I can't find my username on my mac, where do I find it?
I type in the Finder command+shift+G and then I need to type in my username to find what I'm attempting to do. What should I do? The name that is above the password bar to login is my full name but when I type that in the finder thing, it says cannot find and makes an error noise.
Type in ~ instead of the username. For example:
~/Library/

Rgds StenwaDepending on the version of SAP you are using, you can trace this via:
1. STAD.
2. SM20. But proper config should be maintained via SM19.
Please read this documentation by SAP for details: [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/8a/a8b5386f64b555e10000009b38f8cf/content.htm]

I'm trying to email a photo from one of my iPhoto albums, however I'm getting an error message that says "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." Any ideas? I can't find any help in Apple on-line support.
Never mind. I was able to find the solution via an earlier post from West. Thank you!

Don't just enter usernames and passwords into apps unless you know what it is for and why it wants it. -
How can I find exact username if I connected with sysdba privilege?
I granted sysdba privilge to a database user. I can connect that user as sysdba. From that users session, 'show user' command showing "SYS" and also username from v$session is also showing "SYS". How can I find actual username used for connecting the database as sysdba?
Steve Abrahamuser10247588 wrote:
Thanks for the replay..
But my requirement is that in our production system auditors want to give separate username for each administrators (they are not recommending sys and system).
Normal dba privilege is not a problem. But for sysdba privilege every users are showing the user "SYS". How we can I identify which user is login to the database for a particular work if they connected as sysdba. How can I find which user did that (not just want the username "SYS", because all the administrators are identified by sys if they are connected as sysdba). If auditing is enabled how can I find the exact username. Because we are planning to give sysdba privilege to some of the administrators.
Also, is there any option to find the username, if one user is initiate shutdown of the database?First Please close the thread and keep questioning in only one thread.
then do not connect as sysdba -
Can't find my username in finder
After getting my laptop repaired in finder I can't find my username (I mean by that house icon along with my laptop name, underneath all the categories such as applications, movies, etc) It would be great if some could tell me how to get it back in finder.
Choose Preferences from the Finder menu, click on the Sidebar tab, and check the box for it. Alternatively, choose Home from the Finder's Go menu, press the Command and up arrow keys, and drag it there.

i was backing up my iPhone and importing photos onto iPhoto at the same time , then suddenly it says no more space available (i had 48GB before i do this and now i have 18GB) i can't find the back up or the photo anywhere , how can i delete them ? i dont need the pictures or the back ups , i want to delete them but they are not there
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal. -
Trying to get an old backup back but can't find it!
Hey guys, i tried to update to IOS7 and everything got weird.. Now i want to restore to my backup, BUT when i klick restore from older backup, i can't find it! But when i search for the backup at C:\Users\/USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup I find that backup, is it any way to put that map into my iphone again? please answer!!!
If you don't see the backup in iTunes. Make sure the device that you are trying to restore the backup to is up to date on its software.
I was trying to restore from a backup on a loaner phone and did not see the back up. My software on my old phone was at 8.1.2 and the loaner was at 8.0.2, after i updated the software, I found the backup. -

I can't remember my apple id and apple can't find me if I create a new apple id what happens?
My daughter can't remember her Apple ID and for some reason Apple can't find her ID. It's suggesting she create a new Apple ID if she does that what happens? She's worried she will lose the items she has purchased. Oh and somehow her IPOD touch 4th gen got linked onto her sisters account so it doesn't show the username unfortunately when you try to purchase something. I can't find where I wrote all this down either
Is there a way to find my Apple ID Name if I can't remember it?
Yes. Visit My Apple ID and click Find your Apple ID. See Finding your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
How do I change or recover a forgotten Apple ID Password?
If you've forgotten your Apple ID Password or want to change it, go to My Apple ID and follow the instructions. SeeChanging your Apple ID password if you'd like more information.
If y can't find the old ID/password then you are limited to the things yo can do with items purchased with the account. Like not being able to update apps and transfer purchases. -
Migration Assistant can't find External HD on MacBook Pro Mid-2012
Hi, I have a MacBook Pro Mid-2012 running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and I am trying to use Migration Assistant to transfer Time Machine backups that are on my external hard drive, that I backed up from my old MacBook Mid-2010. The problem I am having is that Migration Assistant can't find my external hard drive. My MacBook Pro can find it when I plug it in (I see it in Finder), but Migration Assistant can't. Can anyone help or should I go to the Apple Store? I need help with this problem as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance,
- Daniel Since no one replied I figured out how to do it myself.
1.) First I plugged in my external hard drive with my Time Machine backups on them, then I opened Finder and click on my external hard drive under devices.
2.) Next I clicked on and opened the folder named "Backups.backupdb"
3.) Once inside that folder I could see folders with the backups from Time Machine and all of the folders names were the date I backed up that backup. I clicked and opended the lastest backup folder.
4.) Inside that folder, I clicked and opened the folder named "Macintosh HD"
5.) Inside that folder, I clicked and opended the folder named "Users"
6.) Inside that folder, I clicked and opended the folder named "Daniel" which was my Username on my previous Mac.
7.) Finally I could see and access all my folders from my Time Machine backups from my previous Mac.
Keep in mind this is only helpful if you are trying to access old backups (backed up from another Mac) on a new or different Mac. (Sorry for the blurry images)
Hope this somehow helps someone else,

Macbook pro can't find my computer
My Macbook Pro suddenly can't connect with my brother printer. How can I try and sort this out

i got a new macbook pro and some resin i can't find my library in the computer its self.
Its no longer visible to the user. You can go to the folder by using the Go to Folder using username/library using the go to folder option to the right of the Finder labeled Go, then Go to Folder. Then you can see the contents of the user library folder. -
My Macbook Pro can't find any of my files!
Hi there,
Since yesterday, my Mac suddenly can't find any of my files anymore. All the folders are there, but all the files are missing. There are 2 big question marks on the top of the finder window and when I click on them it says that files cannot be found. I have no clue what to do now. The only thing I did before this happened, was deleting my downloads folder, but nothing more. It's weird that all the folders are visible but the content not. Anyone experienced this too? What can one do in a case like this?
Thank you for any help!
RaphaelaDid you run a disk check on it? You might have data corruption. The big question mark on the top of the finder window, I believe is a short cut, not the actual file. Did the actual file move? Did you rename the file? Did you change anything, like your username? Did KIDS use your machine? KIDS can do some silly stuff to your computer without even realizing it. I know this option may sound OFF BASE, but do you have a faulty trackpad, or use excessive hand lotion? (I have seen both of these cause undesired file moves, renames, etc...)
I would run a disk check, and if available, use Disk Warrior, Drive Genius or similar to rebuild the directory.
If that does not help, I would search for the file using Spotlight, or a 3rd party app like Find Any File.
