I accidentally deleted iPhoto

This was really quite dumb of me, but I was getting very frustrated when iPhoto kept opening when I connected my new camera. Originally the program that came with the camera opened, but when I opened iPhoto it asked if I wanted to open iPhoto whenever the camera was connected. I said yes, because that's what I was used to. Later on, I realized I liked the other program better. I kept looking for a way to change it back to the other program, and only came across something that told me something that should be in my applications folder would enable me to swich it back. It wasn't there.
Getting really frustrated, I moved iPhoto into the trash temporarily, and I should have expected this-- Trash automatically emptied itself. Great. Now I don't have iPhoto which I used to email my photos home from college, and the other program STILL does not open up when the camera is connected. I do not have the disk with me, and my parents can not find the disk at home, either. I am just wondering if anyone knows of how to get it back, reinstall it without the disk, or knows how to at least change it so the right program starts.
I really can not think of anything else to do, so I am asking you to help me with this. In advance, thank you very much for you suggestions and answers.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The only way to get iPhoto back would be to get those system install disks (you should not leave home without them in case you have a system problem) or buy a copy of iLife 06.
Do you Twango?

Did you install it yourself are somebody else for you?
If you installed them yourself, but do not remember which AppleID you used, try all AppleIDs you might have used in turn.
If somene else set up your Mac for you, ask the person to reinstall it. If you bought the mac second hand, the previous owner needs to contact Apple to transfer the iLife apps. If that is not possible, delete the apps that you cannot update and buy them using your AppleID.

I accidentally deleted iPhoto. How do I get it back?

    reinstall from the original source
    Could be
1 - the restore disks that came with the computer
    or
2 - the iLife DVD that you purchased
    or
3 - the app store - log in under the Apple id used to purchase the software or to set up the computer - look under purchases - you might have to unhide or accept the Application first

  • Accidentally deleted iPhoto from Applications.  Can't find it anywhere.

I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my Applications; don't know how it happened (my stupidity).  I'm out of town with no access to disks.  Any suggestions?

What is in Receipts is not your application. They're just the receipts. You're meant to delete them if you're re-installing.
If you bought the app on the App Store then you can re-download it from there
If you don't have install disks then your only option is to wait until you get to the disks again or purchase it from the App Store

  • Accidentally delete iPhoto and now left with blank photos and blank events

    Hi,
I have accidentally deleted iPhoto app and now i am left with blank photos and blank events in my iphoto.
I tried eveything. Ranging from removing the pplist, installing, Iphoto Library manager but it seems to get worse.
i have the original package content
and this is how my iphoto library icon looks like.
And when i try to drop my original content package into the new iphoto, it will show an error message.
Kindly tell me what else can i do?
    im using iphoto'09

Outside chance: try recover the deleted files with an (expensive) app like File Salvage
    Other than that, no hope.

  • So I accidentally deleted iPhoto on my new MacBook Pro...

I just bought a new macbook pro to replace my old black macbook and during the migration I accidentally replaced (and then deleted) iPhoto. Is there anyway to download a new app without spending $5 on it from the app store? Was thinking of going to a workshop at the apple store and seeing what they can do for me considering I just spent another $1700 on a new computer.
    Thanks!

    Hi giunta,
Have you checked your Trash? Is iPhoto in there? If so, just move it back out.
    Cheers,

  • I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my mbp and i do not have the ilife discs because my computer shipped with lion. How do i get it back?

I do not want to pay for it. I accidentally deleted it because it showed up twice on my launchpad thanks!

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.

  • I accidentally deleted iPhoto from my mac. how can i get my photos back?

I deleted my iphoto aplication and tried to search in in the trash but it isnt coming up. Is there a way I can redownload it and still get all my photos back?

If you just deleted the iPhoto application, you can reload it from the original source normally, but should back your library up.
If you deleted the iPhoto library, you need to restore it from a backup or undelete it; if you choose to attempt to undelete it, don't write any more data to the computer until you do.

  • Accidentally deleted Iphoto and Imovie

I know it sounds hard to do, but I did it nonetheless and deleted both Iphoto and I movie from my macbook. I had to do an archive and install and copied a newer version of both from the external hard drive that i took out and replaced since it was damaged but readable.
I imported the libraries and since it was a newer version (updated) than the o/s architecture from the re-install I thought I could delete and reinstall just those apps.
However I am having a hard time finding a way to bring in the earlier versions of iphoto. I just find updates or versions that won't take to leopard.
Is there a way I can find and download these apps that will work with Leopard, without re-formatting and doing a clean re-install of the whole o/s?
Any info would surely be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Brian

If the apps came with the computer look for this disk:

  • Accidentally deleted iphoto plugin!

I made the terrible error of deleting the original file exporter plugin ("FileExporter.iPhotoExporter") while trying to delete my buggy Facebook exporter for iphoto, and have since emptied my trash. So I can no longer export files from Facebook.
I don't have an iLife CD or my original installation CD with me, is there any way I can get a hold of this plugin? Or any way of restoring iPhoto '08 to its original state so the plugin will be reinstalled?????? Or can Apple send me a copy of this plugin??? I'm desperate for a solution!!!!! Many thanks.

The easiest way is to find someone with iPhoto 08 and copy the exporter from their machine.
    Or
    Restore from your back up.

  • TS1314 Accidentally deleted iPhoto cache! Help!

I needed free space on my MacBook air, so I read a Mac forum online and followe directions on how to delete things from the cache folder to create more space. I deleted my iPhoto cache. All of my photos are now gone! What happened and what can I do?! The iPhoto cache I deleted is still on the trash - but I drug it put to my desktop and when I open it says no items.... I really needed to recrd these photos. I'll be devastated of I lost them! Please help!!! Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure that's the reason the are gone from my library - but deleting cache info is the only thing I've done recently to alter my MacBook pro.  What else could haw happened? WHen I clicked on time machine it prompted me to create an account... So I don't think I have a backup. Does iPhoto store my photos with my apple I'd? Like if I were to try to access my iPhoto on another MacBook would tw original photos be there? Also- I did have to get a new iPhone a bit ago - would this change the library due to syncing? That wouldn't really explain the photos I imported from my old laptop though...

  • HT4710 accidentally deleted iPhoto on my mac, how do I find/reinstall it? thamks

and was trying to install it by apple wants to charge me $15.99.. or do they now?

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I accidentally deleted iPhoto and want to reinstall, will I have to pay the $15?

I installed the new Maveriks, and now my iPhotos is gone. I backed all of my photos up (thank goodness), but iPhoto is gone. I see you can re-download it in the Mac Store, but I don't want to pay $15 for something that should already be there. Any help?

What version did you have before? If you had iPhoto 11 then no, you don't have to pay. If you have an earlier version then you can reinstall from the DVD that came with your Mac, or purchase on the App Store.
