I cannot print emails with the recent update of Firefox on my Mac os10.8.5 but I can on my Macbook Pro os 10.5.8 and Firefox 16.0.2. How can I print with #1?

I followed the "HELP" suggestion but it said "server not found"

Hello <!-- XXX you may wish to edit this greeting, and other parts of the response so that it is personalised to the question asked.--> ,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*'''Windows:'''
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [[Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems#w_5-reinstall-firefox|here]].
<b>WARNING:</b>Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your [[Profiles|Firefox profile]] data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> See [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]. <!-- Starting in Firefox 31, the Firefox uninstaller no longer lets you remove user profile data.Ref: Bug 432017 and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer/discuss/5279 [Fx31] Windows uninstaller will no longer offer the option to remove personal data -->
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.

  • I've just setup iCloud on an I mac and macbook pro both operating 10.9 and i need to know how to move/sync the many bookmarks in Safari from my i mac to the laptop. Thanks

I've just setup icloud on a imac and macbook pro both using 10.9 and I'd like to know how to add the many Safari bookmarks I have on the imac to the laptop.  Please explain slowly as I'm old.  Thanks

Turn on Bookmark sync in iCloud preferences on both machines. (Both must be signed into the same iCloud account)

  • In attempts to reconcile with the recent updates to Apple products/iTunes accounts, I have changed my password and settings on all of my Apple devices.  Still, all of them repeatedly ask me to sign in, and sign in again, to my AppleID.

I have a Macbook (2011), an iPad 3, and an iPhone 5.  My son also has an iPhone 4, which logs in under my AppleID.  I spent my entire day off yesterday trying to reconcile the issues with our devices.  I had not used my Macbook for a couple of weeks, as I had had to replace my charger for the fifth time in three and a half years-different story for a different time (My last Macbook's supposedly inferior charger lasted the duration of my ownership of it and then some, by the way.).  Anyway, my Macbook repeatedly asked me to log in, alternately, to my iCloud and then my FaceTime. No sooner would I enter my password for iCloud than it would ask for my Facetime password; I entered the password for Facetime, and the iCloud password would be requested, so on.  The text boxes would not go away.  Other programs' windows would not open in front of them.  I searched here and other forums, having moved a FaceTime password request to the far right of my screen & minimizing my Safari window, so as to fully see my search results.  I turned my Mail off and on, no luck.  I logged out of iCloud completely, to no avail.  Finally, I changed my AppleID password.  This seemed to work...for my Macbook.  It no longer asks me for my passwords.  Now, however, I cannot even update apps on my iPad, despite the fact that I have logged out of and back into my iCloud on my iPad.  This is NOT why have staunchly defended my choice to use strictly Apple products for the last decade.  I feel like a Windows user.  I was going to upgrade to the iPhone 6 Plus when my current contract is up in a couple of months, but if this is the future of Apple....
Anyway, if anyone has answers or a solution, I would greatly appreciate the guidance.  So disappointed in Apple right now.

Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with your new credentials.  If all you did was modify your existing ID rather than creating and entirely new ID, you can choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  Your data will still be in iCloud and will download to your phone when you sign back in.

  • Tibetan won't work with new FF; has worked before the recent update to 18.02 (on Mac OS 10.6.8

I am on a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8. I use Tibetan on the internet quite a lot; recently FF automatically updated to 18.02 and it quit working. Other unicode fonts (such as IPA and Chinese) work fine. It doesn't matter whether I want to type or read Tibetan, neither shows up. I have restarted, reinstalled and restarted (several times), uninstalled, reinstalled, etc. Nothing seems to work.

So Tibetan isn't working here as well?

  • TS1381 The 'V'key in my Macbook Pro does not work. I press it, nothing. How can I resolve this problem?

My Macbook Pro is relatively new but the 'V' key is not responsive at all and does not work. No, I have not spilt anything on it. I havent dropped it either. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks.

My Macbook Pro is relatively new
Then it should still be under warranty. Take it in for repair.

  • Macbook pro 15 inch crashes every other day for no reason, how can i resolve this issue

my macbook pro is connected to an external monitor and i use apple key board and magic mouse. for the past few weeks, it has been crashing almost continously (at least once or twice a week) and i have to restart the computer. this has never happened before and i haven't added any new software to it that i may think can cause the problem.
what can i do to check on this and how can i fix it.
    thanks

By crash do you mean there is a four language screen asking you to restart?
If not, then that really isn't a crash, and you need to learn how to break out of the issue in question.
If it is, then what you are witnessing is a kernel panic*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/kernelpanic.html
Your Console application will have System log files which may indicate what application or driver was trying to launch at the time of the panic.
The non-kernel panic pseudo crashes come in a variety of flavors:
    1. Spinning colorwheel as a result of a single hung application.   Try command-option-escape to bring the force quit window to force quit the offending application which usually will be highlighted in red.  Select it, and click force quit.  Your data will not be saved from the saved app, but it does say the application in question may have run out of disk space*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/diskfull.html
Or is incompatible with some driver or operating system data on your machine.
    2. Spinning colorwheel as a result of a system optimizer.  Don't trust any application that cleans system cache.  Doesn't matter if it is browser cache, but system cache should be only fixed in troubleshooting situations, on
    backed up systems*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    3. Spinning colorwheel as a result of a driver issue.   If the driver in question hasn't been tested with the operating system, it may fail to work when certain peripherals are connected.
    4. Frozen mouse pointer with same symptoms as 1,2,3.
    5. Splotched pattern under mouse pointer.   Generally means a hardware issue with the graphics chip.
    6. Unexpectedly quitting applications or frozen applications as a result of no kernel panic nor compatibility issue.  Thsoe may happen if they run into bad RAM without panicking*:

  • My old MacBook Pro crashed before I could back up my iTunes. How can I restore all my music from that computer to my iTunes on my new computer?

My old MacBook Pro (2007) crashed on me before I had backed up all of my music on my iTunes to another source (my iPod has also crashed so I cannot use the iPod to sync all my music). I now have a new Windows 8 laptop and have downloaded iTunes onto it with my Apple ID. Is there any way for me to recover all of my songs from my old iTunes account and put them in my new iTunes? I had thousands of songs and would like to recover them if possible. Is the only way to do this by getting an external hard drive and paying someone to get all that information off my crashed computer onto the external hard drive?
Thanks in advance for your help!

You can transfer songs that you didn't buy from the iTunes store but it requires third party software such as Suneti. This is one of the best programs I know for the task and unfortunately I'm not aware of any freeware programs that transfer music from an iOS device to the computer.

  • My macbook pro is running very slowly since upgrading to Yosemite.  How can I cure this or how do I remove Yosemite?

My macbook pro (13inch mid 20101) is running very slowly since I upgraded to Yosemite.  How can I cure this or how can I remove Yosemite?
    OS X 10.10.1
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 duo
    4GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256MB
Opening apps or web pages is incredibly slow and extremely frustrating.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • My MacBook Pro won't allow me to delete a problematic font, how can I go ahead deleting it?

I downloaded a font a couple of days ago, and I noticed that the font is in my Itunes.  I googled how to delete a font, and I did what it told me to do, but my computer isn't allowing me to delete this font.  Why is it doing this, and how can I go ahead deleting the font?
Thank you in advance for answering ^_^

Have you used Font Book (in your Applications folder)?
Try it and delete the typeface using it.

  • Why is my macbook pro 13in heating up every time i play Grid? How can i stop it?

Grid is a race game that you can buy off of the app store and i bought it thinking my macbook would not act the way it did.
The game downloads and i start to play it. After about 2 minuets, the fans kick on and get incredibly loud as the macbook starts to heat up. Whenever i play it, i make sure that all the other applications are closed and that the quality is at the very lowest that it can be at. Still does the same thing.
My mac is less then a year old so I'm guessing its not because of the age.
Why is this happening and is there a way i can get it to stop the computer from overheating to the point that the fans get so loud?
    thanks everybody.

There can be any number of reasons, one of which is the game over-taxes the CPU and GPU. Another is that the software is not working properly. Try the following to see what the CPU% is for the game. Contact the game's developer as well. Since this is apparently a software issue that should be your first place to look for assistance.
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the View menu.  Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar.

  • My macbook pro keeps flashing an alert too quickly to read. How can I find out what it is to fix it?

I can't figure out even what application it is coming from. I'm assuming Finder, since it happens no matter what else is open or closed. The alret box pops up then vanishes before I can even get a look at it at all. It happens very erratically, and when I cleared out my user account, created a new one, it stopped for a few weeks before returning.
    Any ideas?
2009 MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion

No idea.  Impossible to speculate without more information.

  • I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) and iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) - can I work between both?

I have been using my MacBook Pro for several years and still use it on-the-go but at home now I have the Late 2012 iMac, I bought a Thunderbolt cable but found it wouldn't work with the MBP.
When I'm working on the laptop - and I return home - is there a way I can then transfer the work to the iMac and vise-versa.
Obviously cloud services like Dropbox exist but I'm looking for an alternative as I transfer quite a lot of files.

    Hi there,
The simplest way is to drag it across wirelessly using the 'Airdrop' application once both computers are near one another. 'Airdrop' can be found near the top, on the left hand side menu, within 'Finder'.
