I am a newb to the mac...please help me with a problem in safari

Let me start by telling you how much I love my imac ! OK, on to the issue....
Recently i tried to watch a video and was told that I needed to download a "windows mp patch" for the video to download properly....Well, short story is that I did (I know, I know).....Now, anytime I go back to youtube or myspace or somewhere with videos, I click on a link and my browser (safari) is automatically re-directing me to "adult" sites....YIKES !! I have tried to remove anything that was downloaded that evening, reset safari, and performed multiple re-starts...I'm at a loss what to do.....I thought I was done with "Windows" like behaviour out of my pc....Please someone help !!
Thanks in advance !

I have a red vertical line on the right side of my screen and it will not go away tried restarting my computer and that didn't help at all, please help me with this problem it is kind of annoying

If it's a thin 1 pixel wide vertical line it's highly likely it could be caused by a defective LCD.
One quick basic way to check is to note the position of the line. Then go to System Preferences, Displays, and lower the resolution. If ther line moves it's on the video and the logic board or video card if fitted is likely to be defective. If the line stays in the same position it's likely to be an LCD fault. Either way to have it repaired you'll need to visit an Apple store or AASP.
The worst offender for this problem is the Late 2006 17" iMac. FOC replacement of the LCD used to be covered by a quality program, but it's now ended.

I'll 2nd Chris's comments about position:absolute.  It is definitely not needed for 98% of page layouts and in most cases should be avoided because it makes a complete mess of things.
You also have quite a few coding errors which mucks things up in browsers.  While I'm not certain what all you're trying to do with those labels, But I think you can simplify things enormously by using a very basic CSS layout and simple jQuery Accordion panels.
Copy & paste the following code into a new, blank document.  SaveAs test.html and preview in browsers.

  • PLEASE HELP ME WITH DM PROBLEM

    Hi Guys,
I kindly ask for your help with regards to my DM project. As you might recall, I am working on a project that is related to the field of agriculture and that has as an objective to find the "optimal values" of the operating conditions that affect the outcome (the amount of meat produced i.e. the weight) of an animal production (chicken broilers in my case). To do so, I have to use historical data of previous productions as my training dataset. The length a production cycle is typically around 44 days. For each production, a data acquisition system stores the real-time and historical data of hundreds of parameters. These parameters represent sensor measurements of all the operating conditions (current temperature, set point temperature, humidity, static pressure, etc...) and these are what I refer to as the inputs. The operating costs and the production outcome are what I refer to as outputs. The operating cost is indirectly computed from parameters like water consumption, feed consumption, heater/cooling runtimes, and lighting runtime; and the outcome of a production is defined by parameters like animal mortality and conversion factor (amount of feed in Lbs to produce 1Lb of meat). So the main objective of this project is to find the set of “optimal daily values” (1value/day) for the inputs that would minimize the operating costs and conversion ratio outputs.
The biggest problem I am facing right now is the following: The historical data that I have in the DB are time series for each measured parameter. Some of these time series follow some kind of cyclic pattern (e.g. daily water/feed consumption …) while others follow an increasing/decreasing trend (animal weight, total heater run time, total water/feed consumption…..). My goal is to be able to come up with a model that suggests a set of curves for the optimal daily values throughout the length of the production cycle, one curve for each measured input/output parameter. This model would allow the farmer to closely monitor his production on a daily basis to make sure his production parameters follow the “optimal curves” suggested by my model. I have looked at ANN and I think it might be the solution to my problem since it allows to model multiple input/outputs problems (Am I wrong?), but I could not figure out a way to model the inputs/outputs as time series (an array of values for each parameter). As far as I know, all kinds of classifiers accept only single valued samples.
One approach would be to create one classifier/day (e.g. for day1: extract a single value for each parameter and use these values as a training sample and repeat this for all previous production to construct the training set). The problem with this approach is that 44 or so classifiers will be constructed (hard to manage all of this) and each of these resulting ANN will be some kind of “typical average” of the training data but not necessarily the “optimal values” leading to the best production outcome, if I am not mistaken.
Another approach would be to find a way to feed in the inputs and outputs as time series (an array of 44 daily values for each input/output parameter). In this case, there would be only one resulting ANN and the training samples, would be a set of arrays for each parameter, as opposed to single daily parameter values in the first case. The problem is, I could not find any classifier that would allow me to do that.
Another issue that I have is the amount of data. While a single production cycle could represent 1-2GB of data, the length of the production cycle (44 days) makes it difficult to have 100’s of production cycle historical data, as I could gather data for no more than 7 full cycles/year. Fortunately, a farm can have many production units (5-10 barns/site in big sites), so this makes it possible to have 40-70 cycles/yr. My question is: would this be enough to come up with an acceptably accurate model or is it necessary to have hundreds of samples?
Thanks for taking the time to reading this lengthy post, and I really appreciate your help and thank you in advance.
    Cheers.

    Hi Guys,
I would really appreciate any help please. Maybe I was not precise enough
last time, so I am going to decribe things more clearly with examples.
Since the produced model will be used as part of an alarm/flagging
system, I will have to produce a curve of each of the parameters of
interest using 4 values/day=once/6h, and do this for the 44 days, this
is to flag and correct any abnormal behaviour ASAP. So, the whole
curve would have 4*44=176 values. E.g. for the water consumption
    curve: day1: 12AM=65Gal, 6AM=150, 12PM ... DAY44=6PM=1500Gal. I would
have to come up with similar curves for each of the parameters of
interest (inputs/outputs). Now as far as ANNs are concerned, do I
have to produce 176 of these ANNs, one for each predicted value?
    ANN1: input1 (temperature-value Day1@12AM) input2 (humidity-value
    Day1@12AM)... output1 (feed consumption-value Day1@12AM), output2
(heater_runtime-values Day1@12AM)... and train the ANN with the 50-60
samples (Day1@12AM) from previous productions. This would produce an
ANN for predicting the value of each parameter for Day1@12AM for
future productions, etc.... This would quite intensive
computationally, so I am wondering if there is a better way to maybe
feed-in all the 176 values time series in one shot to have something
    like input1(temperature-values 1-176), input2(humidity-values
    1-176)... output1(feed consumption-values 1-176), output2 (heater
runtime-values 1-175)... and this will produce only one ANN which
will predict the 176 values for all parameters of future productions?
I would really appreciate your help as I am really stuck at this.
    Cheers.

  • Please help me with weird problems on 10.4.11

    Hi all,
Here we have a Xserve running on 10.4.11, I guess this machine is late 2006 model with 3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 processor, 16GB memory. The guy who was in charge of it left us last month and my boss wants me to maintain it now. But I'm a rookie to apple products and here are the symptoms I found (at least they seem weird enough to me):
1.I cant use Server Admin app to configure the web services. When I try to connect to 127.0.0.1 via Server Admin, it always warns me that "There is no server available at the address you entered. All server failed to access..."
2.When I'm using $serveradmin in command line, the first command works fine, but after that, it warns error="INVALIDSERIAL_NUMBERERR" whatever command I type in except for $serveradmin list.
    3. Cant find some system files anywhere, like system.log, install.log, serversetup....
4.I found a serversetup.pkg on the machine but failed in installation, warned me there were errors installing the software.
Does anybody know where the problem is? This monster is driving me crazy now, hope you could help me. Thanks in advance.

I called apple support several times and googled lots of articles, this issue is finally been resolved this afternoon.
Here is my conclusion, hope it'd be helpful to some of you.
I'm pretty sure that the main reason for my problem is because of the uninstallation of Xsan 1.1. One of my colleagues installed Xsan 1.1 on this intel processor Xserver and found that they were not compatible, then he uninstalled it. But some files that were essential for serial number verification in Mac OS X Server were removed during the installation too.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302145
And the apple representative also told me that installation of Xsan would delete even other system files which Server Admin application talked to(I can't recall the exact name). That was the reason why Server Admin couldnt find local server after uninstalling Xsan.
Here is his advice to fix it:
1.Apply Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 Combo Update, hopefully this will fix some of the files been deleted. I'm lucky that this works for my server. After this update, you have to apply security update for 10.4.11 again.
2.If update doesnt work for you server, try to install Xsan again(1.4.2 is compatible with intel processor servers).
3.If nothing above could solve your problem, you have to reinstall the OS to make it work as before.
About the serversetup issue, I found out that it was on my server, but I had to type absolute path to call it. I got this warning when try to use serversetup:
    dyld: Symbol not found: _cg_jpeg_resync_torestart
    Referenced from:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/I mageIO.framework/Versions/A/ImageIO
    Expected in: /opt/local/lib/libJPEG.dylib
If you got this problem too, here is the solution:
"The hint to a solution is:
The trick is to copy libjpeg from
    /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/I mageIO.framework/Resources
    to /opt/local/lib
The problem is that Darwin Ports' version is case-different from Apple's."

  • Can anyone please help me with Keychain problems?

    Hello,
I'm using a MacBook Pro with Maverick.  I installed Maverick yesterday and ever since then I've had problems with Keychain.  I realize that many people have had problems with it post Maverick installation.  However, since I'm relatively unfamiliar with Macsy systems I would like to find out the following:
    1) How essential are the entries in Keychain i.e. if I delete them all, will it affact the functionality of my MacBook Pro?
    2) How do I delete all the entries if doing so won't cause any problems?
    3) Is there something else I can do to fix the problem without deleting everything in Keychain?
At the moment, when I logon to my Pro, I have to enter my password and a password related to Keychain.  This is the message that pops up:
OS X want to use the 'Local Items' Keychain.  Please enter the keychain password.
I select cancel and are then logged in to my Pro.  However, various other apps are then affacted by the Keychain, most notably my iCloud.  I am unable to log into my iCloud through System Preferences because it requires a Keychain password. Safari is also affected by it.
This is extremely frustrating because I didn't set up a Keychain password.  It seems I'm stuck in a loop.  I've tried to reset the Keychain and to restore to defaults, but in order to do so, I have to enter a pasword, which I don't know.
I just want to start again or remove Keychain, but as far as I can tell, it is not possible to get rid of Keychain.
    Many thanks.

OK, I have resolved the issue.
It was al very complicated and I had enough really, so I decided to take some drastic action.
I created another admin user account, ensured that it was working, went to user accounts and deleted my original account with the problem.  It is working fine now.
