Http service over ssl with IE8 not working works in all other browsers

Hi,
The web server is running ssl (https) and the server as a valid certificate. The main swf loads but then I make a http service call to a relative address on the same server for some database information I get an IO error
This works fine in all browsers except internet explorer, however IE will work if I don't use ssl and use normal http.
Is there a setting in IE that would allow this, is there a known issue and better still a workaround. I have tried trusted site setting and everything else I can think off.
TIA
Harry

I had this problem, and it was related to the way IE8 handled ssl certificate revocation checking.  I had to turn off the check box in IE8 options that told it to check for revocation.

    Firefox is displaying unreadable characters when visiting some websites like digg. The sites work fine in all other browsers. I've tried all encoding options in firefox.

    This issue can be caused by an old bitmap version of the Helvetica or Geneva font or (bitmap) fonts that Firefox can't display in that size.
    Firefox can't display some old bitmap fonts in a larger size and displays gibberish instead.
    You can test that by zooming out (View > Zoom > Zoom Out, Ctrl -) to make the text smaller.
    Uninstall (remove) all variants of that not working font to make Firefox use another font or see if you can find a True type version that doesn't show the problem.

  • BizTalk WCF service over SSL -WSDL is not working

    we are exposed BizTalk Schema as Service and deployed in both IIS servers.BTW IIS cluster working as a loadbalancer.
    First Question:
    The service is exposed over SSL and shared URL like https://DNSName/abc.svc.When they browse the URL with WSDL nothing is getting (i.e.https://DNSName/abc.svc?wsdl).
    Please help me why WSDL is not generating
    Second Question:
    Exposing service over SSL and in web.config making httpgetenabled=true and endpoint name="HttpMexEndpoint enabled.
    Then when we browse URL(i.e.https://DNSName/abc.svc) it displaying like http://ipadress/abc.service?wsdl.
    So when we click on http://ipadress/abc.service?wsdl ,the wsdl is generated.
    Why when we try http://DNSName/abc.service?wsdl ,wsdl not generated.
    Instead of  displaying IPAddress to end user, we want to display DNSName.how to do it?

    Hi,
    For the problem of SVC file changing to WSDL when you bowse, this normally happens when "httpsHelpPageEnabled" property (in case of HTTPS as your case otherwise httpHelpPageEnabled) of you service is set to "false"
    in service's web.config file. When the help page option is set to "false" in the service's web.config file, this happens. Change it to  "true"
    <serviceDebug httpHelpPageEnabled="true"

  • Why does my javascript code work fine in all other browsers, but not Safari

    Previously, I have asked how Safari handles javascript trying to resolve a problem with a slide menu, (http://www.designoutput.com/testslide.html) being directed to validator. I have corrected as many things as possible and still have code work in other browsers. Why will my code work in all other browsers (IE 5.2, Firfox, Netscape, and Opera) and not Safari. It appears that Apple would address some of the problems that people are listing. Possibly, my problem is not with Safari, but my code, if so why does it work in all other browsers. Having more knowledge of how Safari accepts code or handles code differently than other browsers would be helpful. It would be nice if I could debug my code in Safari step by step to know where the problem is at. I'm just frustrated with Safari after working on my problem for over a month. Would be very greatful to anyone that could just being to get my code to appear in Safari (only a blank page in Safari, menu appears in all other browsers)

  • Uploading files containing swedish letter åäö gets ecoding corrupted in firefox for mac. Same features works fine in all other browsers. Is this a bug in firefox for mac?

    When uploading a file containing swedish letter å, ä or ö the file name is gets corupted in the filename. There are som encoding issues just for the mac version, since the file name is uploaded correctly in all other browsers on mac and all browsers in windows.

    What form does this corruption take? According to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=695995 the difference is decomposed vs precomposed Unicode forms, but that should not actually affect any Unicode-complian software. If there's a site that shows a problem here, can you point me to it?

  • I have loaded the new Flash version into Firfox several times, but none of my sites recognize it when using Firefox. It works fine on all other browsers, but I would prefer to use Firfox if this problem can be solved.

    I use Firefox 4.0.1 on a Mac running Os X10.5.8. When I try to run Facebook or other sites that are heavy users of Flash I get a message that the new version of Flash must be loaded. I have loaded the latest version several times, but still get the message and these sites will not run on Firefox. The sites run fine with Safari or Chrome but I prefer to use Firefox if it can be made to run these sites. Thank you for any suggestions you have to help fix this problem.

    Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
    This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
    Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

  • Rollover only works on the border  in internet explorer but works fine in all other browsers

    I created an aerial map and on specific areas I created a rollover, meaning when you rollover an the image of exp. a house a picture of the house pops up in bigger. It works really well in all browsers..... but in Internet explorer. In internet explorer nothing rolls over. but when I put a border, it does rollover but only when the mouse is on the border. I do not want the border there. I want it to rollover when teh mouse is on the area How can I solve this issue just for internet explorer.
    Below is my coding i used:
    In HTML:
    <div class="map">
    <img src="Img/map-of-area.png">
    <div class="maparea">
    <a class="volley" href="htmlmainhouse.html"> <span> <img src="Img/photos/map/fields.JPG" width="170" height="130" alt="sample" border="0"  /></span> </a>
    </div>
    </div>
    In CSS:
    a.volley{
    /* border: 2px solid red; */
    height: 35px;
    width: 90px;
    position:absolute;
    top: 310px;
    left: 275px;
    z-index:20;
    a.volley {
    display:inline;
    z-index:30;
    a.volley span {
    display:none;
    a.volley:hover span {
    display:block;
    position:absolute;
    top:1em;
    left:1em;
    width:64px;

    For rollovers on image maps, you'll get better cross-browser results with JavaScript functions.  See link for details:

    Hi,
    You can visit http://brandy.pararuk.com and see just 15 flying comets animated with KineticJS library.
    When I run it (viewing Windows Task Manager) I see that firefox.exe consumes 100Mb of memory every second up to full avaliable memory and hangs on Windows.
    I've tested this page also on desktop with: Chrome, Safari, IE9 and on my Android tablet with: Firefox Beta, Chrome and Android browser - page works good everywhere, except of desktop Firefox.

    Did you try to disable extensions like Firebug?
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

    Firefox only supports innerHTML and not outerHTML, so you need to use other code for Firefox.

  • Need help troubleshooting problem: Flash hangs after using Firefox (on mac) back button - works fine on all other browsers

    to reproduce:
    1. click on a flash button that takes you to a new html page
    2. hit the back button on browser
    3. flash button hangs
    I've included a test page as an example below.
    the bug is specific to having used the flash button and is specific to the Mac version of firefox. The PC version seems to work fine.

    What is the address of the first page? The only thing that link you posted in your information was the page that says, "now hit the back button and see if flash hangs after clicking on the flash button".

  • Website page with jquery datepicker does not calculate dates while other pages without datepicker and all other browsers do their job

    I wrote two mobile pages with dreamweaver cs5.5 and jquery. Both do online calculations. Both appear and accept input. One page using jquery datepicker does not calculate. Solely in Firefox. IE9, Safari, Chrome display correct results. Debuggers show no error. Firebug seems telling me that Firefox does not get a result from datepicker function.

    Thanks. But did not help. I had done this several times before, reload, clear cache, disable extensions etc. Always used standard theme. I tried the same on two different machines, with next to last version and after having installed the latest version. In the debugger I can see that variables "zeit1" (jquery datepicker) were not filled with the datepicking results, while in all other browsers zeitX shows the current date and the app shows the results that are expected. Given that another comparable app - only without date and datepicker functions - works in Firefox I think one should explore why solely datepicker - or the function using datepicker - does not show results solely in Firefox on desktop (no mobile device with Firefox on hand) . I indeed believe that there is a mistake in my code which is detected only by Firefox (10.0.2 at the present time, with Win7 64bit - had the problem with 3.6... on another machine). Given that you could run the app with results on your machine: could it be the context of locale/culture (here: de)?
    Kind regards

    This exception only occurs when hitting the web service through the bus. I have written a standalone Java application that posts to the web service and it works fine. I ran the application on the server where the ALSB is running using the same jdk (1.5.0_06 - the version that ships with 9.2.1) and the same cacerts file so I know it's not a problem with the certificate not being trusted. I have tried updating the cacerts file to the latest one distributed with JRE 1.6 and it still doesn't work.
    After 8 hours of troubleshooting, I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have any suggestiosn?
    Thanks.

    Edited by: user6946981 on Sep 17, 2009 7:58 AM

    Are you sure that your standalone application is using the same keystore (eg. cacert)? Default WebLogic configuration uses different keystore (demo).
    I saw BAD_CERTIFICATE error only once and the cause was in keytool that somehow corrupted certificate during import. Deleting and importing certificate again helped me, but I doubt you have the same problem as your standalone application works.
    Another idea ... Is hostname varification used? I know that the error message would look different if this was the cause, but try to add this parameter to your weblogic startup script: -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
    Last but not least, there is difference between your standalone application and ALSB runtime as WebLogic uses Certicom SSL provider. If you don't find the reason, contact Oracle support. Maybe they can help you to tweak Certicom provider in some way.

  • Web Service over SSL failing in BEA Workshop

    I have deployed a web service on weblogic 9.2
    I have enabled one-way ssl on it. got a trial ssl certificate from verisign. installed them on the keystore/truststore on the server as well as the jre (cacerts and jssecacerts truststores) being used by the client. the client is on different machine than the server.
    i have developed the service through 'bea weblogic workshop 9.2' now when i try to test the service through the 'web services explorer' within bea weblogic workshop i receive the following error:
    IWAB0135E An unexpected error has occurred.
    IOException
    sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

    if i try to access the web service (over ssl) through the browser (ie/firefox), it works fine. i have generated a proxy class to access this web service through the same bea workshop and that works fine too. certificates are identified and all. i also created a small .net (c#) application that calls this secure web service over ssl from another machine and it works fine too!
    of course non-secure url for the web service is working fine in every case.
    what can be the reason for this failing only in 'web services explorer' in bea workshop?

    First off 1.4 isn't supported as yet. That is probably part of the problem.
    You also must use a corba URL from the client in order for this to work for instance:
    If you are using WLInitialContextFactory:
    corbaloc:iiop:localhost:7001/NameService
    If you are using CNCtxFactory:
    iiop://localhost:7001
    Using rmi: is the wrong thing to do - that will use jrmp or t3.
    However, I suggest that you raise a call with support since there is
    some other trickiness with getting SSL working. We hope to have this
    much improved in SP2.
