I am running Yosemite 10.10.1 and I cannot find my screen shots. They used to save to my desktop.

Please could you tell me where my screen shots are stored. when i use cmd+ctrl+shift+3 i hear the capture sound, but cannot find the picture. where is it stored?

The default location is your Desktop. If they're not going there, you can choose any other location by running this command in the Terminal and restarting.
defaults write com.apple.screencapture location <path to the new location>
E.g., if you want them put into a subfolder named ScrnShts inside your user's Documents folder, the path (w/o brackets) would be:
/Users/"username"/Documents/ScrnShts
You have to substitute username for the actual username, w/o quotes, If the user's name was wootts, then the command would be:
defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/wootts/Documents/ScrnShts

Firefox is running somewhere on my computer and I cannot find it to get rid of it

I had firefox 7 runnint. The IT people told me to use ff3.6. I downloaded 3.6 without uninstalling 7 and now firefox does not open at all. When I go to control panel to uninstall, it says it is running and I have to close it, but it is not running anywhere I can find it. When I try to install it, it says it is running but I dont know where it is.

Deleting Photos from an iPhoto Library
1 - from an Event or the Photos mode: select the photo(s) and use the Delete key to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the iPhoto Trash bin as follows:
2 - from an album, smart album, book, slideshow, card, etc.: select the photo(s) and use the key combination of Command+Option+Delete to move the photos to the trash bin. Then empty the trash bin as above.
NOTE: deleting a photo from an album, slideshow, book, etc., with only the Delete key only deletes that photo from that item. Deleting a photo from an Event deletes ALL occurences of that photo in the library.

Ive tried from my PC, and ive tried from another which runs Vista. Both pc's were tried using firefox, IE and chrome,and both had firewalls off and pop-ups allowed completely (I basically turned off all security). I checked for 3rd party software which could also cause "blocks" but all 3rd party software were eliminated. Hello. You need to change the energy use setting that computer uses max it out. Then it will work just fine. My is touchsmart 600-1050. The computer was preset to use minimum amount of electricity when in idle. I changed all the setting to high. Now every thing runs just like a Windows XP version computer. Thats how I got my screen savors to work. I also upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 7 Ultimate now I am able to run a lot more XP software. Test your pond screen saver make sure that working with windows open. That will tell you if it is a software issue if it doesn't work. That is the case then restore it from your D: drive.

Software update will only bring you up to the current level of the system you are using - you are at the maximum for Snow Leopard. To get Lion or higher you will have to go to the Mac App Store in Applications and purchase it there (Yosemite is free). You will need to check that your Mac meets the requirements and you should particularly note that PPC programs such as AppleWorks will not run in Lion or above.
The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
2GB of memory
OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Yosemite (10.10.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.

If the problem is only with Safari and you are otherwise happy with Snow Leopard you could switch to FireFox (free) - the latest version of that will run in Snow Leopard.

I need some help with my script. It copies the file to the remote laptops but when it needs to install the .exe it fails.
If I run 1 line at the time in Powershell ISE, then it works. Somebody has an idea why it doesn't work or can help me on the right way?

I sent the document as a PDF and it worked. But I want to be able to use Pages back and forth. HOw do I update the Pages version on my desktop iMac?

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

Did not work. I've selected iMessage to ON and left it. After a few hours I recieved a message "activation unsuccessful. Turn on iMessage to try again". This has been going on for the past 3 days.
