I am currently running tiger on a 2007 model. I want to get an iPod touch as my classic died. To be able to get a touch Ive been told I need to upgrade to snow leopard. Can I upgrade straight to snow leaped from tiger? Some one please help!
i currently have a 2207 iMac and I'm running tiger. I had an iPod classic which synced up beautifully but it has just died. iPod touch's are the only things that are on the market now as classic are no more. I've been told that an iPod touch won't qork on tiger operating system and I need to get snow lWoodard. Can I upgrade straight to snow leopard or do I need to get leopard first? After I installed OS X Mountain Lion system, I can't use my Safari to log into my online banking and some other websites which require passwords. Can some one please help?
It could be browser incompatibility or something else. When you say you can't log in, what happens? Is the bank website generating an error saying you're not using a supported browser? Does the login form for your bank account display as usual, but once you submit the form to log in it doesn't work? Give me a specific step-by-step of what you're doing, such as...

2. I type in my login
3. When I submit, the page does nothing

Worth the Upgrade to Snow Leopard, can I upgrade from volume licence?
I have the original (non unibody) macbook pro 2.4 GHz 2GB ram, 256 MB graphics card etc. etc.
I was wondering if my computer would be able to use the majority of the 64 bit architecture that apple has implemented in this new operating system and if I will see a serious performance increase if I can take advantage of it.
Also, I currently have a volume licence of leopard, and I didnt know how upgrading from that to snow leopard would work. Does anyone know if that is possible? I want to get the family pack.
Thank You!Yes, that computer will work fine. You will notice a speed difference running 64-bit apps, which include all Apple's apps that come with SL. SL boots, shuts down and repairs permissions faster too.
If you have a family pack license, you can use one of those to install it.

How can I find out if my mac mini running snow leopard can be upgraded to mountain lion?
I have a mac mini with sufficient ram for the mountain lion OS however, I am unable to determine if the machine was created in early 2009. Is there a way to make sure my machine will take the upgrade without purchasing the operating system first?
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
Snow Leopard General Requirements
1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
2. 1GB of memory
3. 5GB of available disk space
4. DVD drive for installation

Upgrading to Lion

As mende1 has mentioned - Mountain Lion will run with 2GB - I've installed it in my niece's 2010 Macbook with 2GB of RAM - let me tell you - it's slow compared to Snow Leopard.
I suggest you upgrade to 4GB of RAM or even 8GB of RAM should you decide to go with Mountain Lion.
Not only will Mountain Lion run better with 4GB of RAM - your apps will run smoother too.

Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

I had this too when I updated to iOS 6 today. Solved it by doing a restore to factory conditions followed by a restore to my last backup. Now its idling around 45% CPU and is back to its snappy performance.
