I DON'T want to store any data on my MBA. I want to store all data or 90% of it on a NAS
All I have is a 13inch Macbook Air mid2011 128gb flash storage. And the expertise from you guys able to reply to me *
My goal is to set up a NAS ( how do I do this?)... as of writing I am intending to buy an airport express 802.11n.
Will the airport express allow my MBA and any other device for that matter to print wirelessly?
Can I connect sub/sound systems wirelessly to Itunes library through airport express.
Next I want to buy an Imac to act as a desktop but also as Server. I don't want to rely on my MBA to hold data as I want it to be purely for carrying out task optimally. *So for your answers sake please reply as if I'm ignorant to computing as I am largely hoping to learn almost step by step method to carry out this endeavour of mine.
Should the IMAC be connected to a NAS- buy a DS411j or DROBO FS? ---> and the NAS be connected to the airport express---> and the airport express is the gateway for any device including my MBA to pick up data (like to print), store away data (resumes,essays), play data (movies,music), act as a backup (imac holds storage, NAS holds a copy of storage in case imac fails or vice versa.

That is ultimately my desireable outcome, but I am stupid and want to make sure it 100% correct and functional! Now.. is this just a pipe dream?! Can I do it with just the replys or email from you guys?Should I get someonelse to do it for me? Or is it going to be bottlenecked and this scenario won't work at all?
If I should chop and change the supply chain management of devices, please educate me. I am not claiming to know much. But I am totally here to learn from you 5x,10x more than I wrote. Maybe it's easier if I contact you through email.

There is a world of information in these forums if you use the search function near the top right of this page. Just type in NAS for example and you get many threads on the subject (marked with a green checkmark if it solved the question) another example would be Airport Exterme and sound system. Once you formulate your ideas better then specific questions can be addressed one at a time. You may find that a less expensive choice for a server might be a mac mini. Good luck with your project, ask more specific questions and update you systems profile.

You should transfer any purchases from iphone regularly: File>Transfer Purchases , if they fail to be transferred when you sync.
You buy one and only one download. It is your responsibility to move/copy/backup your purchases.

I guess the question pretty much speaks for itself. My Imac is running very slow these past few months and I would like to reinstall the whole OS.
However, I would like to avoid loosing any data by formating the Imac without touching the user desk. Is that possible? And if so, what are te steps to proceed?
Thanks in advance for you help!Formatting a drive is a destructive process, so you cannot format a drive without losing everything on the drive. But it is possible to reinstall OS X without reformatting the drive.
But you need to tell us what version of OS X is installed. I would recommend you backup your drive before such an action. -

Iphone 3G & software update - all data lost
I decided to update the software on my iphone 3G. Thought everything would be saved as I have done this before and it was ok, but this wasn't the case. All data has been lost including all photos, numbers etc. I really need to get the photos and phone numbers back. Any ideas what to do?
I have plugged the iphone into itunes and selected restore, it then says it will restore the phone to the original factory settings. It says all of the media and other data will be lost. Is this ok? Or will I loose all the music, apps etc.

If by recall you mean restore from backup, you can do that when you get yourself new ipad using instructions in that article.

I have an iPod Touch and I set a passcode yesterday. I wento unlock it today and it seams I have forgotten my 4 Digit Pascode. I don't know what I should do
I don't have the PC which I last synced my iPod to. I changed My PC a month ago to a upgraded version, I diddnt transfer any data to that pc. I have iTunes installd on that pc but I havnt connected my iPod to it at all. I tried to connect it to my new pc for the first time so I could make a backup of everything, but itunes sid I had to unlock my ipod to use it on itunes. I don't know it so icant make a backup.
My ipod has very special things on like wedding pics/vids and other things which I dont have of.
I am fully aware how I have to restore it (dfu mode) but I have no data of it
Is it possible to use a third party application (windows) to make a backup and itunes to restore?
Or can I use a third party application to unlock my ipod?
Or will I have to say goodbye to my only copy of things?
I don't want to risk any more attempts. I have done a number of tries and I'm upto "ipod is disabled for 5 mins" I can still do more tries but I don't want the minutes to go higher

If you don't care about saving your current bookmarks, you can skip creating new profile (Firefox does it by itself at first run anyway).
I'd might suggest you to install addon https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2410/|Xmarks Bookmark and Password Sync]. It is a free web service which synchronizes bookmarks and (optionally) passwords with central server, and then to other computers, if you installed it on more. You may treat is as a backup too. -

read_array.vi 21 KBThe problem is in the delimiters in your text file. By default, Read From Spreadsheet File.vi expects a tab delimited file. You can specify a delimiter (like a space), but Read From Spreadsheet File.vi has a problem with repeated delimiters: if you specify a single space as a delimiter and Read From Spreadsheet File.vi finds two spaces back-to-back, it stops reading that line. Your file (as I got it from your earlier post) is delimited by 4 spaces.
Here are some of your choices to fix your problem.
1. Change the source file to a tab delimited file. Your VI will then run as is.
2. Change the source file to be delimited by a single space (rather than 4), then wire a string constant containing one space to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi.
3. Wire a string constant containing 4 spaces to the delimiter input of Read From Spreadsheet File.vi. Then your text file will run as is.
Depending on where your text file comes from (see more comments below), I'd vote for choice 1: a tab delimited text file. It's the most common text output of spreadsheet programs.
Comments for choices 1 and 2: Where does the text file come from? Is it automatically generated or manually generated? Will it be generated multiple times or just once? If it's manually generated or generated just once, you can use any text editor to change 4 spaces to a tab or to a single space. Note: if you want to change it to a tab delimited file, you can't enter a tab directly into a box in the search & replace dialog of many programs like notepad, but you can do a cut and paste. Before you start your search and replace (just in the text window of the editor), press tab. A tab character will be entered. Press Shift-LeftArrow (not Backspace) to highlight the tab character. Press Ctrl-X to cut the tab character. Start your search and replace (Ctrl-H in notepad in Windows 2000). Click into the Find What box. Enter four spaces. Click into the Replace With box. Press Ctrl-V to paste the tab character. And another thing: older versions of notepad don't have search and replace. Use any editor or word processor that does. -

No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom.
