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error
    I think i am overloading my buffer with my output (my html is being returned in a clob, varchar2 was too small)...
    my question is here: is there a better method than htp.p or htp.prn to output large HTML components?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    If I need to do this, I will just loop around the clob and build up the output gradually - its a slighty more involved procedure but it works (although this is off the top of my head so probably requires a bit of debugging!):
    declare
       cn_max_buf_len constant number := 32767; /* adjust to suit */
       lc_file clob;
       ln_tot_file_len number;
       ln_buf_len number;
       ln_offset number;
       lv_buff varchar2(32767); /* adjust to suit */
    begin
       /* adjust to suit */
       select clob_content into lc_file
         from foo
        where id = 1;
       ln_tot_file_len := Dbms_lob.getlength (lc_file);
       if nvl(ln_tot_file_len,0) != 0 then
          ln_offset := 1;
          if ln_tot_file_len < cn_max_buf_len then
             ln_buf_len := ln_tot_file_len;
          else
             ln_buf_len := cn_max_buf_len;
          end if;
          htp.prn('<div>'); /* adjust to suit */
          loop
             exit when ln_offset >= ln_tot_file_len;
             Dbms_lob.Read (
                lc_file
                ,ln_buf_len
                ,ln_offset
                ,lv_buff
             Htp.prn (lv_buff);
             ln_offset := ln_offset + ln_buf_len;
          end loop;
          htp.p('</div>'); /* adjust to suit */
       end if;
    end;Edited by: Joel_C on 23-Mar-2011 14:36

    Try using:
    sys.htp.p('test');
    Not sure why the synonym to HTP is referencing a HTP procedure owned by OAS10GR2 (OAS10GR2.HTP).

  • Reading html data & uploading a file in single html form using htp package

    Hi
    I have designed a html screen using htp package in which i have few text items and file upload button. I have to validate all forms data like text items and check box elements and upload file to unix. I am using java script for file validations and cgi script to upload file. With this I am able to either read form data or upload file but not both.
    At a time I want to insert a record to database with html form values and upload file to unix with htp package. Please suggest how can I read html form data + uploading a file to unix simultaneously in a single htp procedure.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Have you ever considered using Application Express (APEX)?
    Oracle Application Express (APEX)
    Sounds like you're going the long way around to create a web based application.

  • Running SQL in a WebDB report header

    Is there any way to have a SQL statement generate data in the header of a WebDB Report? I've tried placing the oracle tag before and after the SQL, but the SQL text appears as the header to the report.

    Have you tryed creating a stored procedure
    which generates Html using the htp procedures
    For example
    create or replace procedure reportheader
    as
    cursor cSelectSomething is SELECT data
    FROM table;
    BEGIN
    FOR rij in cSelectSomething
    LOOP
    htp.print(rij.data);
    END LOOP;
    END;
    grant execute on reportheader to public;
    Now use this in your report header(no oracle tags necessary)
    [owner].reportheader;
    Good Luck
    Dave.

  • Saving the source of html file generated using PLSQL into a client folder

    Hi All,
    I have generated html pages using htp procedure calls. On a button click, these html pages need to be stored as html files on a local client drive folder. My requirement says okay with resulting security issues.
    I have a couple of queries.
    1.Any client side javascript can fetch the source of a html file and can be saved as another file in a client drive?
    2.Using PLSQL, i generated the html pages using htp procedure calls. Is there any way to save contents of the output to a specific folder. (using owa_util or utl_http packages or any other means)
    Is there any way that i could do this.. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    > 1.Any client side javascript can fetch the source of a html file and can be saved as another file in a client drive?
    No.
    > 2.Using PLSQL, i generated the html pages using htp procedure calls. Is there any way to save contents of the output to a specific folder. (using owa_util or utl_http packages or any other means)
    No, you cannot from PL/SQL simply write to that client's folder - unless a very complex and very insecure and very non-scalable method of dynamically mapping client folders are implemented.
    This whole approach is also extremely insecure. If you can from the server push a page to a folder on a client, you can also push a binary "page" to a client folder - where this "page" is in fact a worm/virus/trojan that you simply write into the StartUp desktop folder to have it autostarted to install itself on that client.
    Also - web browser automatically save the contents from a web server in their local cache. Thus the pages received are automatically saved locally. For the security reasons already mentioned, operating system and web browser treats this cache with suspicion as it could contain cached virus/worms/trojans - so the cache operates under extreme security conditions.
    The correct way to handle this requirement is to state next to the URL for that HTML page that the user wants downloaded to right-click on it and to select the "SAVE URL AS" option to save it to a local folder.
    Saving that page on the client is the client's responsibility and ownership - from security to simply deciding where that file must be placed on the client system.

  • How to call a parametrized procedure from a htp.formsubmit

    Hello and welcome to the list,
    To call your MyPackage.MyProcedure procedure as the submit action of a form use code like this:
    HTP.formopen('MyPackage.MyProcedure ','POST');
    HTP.formtext('param1');
    HTP.formtext('param2');
    HTP.formtext('param3');
    HTP.formtext('param4');
    HTP.formsubmit(cvalue=>'Soumettre');
    HTP.formclose;Note that when your code gets called it will be passed named parameters corresponding to each of the fields defined in the form, so if your procedure has 4 paramters named param1, param2, param3, param4 then you need 4 fields on your form with the same names, additionally the should each be defined with a default value such as NULL since unfilled fields on the report are not guaranteed to be passed to your procedure. If you have fields in your form with names other than the paramter names in your procedure you will get an error.
    As you can see there is no need to define the parameters in the formopen procedure, and no need to define an onclick handler on the submit button. Also you don't want to name the submit button unless you are going to pass the value of the buttons label (the cValue) to your procedure as a paramter.

  • Trouble calling htp in a web service procedure

    I have a procedure that I was calling directly within an APEX application that allowed the user to download XML files, as follows:
    PROCEDURE download_my_file (
    p_resid IN VARCHAR2
    , p_filename VARCHAR2
    , p_filter_str IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT NULL
    AS
    v_mime VARCHAR2 (48) := NULL;
    v_length NUMBER;
    v_file_name VARCHAR2 (2000);
    v_clob CLOB;
    v_buf VARCHAR2 (32000);
    v_amt NUMBER := 4000;
    v_pos NUMBER := 1;
    BEGIN
    IF p_filter_str IS NULL
    THEN
    SELECT EXTRACT (VALUE (r), '/*').getclobval ()
    , DBMS_LOB.getlength (EXTRACT (VALUE (r), '/*').getclobval ())
    INTO v_clob
    , v_length
    FROM TABLE (XMLSEQUENCE ((SELECT xdburitype (any_path).getxml ()
    FROM resource_view
    WHERE resid = p_resid))) r;
    ELSE
    v_clob:= repos_datasets.dyn_dset_licensed_location_xml(p_filter_str=>p_filter_str);
    v_length:=DBMS_LOB.getlength (v_clob);
    END IF;
    -- set up HTTP header
    -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
    -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
    OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
    HTP.p ('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    HTP.p ('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="' || NVL(p_filename,'user_query.xml') || '"');
    OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
    BEGIN
    v_pos := 1;
    LOOP
    DBMS_LOB.READ (v_clob
    , v_amt
    , v_pos
    , v_buf
    v_pos := v_pos + v_amt;
    HTP.prn (v_buf);
    END LOOP;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND
    THEN
    NULL;
    END;
    END download_my_file;
    The procedure works perfectly when a process calls the procedure directly from the database, however, I now have a requirement whereby this download facility needs to be accessed through a web-service: merely creating a web-service for the procedure and running it through a page process returns a 'ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error' message. I assumed as APEX is a web environment that the htp package functions would use the session that APEX had started but obviously they are not.
    How would I go about manually creating a session (I presume that's what's required) that would support the htp calls and allow the user to download the files exactly as they could with a direct call to the database procedure? I know it involves some initialization using the OWA package but this is alien territory for me, can anyone help at all?

    Has anyone come across a similar scenario? There are plenty examples of calling web-enabled procedures directly from APEX but I must call such a procedure through a web-service reference. Failing anyone having a similar problem, could someone explain to me how the Common Gateway interface variables are set when an APEX application calls a web enabled procedure?
    I've included the code for the procedure I'm trying to run which I have altered to include CGI environment parameters: I'm getting these parameters by calling owa_util.get_cgi_env in the calling APEX application and passing the individual values to the procedure through the web service reference. I chose those variables I thought would tell the procedure where to return the HTML to but I'm just getting a blank page.
    Anyone any suggestions? (code below)
    PROCEDURE download_my_file (
    p_resid IN VARCHAR2
    , p_filename VARCHAR2
    , p_filter_str IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT 'sepa_region = ''North'''

  • How to call a procedure in htp.tableData

    How can i call a procedure in htp.tableData.
    I have a procedure which draws a table. now i want to call it in a htp.tableData tag. I have a workaround like this:
    htp.print('<td>');
    callProcedure;
    htp.print('</td>');
    so it is working, but there must be a normal way. but i can not find it.
    thanks holger

    It's in this manual:

  • Execute procedure from htp.form

    Hi
    How do i execute a procedure with the parameter value passed in from a form?? Please help.. thanks!
    htp.formOpen(owa_util.get_owa_service_path||'procedure_name');
    htp.formText('p_username', 10, 10);
    htp.formSubmit;
    htp.formClose;

    The PL/SQL block above generates an HTML form. The HTML form is submitted from the browser to a URL, defined by the form's action. On the receiving end, you must have a PL/SQL procedure with the right name and parameter(s) that can process the request submitted by the form.
    In your case, you must have a procedure, called "procedure_name", as specified in the formOpen call. It must take a parameter, called "p_username", as defined by your text input field (formText).
    Hope this helps,
    Peter

  • PL/SQL region. query get rounded up when displayed using htp.p procedure.

    Hi,
    I tried to apply the above code, but the coordinates don't seem to come out right.
    When I test the following query:
    select c.employee_id
    ,t.X

    from employees c, TABLE(SDO_UTIL.GETVERTICES(c.geom)) t;
    It works fine. Don't let the spatial component discourage you. The output are just two coordinates, just like normal sql. I tested the output in a Report page.
    When I display the columns via an alert, instead of ( 43.907787,-79.359741) I get (43,-79).
    for row in employees loop

    Any idea how to get around this?

  • How can I take the part that parses the .XML file and make it a procedure.

    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY XMLSTUD6 AS
    Author: Jimmy Harris
    Created: 5/25/2006
    Purpose: 1.This package has an XML file initialized to a variable called DOC .
              2.It will then take the values from the XML file and insert them into a PL/SQL table.
              3.From the PL/SQL table it will insert values into the STUDENTS table.
              4.After step four above, the STUDLOAD procedure will insert (Sequence,Status, .XML file, USER, SYSDATE, ERROR_Message
                             into the AUDIT_XMLSTUD table regardless if insert status was successfull or not status is indicated by either an Y or
              NO and the original XML filed that was currently processed, the date and user who executed the procedure.
              If the status was NO then it will insert the Oracle SQLERRM massage, into the REASON_FOR_ERROR column.
                             If status is Y then REASOK_FOR_ERROR IS NULL.
                             5,Make sure you embed the xml file with an inner and outer ' ' ie: ' the whole .xml file string ' as the input
                             parameter into the STUDLOAD procedure.
    This package excepts the whole .XML file as a CLOB as an input parameter, so that the end-user will not have

    Try opening the problem files using a text editor or file viewer to see what the first few bytes contain. All valid FM binary files for FM 11 will contain <MakerFile 11.0> in the first bytes of the file.
    When updating books, it's sometimes better to just to create a new book file and add the files to that.
    When renaming files in a book, changes at the system level will break any links/cross-references between files, so it's always best to use the Rename option in the Book file to change FM file names. This will maintain the correct linkages.

    This error message is very similiar to the message that Shanthir posted on Jan, 21. I did run the dbmslob.sql, but it doesn't help. Anybody has ideas how to solve it?
    I used the PL/SQL web toolkit provided by OAS4.0.8.1. I believe oracle web agent is replaced by this toolkit.

Well, as I had mentioned in my previous posting too, I think there are some procedures in the package, dbms_lob, like the writeappend, createtemporary etc.. which is not found in my dbms_lob.sql file, I am using 8.0.5, but I found these procedures in the 8i, I think it is becos of that.
    By the way if anybody got this solution and got any workaround, please help me too.
    I am still waiting for the solution to that.
    Shanthi

  • Obtaining HTML page by issuing a call from a PL/SQL procedure

    Is there any possibility to obtain HTMLDB -> HTML page from a user defined PL/SQL procedure ?
    For example I build an procedure which calls directly
    flows_010500.wwv_flow.show(null,p_flow_step_id=>'2',p_flow_id=>'104')
    and i try to read the result from htp.showpage, but I get a html response page with a security error.
    Maybe is necessary to initialize other parameters?
    Any help?
