Human task as first step of a BPEL process

Hello every one, thanks in advice for your replays,
My version is Oracle BPEL Process Manager 10.1.3.1.0. I've tried the search but didn't find satisfying answer.
First I will try to describe use case I'm trying to solve using BPEL and standard bundled Worklist App.
I have defined a fairly straight human-centric process witch should be initiated by human data entry or (XOR) by input message (WS call) from third party application. I've read the documentation but haven't find any way how to define BPEL human task that will instantiate the process. In other words is it possible to create human task with form and use this task/form as an process initiator in Worklist App ?
I'm aware that i can create an external form (not BPEL human task form) witch can be embedded in Worklist App and call the engine JAVA API. But this is no the case since i will have to manage the two independent components of my single business process - keeping them in sync.
I don't think that initiating a process an then picking the first step from a queue to entry form data is elegant ant efficient solution (maybe my view is influenced by other BPM product i was working with).
Also since it is a micro project i cant afford writing my own Worklist App with dynamic form binding.
So friends please help with your ideas and solution's
Kind Regards,
Michal

Eric, hope it's not because my english..
Standard BPEL process is usually initiated by client HTTP/SOAP call which passes initial set of data to process (i.e Oracle BPEL Console Dashbord Post XML Message functionality, or some third party application WS call with process data). Oracle BPEL Console generates form based on BPEL Process WSDL, thats great for ad hoc testing but i need bit more.
I' would like to have a functionality that will dosimilar stuff as Console but in a worklist application further more I would like to have a way to define the form of this firs step and have that definition with my BPEL process project in JDeveloper.
Business case for such need is as follows:
+ Greenfield process area
+ No application supporting those processes
+ No know other rigger then phone call or fax

I am using Oracle BPEL Version 10.1.3.1.0.
    Issue:
Human task throws an javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: java:comp/env/ejb/local/TaskServiceBean not found in ActivityManagerBean when it should initiate a Human Task Service.
    Steps:
    In Oracle BPEL workflow
    1. Have a wait state for 30 seconds.
    2. Have a Human Task created after that.
    Expected result
    Create an instance
Human task should be created after 30 seconds.
    Actual results.
    Exception is thrown

    Please advise.

    Yes, it works.
I can create task and see them in the worklist application.
Even if I put the time in wait to 0, it works.
It should be a very simple bug to reproduce. We have been able to do that on two different machines using these steps.
    A wait of 30 seconds.
    A human workflow task.
Initiate the process, it gives error. Remove the wait. It works.
Use a pick activity and provide timeout in onAlarm instead of wait approach. The same issue occurs.

  • Calling BPEL Process From ESB

    Hi Gurus,
I'm experiencing an issue calling a BPEL process using the ESB SOAP Service. Basically, the ESB calls the BPEL process and manages to pass the message to the asychronous BPEL process however the first step in the BPEL process after the Recieve, an Assign, always fails with an Xpath error saying that the attribute being mapped is blank. However, when I look at the Recieve step I can see the value for this attribute. I can Initiate the BPEL process manually and enter the same values and these process successfully.
Has anyone encountered this issue previously or know what I'm doing wrong?
    Any assistance appreciated.
    Pete

    Hi there,
I am getting the same issue. I have two bpel processes, the first processplaces data into a common .xsd format and then sends it over to another process with is expeting the same .xsd format.
I'm pretty sure i know what the issue is, but i'm not sure what the philosophy behind the whole thing is and how it is solved.
When i transfrom the data over to the common .xsd is allocated a namespace ns0 which is then prepended to each element. When this is sent to the other process this stays prepended. The data is then allocated to the common .xsd in the second process with is allocated another namespace ns3.
So when you try an assign is searching for ns3:rootElemnt....... which doesn't exist as it as the ns0 carried over from the first process.
Is this correct? What do we do to get round it?
    Thanks,

  • How to convert BPA model to BPEL process flow?

    Hi All,
I am looking for documentation which explains below concepts
    1. Converting BPA model into a BPEL process
    2. Just wanted to add single human task definition from BPA model to BPEL process
Can anybody please point me to correct documentation?
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Hi Don,
you can perform this task with ASSIGN activity.
For example, you have two variable V_ENV_TYPE (with type of environment) and V_TEXT ("Failed mapping <mapping name>"). Define additinal variable V_NEW_TEXT, bind Variable parameter of Assign activity to V_NEW_TEXT variable and define value in Assign activity as
    V_ENV_TYPE || ' ' || V_TEXTRegards,
    Oleg

  • Update BPEL Process

Is there a way to update the default design-time property (expiration date) of a BPEL Process human task prior to it being instantiated via an API call? How would you update multiple human tasks' expiration date for a single BPEL Process instance?
    Thank you!

Correct. It is part of a taskDefinition, but I think
information in the taskDefinition (.task file) is
written to the ORABPEL schema tables. Specifically,
the ORABPEL.PROCESS table contains information of all
deployed processes and ORABPEL.WFTASK has invoked
tasks. However, I'm looking for and cannot find a
table that contains tasks that are deployed but NOT
yet invoked.Based on what I know, Entire bpel process is stored as BLOB in process table, but there is no expanded version in database. WFTASK is used for invoked task, which is not you want.
    >
I'm not quiet sure I understand you when you mention
using XPATH. Basically, I want to create Web Service
method, in addition to other Worklist operations,
that would update a deployed process task expiration
date prior to the task been invoked. So, I want this
WS to allow users to update the expiration date after
the process has been design (when XPATH is used) and
deployed to the BPEL Manager Server, but before it is
    invoked.
Yes, you can look at designer for xpath, it will be evaluated against each invocation. I believe you can certainly use that functionality to implement your use case.
    I'm hope I'm clear....

  • Trying to get Human Tasks to work in a BPEL process

I have a workflow that needs to include a human review point for quality control purposes.
I have added a "Human Task" at that point, and that seems to partially work. I can see the tasks in BPM and I can Approve them. What's not working is that after the approval, the next step in the BPEL flow isn't getting applied.
Perhaps related is that I can see the human task was executed from within the SOA Console. However, I don't see the BPEL instance that it was associated with. I only seem to be able to see instances that have completed.
So, I'd appreciate any help you can provide on what I might be doing wrong or how to best diagnose what's going on.

Ok, I ran my data through again, trying to pay attention to what's going on in the console log and in the oc4j/diagnostic log. I do see various stack traces and diagnostics - none of which are directly in my code. However, I see lots of diagnostic stuff coming out often - even when I'm not doing anything, so it's hard for me to say for sure they're related.
I run OC4J out of JDeveloper using "Debug Server Instance". I have deployed my web service and BPEL stuff to the OC4J.

  • Human Task change task title dynamically

    Hi,
I have a BPEL Human Task with several steps in SOA 11.1.1.7.
I try to change dynamically the task title according to the Participant Name or stage .
I tried different solutions(swicth, updateTask service) but I am unable to get the participantName or the stage name before entering in the initiateTask function.
Please can you give me a clue of how it could be done?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Could you please check in wftask and wftask_tl tables whether the title has been updated?
Also, could you please check "Reevaluate the translation every time" in HT and try again?
    You should try this.

  • Is it possible to update the human task payload without using worklist API but only using advance routing rule.

    Hi,
I have one human tasks in BPEL process in which i am using different stages and with using advance routing rules i am routing my task payload to one stage to another. My payload has Task Status and Branch, after approving the human task from first stage I want to send modified value of the Task Status to the next stage without using worklist API or manual updation but only using the advance routing rules,is it possible ??? If anyone have any idea about this than please enlight me with your valuable solutions and  advices...
    Thanx

    Hi SamGoe,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update the PoerPoint slide from SharePoint 2010 slide library automatically.
It seems to be not necessary to use Macros. SharePoint provides an OOB way to notify you to check for update to the slide library slides when you open the presentation. PowerPoint does this because you selected the option
Tell me when this slide changes when you copied the slides from the library.
More information, please refer to the link below:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint-help/sharepoint-slide-libraries-ii-use-slides-in-the-library-RZ010254089.aspx?section=6
    I hope this helps.

  • Problem in getting the task Id of Human task

    Hi,
We have a Bpel process and is invoked programatically.
The first componet in the Bpel process is the human task.
So when the BPEL process is invoked need to get the task id associated with that process .
we are unable to get the task id immediately with query task API's.
we see some delay in creation the human task .
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Nagajyothy

I'm not sure you are looking for task id or task number. Expand the Human Task activity in BPEL process. After invocation of TaskService wsdl, create an assign activity within the scope of Human Task. Get the task id/task number using the task variable of the local scope of that human task, "task:systemAttributes/task:taskNumber" or "task:systemAttributes/task:taskId". Hope this will help you.

  • AnyType values not showing on Human Task 11g

    Hi All,
I have a process where the input schema is mapped to an anyType variable. I then map this variable to the payload variable on the Human Task. But when I run this process and go to the worklist, I get nothing. How can I get the data stored on an anyType variable to be displayed on the Human Task Form.
    Any Ideas ?
    Thanks
    K

I did have a look at the link provided. I have followed the correct steps. I suggest having a look at the xsd I pass to the Human Task. In the xsd you will see the element entityValue which is of type anyType. In this element i map the payload of a bpel process e.g. if the payload has name, surname, address, telephone etc , that will be passed with the values in the entityValue element. Now when I map to the Human Task, I map the element EntityRequest to the Human Task payload. When I trigger the process that calls the Human Task, in the worklist application, I am able to see all other values in my schema below except entityValue. I have also provided a dummy entityValue mapping. I just want it to show whats stored in that element, the highlighted part
XSD schema thats I am using

  • Human task expression builder (10.1.3.1 GA)

When I open up the Expression builder while inside the humanTask builder/editer/whatchamacallit I cannot see any BPEL variables. The Title displayed in the Expression builder is schema (vs the BPEL variables I see elsewhere). This gives me access to Task variables which isn't what I want. I want access to BPEL variables to use my dynamic expressions.
In addition to the above the expression builder is essentially broken within the humanTask. <Control><space> doesn't work properly.
This has behaved the same in both the developer preview and GA versions. Tell me that this some stupid configuration parameter that I've got fouled up. I can't deal with it as I'm currently experiencing.

The Expression editor inside of the Human Task editor does not show the BPEL variables as the XPath expressions are not evaluated from the context of a BPEL instance, but are executed in the context of the Human Task instance. This is not a bug.
In order to refer to BPEL variables, one can use input parameters (as noted by John above). You can also map the output parameters from the task to BPEL variables - once the Human Task activity completes.
Please refer to section 15.6.5.2.1 of Oracle® BPEL Process Manager Developer's Guide for details.

if isome values are upadted in ADF task form it does not get dispalyed in the form.once if i refersh manually i m able to see the changes.
how can i make the task form refersh automatically say for example after each and every minute.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

    Hi Frank,
i was looking into this document : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/integration.1111/e10224/bp_designtf.htm#CACFCJFE
26.3.2 How To Create an ADF Task Flow Based on a Human Task.
Here ADF pages are auto generated...
Any suggestion from you where i can go and edit the auto generated task forms so that it can refersh itself automatically.

  • Fault/Error Handling in Human Task

    Hi,
We are using Oracle BPM 11.1.1.3.
    1. I create "synchronous" BPM process containing Human Task. Is synchronous process containing Human Task correct? When I invoke this process through EM console, it hangs, i.e. I can not interact with EM console any more. I think the reason is, Human Task activity when executed expects human interaction. I am correct?
    2. I create "asynchronous" BPM process containing Human Task. I invoke it and it runs properly. I login to workspace and work on task.
My main question is: "Asynchronous" process executes Human Task and waits for Human Interaction. My process is invoked by Java. How will calling Java code know if execution was successful? If any fault/error occurs how can I notify? How will I notify calling Java code if human task encountered any error?
Please let me know if my question is not clear.
    Many Thanks.

    Hi Anirudh,
    Thanks for quick reply.
I have a requirement where based on certain condition i need to update the task and reassign it.
There is a batch that runs and performs the task. While doing so i dont have any info as to whom
    the task is assigned.
So i am using bpeladmin to perform the task.
If task is assigned to user and i try to update the task using bpeladmin then am able to do so.
But if the task is assigned to Group i am getting the error. If task is assigned to user, i am able to
acquire the task but not able to update the task.
While updation it shows the task has been acquired by some other user.
Is there any other way by which i can implement the same ?
    Regards,
    Bhavik
